Celebrate the coming of the Harvest Moon!!!

If you are familiar with the Harvest Moon series, or even if you are not and you enjoy RPG/Simulation games, this game is a good addition to your collection. In Harvest Moon 64, you play as a guy who gets to run a farm and have a personal life.

The method of farming in this game is completely done by your character; you till the land, plant the seeds, and water them until plants grow. And you have to do everything in 2 minutes and 45 seconds because you wake up at 6:00 a.m., hours in this game are 15 seconds long, and the person that picks up the crops comes at 5:00 p.m.. However, time does not pass while you are in buildings. If you do to much without eating or sleeping (sleeping brings you to the next day), you will not be able to use tools.

Compared to the Harvest Moon for the Super Nintendo, this game has a good number of new features:
1) Tools power-up with the amount of times they are used, as apposed to completing a certain event in the game that gives you a stronger tool.
2) You have to buy your groceries (the food you automatically eat when you wake up and at noon).
3) You can raise sheep! The money comes from their wool.
4) There are new competitions that include racing your dog or horse.

I could go on and on about the new aspects of HM64.

However, in HM64, there is a lot of misparagraphed text and there are also some bugs in the game. One bug in particular that I have found is that at some point in the game, Elle's grandmother may die if you talk to her, usually during spring. Make sure this never happens on a day when something is happening (New Years, etc.) or your game will freeze.

Even with the bugs (try to avoid them!!!), this game still stands out as a great "real life" video game.

I was lucky enough to purchase this game (Factory sealed) off of E-Bay for $53.00. I had heard good things and was expecting a nice expierence that would last for as long as the red light glowed on my N64. I can't say I was completely right. This game is really run. Your Dearest Grandfather has just died, leaving you his run of the mill, condemned farm. Its not much to look at, but it is dirt, which all great farms start out with. The game will keep u glued to one spot, gazing at the soft glow of the screen. Graphic wise this game preforms nicely, the textures are soft as are the colors and you can look at the screen for hours on end without hurting your eyes. Sound-wise, well to put it mildley, this game is horrid. They have 4 tunes, one for each season, and they all got on my nerves. I just muted the tv. This game is a lot funner than it sounds and will keep you entertained for a good while.

This is where the bad parts come in. At some point, life in the town will get dull. I muddled through this, but its amazing how varying your scedule helps. second, the days are 2 friggen short. They are only about three min. long. I would have preferred 6 or 7 min., simply cuz it gets too dark to see. But the big blow which caused me to lower the rating one star, was the fact that to expierence the compellingness and the like, you have to drive yourself to play it. Confused? Basically, Harvest moon is a game that you won't be wishing to play while at practice or school, but rather one of those rare gems that once you start playing, you can't stop. ... It will enthrall you.

A must have, no game collection complete without it.

This is one of the best games ive ever played. There are TONS of secrets and hidden things.Its VERY VERY VERY addictive. Even if you look at it and think you wont like it because you're not into farming, you think its childish or whatever your reason dont under estimate this. The game is awsome. You get a girlfriend, raise animals,crops, attend festivals, get home extentions and much much more. Ive never met somone who didnt like. PLEASE buy this game. This game is challenging, and is very fun. It is very addictive. The plot is good, but the graphics are not like real people. This game goes on forever, so you can do as much as you want and you can not do much damage to what you have all ready done. All-in-all, this game is pretty good.

This game is the best RPG-Sim game thats ever come out for nintendo 64! I don't own it but one of my friends does and the first time I played it I was like, addicted to it. I just couldn't stop playing it. What happens is you can collect all kinds of animals like, chickens, cows, and sheep and you have to feed them every day. The chickens you have to buy food for and collect their eggs, the cows you have to feed fodder to and milk them, and the sheep you have to give them fodder and use shears to get the wool they produce. In my oppinion this is an all around excellent game and I recommend it to everybody.

This game is so cool.

I read about Harvest Moon for GB and thought it was cool, but before I bought it, I tried the original. The game was so cool!!! I now have every version of Harvest Moon and I love them all. Though this game is a little sexist, since you always must be a guy and marry a girl and you can never have a female child, it is still very fun. I strongly reccomend this game to anybody with a strong passion for RPG's and story content. It does eventually get boring if you play it 24/7 and beat the game, but don't all games? You can play this game for as many years as you like, spring, summer, winter, and fall.

Don't be fooled by the fact that this is a farming game this game is the BEST!!! It's nice graphics and angled view make it a sure winner. The play control is wonderful and the fixed camera doesnt mess you up like free cameras do sometimes. The sound is ok. The best thing about this game is the fact that it always has somthing new to reveal. It is virtually a bottomless pit of secrets and events, especially if you continue playing after the credits. You can farm the land, make friends with the villagers, buy livestock, marry and have a child. Help out the villagers, and so many other things that i cant fit them all into here. Just suffice it to say that I personally guarentee that this game will pull you in like a black hole of FUN! Satisfaction for the kids and the parents is nearly inevitable. And (a big plus for you parents out there) It has virtually NO violence. I am NOT exaggurating here. NONE. YES!YES!YES! You have to love this wonderful game, it's so good, its almost... oh dear... TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! BUY IT! You can search all you want, but you won't find a better game anywhere. (and remember parents! no violence!) I recommend this game for ages 1-100 so get it while its here! (and pray that they come out with another one too!)

I love this game! It has so many things to do, like plant crops, build on to your house, or get married. You can get types of animals, and a horse and dog for free. I can't put down my controller. Surprisingly, this game is very addictive, even thought it isn't an action game. Some people my think a farming game sounds boring, but like I said, it rules! On a scale of 1 to 10 it is an 11!

Your in a farm with a dog you can buy more animals at the animal shop.You
can buy flowers, food, tools, and potions. You will like this game.I own
it.You can plant crops.You can milk the cows you can also cut the sheeps
wool.You can upgrade your tools witch are a ax, hoe, hammer, sickle, and a
watering can.
