This game is the ultimate in RPG. Zelda 64 holds best if you include graphics, action, and excitement, but for an addicting and challenging game, sit down and play Harvest Moon. I read the great strategy/review guide in Nintendo Power and was quickly hooked. I can just sit for hours and play this game. The story begins with you inheiriting your Grandfather's farm. When you first leave the door, the Mayor of the town will ask to take you on a tour. Afterward, you'll get a look at the field. *YIKES!* But it really won't take that long to clear. It is there not to cause extreme stress, but to help familiarize you with your tools. Once cleared, the real fun starts. You can fish, mine, grow, gather, and chop your way to wealth, fame, or just a good retirement. For fun, attend local festivals or races. Don't forget to get the girl of your dreams(Elli, Popuri, Karen, Ann, or Maria) to a pink heart. Animals also are an important part of the game. As you can see, HM64 is an amazing game that gives you a new perspective; to see the world through the life of a hardworking farmer in a small but humble town.
Wohooo!

My wait is finaly over! i have been waiting for Harvest Moon 64 to come out right when i beat Harvest Moon SNES. this is the greatest game ever created! You dont go around shooting things until their guts fly out thier ears like in other games. You take the role of a rancher trying to make it. You can plant crops and raise livestock, and watch them grow from day to day. The game goes though out the 4 seasons, and 30 days in each season. Each day is about 15 mins long, so you gotta hurry and get things done! If things get a little boring on the ranch, you can set out and explore the mountains. You also meet a lot of character rich people in the town, make friends, and even get married! This game never gets boring because theres so much to do! Its the perfect game for fans of Anime, or RPGs. Or you can go back to playing your mindless kill everyone games. Thanks, and hope you enjoy the best game ever made!

Not all strategy games are blood and gore, unsuitable for youngsters. Harvest Moon does require some strategic thinking, but is great for tykes that need something low key and non-violent to play.
The premise is a sad one - you are an orphan boy which must take over your grandfather's farm. You have a pet dog, but that's it - everything else is up to you. Off to work!
You must determine how best to keep your farm running. Should you plant eggplant or potatoes? Spend your time fishing or milking cows? The better you do, the more you earn, and the more seeds you can buy or chickens you can raise.
It's not all work. There are festivals to attend and pretty girls to talk to. You can upgrade your home with a second floor or with a cradle. Choose a girl to marry, and maybe your house will become a happy home with a growing family. Your chickens, cows, and even horse will share in the fun.
Seasons go by, rain comes and goes, your skills improve and you might even win a horserace. Even those too young to grasp the strategy involved will still enjoy watching the plants grow and riding the horse around.
Not exactly a mind boggling challenge, but for the younger set, it's a fun romp!

What I liked about it was that it was nice to see a game that wasn't a shootm' up violent kind of game. This RPG, role-playing simulation is a peaceful kind hearted game in which you deal with the real life ordeals of being a farmer. From sick animals to finding the perfect wife and raising children Harvest Moon is a great learning experiance. Another cool thing I like is the fact that the game has no set ending time, you can play for as long as you like! For parents who are looking for a non-violent game for children (and adults) Harvest Moon 64 is an exellent choise.

Harvest Moon 64 is a fun game in which you decide to run your grandfather's old farm and try to make a good living. It's not your blow off the monster's head kind of game. Your chracter's grandfather has passed away and you must help restore his farm back into a cheerful place that it was. All you have is your dog and a broken down farm to start out with but once you clean up everything and meet some of the townfolk you can begin your journey to a happy life. You'll have to raise animals such as cows, sheep, and chickens and grow crops to make money. The village is the place to go for crops, treats, and many other useful items.A nearby mountain just filled with Spirits and magic waits for your arrival. The local ranch sells animals and feed. The depressed vineyard workers wait for help. You must also get married. Five woman in the village can prove to be the one love of your life. Ann the ranch worker,Elli the baker,Karen the drunk or the vineyard owner's daughter I should say,Maria the Mayor's daughter who runs the Library,or Popuri the florist worker. All like certain gifts, pick one and bring her gifts everyday. There are four seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. Certain crops grow in each season and there are festivals, events which you join in,watch, or dance. You will have a baby once your married. You must collect recipes.Milk the cows.Save the vineyard, help the carpenters, fish in the river, pupies, climb the mountain, get a horse, buy cakes, build a greenhouse,go to church, swim at the beach, plant flowers, and so much more with a game of 50 chracters and one chance for a good life.Nothing bad happens but your dad comes and judges your life after three years. I have this game for GBC and when one of my friends bought it Ihad to try it. When I tried it I loved it and desided to buy it.Harvest Moon 64 is even better then the GBC version. For one thing you can plant more seeds. You can plant cabbage, turnips, pattatos, corn, tamatos, egplants, strawberries, three different kinds of flowers, grass (for your cows and sheep), and I hear you can get an apple tree but I don't know how. In addition to all the plants you can have six chickens, eieght cows or eieght sheep or a combanation of sheep and cows, you can also get a free hourse at the being, and you start out with a dog. That's just on the farm! You can also get home expantions like a bathroom, kitchen, stairs, deck, green house, and a baby bed (if you have a kid.) Add to all this love, friendship, festivels, and the different tools and recipies you can get you've got a GREAT GAME! There are five girls in the small town you live in Karen (my favorit), Ann, Maria, Ellie, and Poperi. You can marry them or they can marry one of the five men that rivel you for there love. Kia, Cliff, Haris, the baker, and Gary that are our rivels for the five different girls. Know I've intredoced you to five of the charactors but there are still about twenty people I haven't introdoced you to. Then there is the extra tools you can get, and the home exsesories. You start with five tools and you can buy a bottle, sheep sheeror, brush (for cows, sheep, and our hourse), milker, chicken feed, and fishing rood. The home exsesories are the rug, cabbnit, blue vase, stuffed piggs head (which protechs your green house), truttle staut, and the prizes from the dog and hourse races. There are tons of recipes but I only know about ten. There are lots of festivels at least three a seson. I really love this game and I think you will too.

I know that it seems unlikely that a game about farming would be fun. But Harvest Moon 64 is the most addictively entertaining game I have ever played, and I don't usually like RPGs.
You play a young man whose grandfather has died and left him his run-down farm to revive. There are tons of chores to do, animals to raise, vegetables to harvest, people to visit, girls to marry, Spring Festivals, Horse Races, swimming contests and much much more. There's always money to make and things to buy that can improve your house, farm or love life.
After 3 years, the man's parents come to rate how he's done, depending on how well the farm is doing. There are 4 seasons, each consisting of 30 days. There are 120 days in a Harvest Moon year, and around 5 minutes in each day. As the seasons change the events, vegetables, scenery and people's dialogues change as well. There are new events every year.
One thing that is pretty amazing is that this game is entirely free of violence, blood, or action, yet it's fun for all ages. It's good for kids because it is peaceful and non-violent, and makes them use strategy and helps them calculate time. It's good for older people too because it is challenging and there are many surprises to keep you coming back for more. This game has a very high replay value, because each time you play it it is completely different (you can marry 5 different girls, and depending on which one you persue, the game changes a lot). The absense of action & fighting makes it easier to concentrate on strategy. The graphics aren't great, but personally I don't mind-- the animals and people are really cute and chunky, and the controls are easy to master.
I would recommend Harvest Moon 64 to people of all ages. It's addictive, challenging, and it makes something that looks pretty dull into a really, really fun game.

Harvest Moon 64, a game with strategy and lots of thoughts. Just buy this game.. you'll love it. In this game.. you will never find any mortal kombat stuff, kicking, punching, or automatic weapons. Just pure farming and all about life. This game is the perfect game for making strategies and plans about the future. You will see how you affect the community and other people. Your love between the girl you choose to live with will be depending on you. Each girl has a favorite fruit or others. Treat her everyday and talk to her. And while doing that, don't forget about feeding your pets and brushing them. Expand your house by going to the carpenter and also, you shouldn't forget about seeds and grass. Just like in real life, this game has four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall(Autumn), Winter. I'm already on my second year with a greenhouse, kitchen, bathroom, and a log terrace. 5 cows and 2 sheeps. 7 chickens. Tons of money.... Just buy it and you'll be satisfied.
