My 13 year old nephew loves this game. I can't believe it. Normally he will pick a fast pace game such as speed boat racing or Super Mario. I thought with the games that he is use to playing that this one would be way to tame for him...Boy was I wrong! He spent hours and I do mean hours gathering crops and buy and sellng veggies. haha. It blew me away that something so tame could hold his attenion. I even yawned a few times, but he loves it and I don't have to worry about the content...and that is good eough for me. Thanks Nintendo

The Best game I've played in a long time

I recently bought this game and it has everything. It's fun, challenging and has incredible replay value. In the game there's the challenge of starting and maintaining a successful farm. You have to make friends and get married. There are also a variety of events including horse races.

Amazing..

I saw this game in a Nintendo Power issue. The cute characters and animals caught my eye. I absolutely HAD to have it. So I borrowed it and WOW!! What a cool game. You have 2 1/4 years to work at this farm, while raising crops, animals, getting a girlfriend, making friends, going to festivals..although everyone tells you all this stuff, there are still secrets and surprises awaiting you...

This game is probably one of the most different and unique games out for N64, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy color, and Playstation. It was such a success that even Natusume (the maker) made it for almost all of the video game platforms. It will be soon be coming out on PS2! This game is mainly about how a boy (you), go through life on a farm. There are chores to do, animals to raise, MANY people to meet, even make a family of your own. This version for N64 is about how your grandfather died and you decide to take the farm and try to bring it back to success. At the same time you try to develop good relationships with everyone... especially the girl you choose to be your favorite. Yes, in this game flirting can go a long way! You can match people up or even match yourself up with one of the 5 eligible ladies in town. There are many fun activities such as festivals that you can go to. There's even a little fantasy... with elves and a Goddess of Spring around, you can be taken any where. As you progress (hopefully haha) your father will come to see how well you did... sort of like an evaluation. If you did well maybe even started a family and had a kid, made a lot of profit and friends, you will get a good evaluation... and that's not even the end of the game. Each day is a new adventure in this fun RPG. I liked it, and hopefully you'll like it too.

I bought this before renting it!

When I first heard of this game from my friend, I had the ususal reaction "A farming game? Right, sounds...um...great. Not" The first time I saw this game at my friend's house, my thoughts were along the lines of "Well its not as bad as it sounds, but still, its farming game for crying out loud!" Then I played it. From the first time that little guy ate his quick morning meal on that faithful Spring 3rd, I was hooked. It all started simple enough

Met the people, cleared the farm- I like it!

Bought some crops, planted, explored- I like it alot!

Met more people, started the gift giving- I like it a whole lot!

Got Popuri to a blue heart- I love this game!!!

This is one of my favorite games of all time. I will soon be purchsing the sequal for PS2, Harvest Moon Save the Homeland which I have been longing for ever since I got my PS2. Yes, I am writing this a long time after it was released, I know. And after all this time, it is still in my top 3 greatest games ever!

Natsume, you have given me the gift of gifts in this game, and it will not soon be forgotten.

A Harvest full of fun!!

If you want an easy , but fantastically fun game this is for you. You raise a farm, starting with but a dog. You can also be granted a horse! Don't forget to take care of these animals! You also can woo a girl into marrying you. A kid will be the result of this. There are many festivals each season for you to attend to and have fun at. You can race your horse and even your dog!All I can say is this is a very appropriate and non violent game, ( which makes it better than most) so it is the best choice. I thoroughly recommend it for ages 6+.

Ah, the illustrious farm life...

Initially, the premise may sound a wee bit drab (especially for those of us who grew up surrounded by farmland). I admit to having my own doubts about spending money on a game that had the sole objective of raising a successful farm/family. But, once you get past the silly apprehensions, you'll find that Harvest Moon is one of the best (and most original) RPGs for N64 out there (second only to Zelda).

The basic storyline (i.e. your character inherits a rather poor farm) has been explained in previous reviews, so I won't devote much time to describing the various actions required of your character. Taken at face value, the graphics are cutesy and well-done, the controls are smooth, and the play is easy to follow. This is one of those rare games that you can complete over and over again with minimal boredom, as each game promises different results based on your actions. And there is always room for improvement; my first attempt at farming was pretty poor/unsuccessful, but I've significantly improved over time. Another benefit of the game is that it's universal, as far as age goes. Little kids can enjoy it as much as ze older folk.

My only complaints are trivial and do not take away from the overall quality of the game: The English is pretty choppy and slightly off, and sometimes the character interactions are a bit too gratuitous and drawn-out. But, overall, it's an absolutely charming game that comes high with my recommendations.

Do you remember whenever you first saw this game and said, "what a waste of money! all you do is plant some crops!" U R WRONG!!!! This game is sooooooo much more than that!! you can marry 1 out of 5 girls (karen, popouri, ann, maria, and elli) and attend festivals (my fav. is the goddess festival, when all the girls dress up in pretty dresses and you pick one to dance with. You can be elected as king, also. Another one is the moonlight festival [i think thats what its called] where you light firefly lights and send them out to sea[very romantic for you and your girlfriend ^.~]) You can buy animals (cows, 1 horse, you get a dog in the first day of the game, sheep, and chickens) you have to plant grass (for fodder for the animals to eat), and sell crops for money. or you can just go up to the mountain and look for things to sell, but thats no fun and they dont sell for as much as crops. When you marry, you can have a kid. He's SOOOOO cute at his second stage!! The only thing i regret about this game is that u can get a kitchen, but u cant cook. that sux. i was very bummed out when i found out about that. And some of thew recipes sounded good to cook. :( Other than that, the game is VERY awesome! I say u but it as soon as you see it!!!!

Farming is now a videogame?Get real......

No get really real! With this hard game to find and fun for the whole family. So you might think farming is dum but when you get the elegeant game, drum roll please.."From the makers of Harvest Moon 64" you will get non-stop fun as farming finding the right girl for you and going to trying to be man of the year (also whats fun is collecting the power apples). So I reccomend this game for boys and girl of all ages.
