OVERRATED!! Hey, these are some sweet graphics...for 1995 standards!! This game is a hyped up mess. Bad graphics, no matter what speed you machine, laughable voice overs, lame weapons, and the list goes on. Look, if you want a real net shooter, go with the best...Unreal tournament, out for a year now and still on top.

TRIBES 1 MUCH BETTER!!!!!! TRIBES 2 IS A PAIN IN THE A**

I was expecting something great, something amazing, something like I've never seen before. I was VERY disapointed!!! Tribes 1 was great!!!! it worked well, played well, and was lots of fun. Then I put in Tribes 2 for the first time and imediatly noticed the choppy pour graphics and lousy game play. I tried to turn my character(I have a 500 mhz cpu, 128 mb ram, and Voodoo3) and it was extremly choppy and slow. I pressed the fire button and the game froze for 5 seconds and then finally my weapon discharges. Why did they have to use such a complex engine in this game!?!?!? I went through the hassle of downloading patches and stuff but still!, lousy choppy gameplay!! If this game wasn't so anti-compatible, maybe it wouldn't be so hated by half the people who purchase it.

JUST STICK WITH TRIBES 1!!!!!!!!

Tribes 1 offers better graphics, easy to set up online play, and is very compatible. You don't need a 1 ghz cpu to play it either. A simple 200 mhz machine can handle this game! For some reason the graphics are much better but require less power than tribes 2. The only cool thing with Tribes 2 is the opening movie (very cool). If you already own tribes 1 and are looking for new online fun, try Unreal Tournament. It may not be appropriate for younger gamers but it remains one of the most fun games played online to date.

This Game is EXCELLENT! But their are some problems.

Ok let me start out by saying if u have a Voodoo 5 which most people do it wont work very well but the reason for that is because u only have 64 and 32 mb of sd ram. YOU HAVE 2 HAVE RAM TO USE VOODOO ON THIS GAME ATLEAST 128 mb of sd ram. If u have 128 mb of sd ram then this game should run fine with minor problems. RAM Will not help if u dont have a graphics card. You need a graphics card atleast 32mb on it. RAM and The Motherboard multiply the number of pixels and triangles per sec to make the graphics even more supreme. Now dont buy a graphics card without ram because of lack of speed and ability. Also (Dont buy any Graphics Cards Called Hercules because it only works with about 5 out of 10 games.)

Now let me tell you what i thought of the game. It has excellent graphics and speed is no problem. (Now you need to have atleast a DSL or Cable Modem to run this game with no bugs or problems.) But anyway the game is very fun and addictive. Its an improvement to Tribes 1 and I hope they can fix the bugs so people wont complain. (You also need a fast machine for this game at least a 600mhz with all the graphics and ram i talked about above.) Now the game has lots of new weps and i love the ground ships and air ships that are new and improved. The Graphics Are such an improvement and almost look real. This game is a big buyer just kinda is a little itchy in some areas. I have no problems downloading the patches and updates to the game because of ADSL. So be sure before you buy you make sure u have what i said above on the page so you wont have any problems. Hope you enjoy this game like i am. Kevin

Pretty cool game, but...

Tribes 2 is really cool game in that it stands out from other FPS games. While Quake3, Half-life and Unreal based engines are mostly indoors, or have the pseudo-outdoors feeling. Tribes2 is, almost, completely fought in the Big Great Outdoors. Maps can range for several "miles", and battles can cover large areas. There are also indoor portions of the maps, which are just as confining as other games and require different tactics than outdoor battles.

Tribes 2 is also cool in that there are vehicles in the game that not only drive on the ground, but also fly. There are single seat (Fighter, Cycle, Re-charging station), two seat (Tank), three seat (bomber), and six seat (Transport) vehicles. Combine this with 3 kinds of armor (Light, Medium, and Heavy), and a lot of weapons (Too many to list here), you get a lot of different strategies, tactics and demission to the game.

However, I have a few complaints:
1) It takes a powerhouse machine to play smoothly with good graphics. I ran this on a 700Mzh with a Geforce 2 Ultra, and I had to crank the graphics down a lot to get a decent frame rate. Not until I bought a 1.8Gzh CPU and Geforce 3 was I able to crack the graphics up and have a really enjoyable high-resolution game.
2) Online only and you need a really good 56K connection or better. Forget about single player, it has it, but not really.
3) No good mods out there. Quake3 has Urban Terror and Q3F, Half-Life has Team Fortress, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat, and Unreal has Strike Force. Tribes 2 has no real mods. Tribes 2 Urban Terror or Tribes 2 Counter-Strike would be unbelievable. You could have urban and countryside maps in the same map; with helicopters and tanks. I shutter to think how cool that would be.

All in all, Tribes 2 is a good game that belongs in the collection of every gamer. It?s a great alternative from the normal FPS.

Beta quality - don't waste your $$

Shame on Sierra for releasing a beta quality game. Just go look at the tribes2.com forums - everyone's having serious problems, ranging from crashing to horrible framerates. And that's not even counting the problems with network support.

Don't believe the hype. This game is a waste of your money; wait a few months & see if they fix it.

The Average Guy

Before buying Tribes 2 know the following: 1. You need a fast computer, my Duron 750 w/ 256MB ram and a 64MB Radeon is not fast enough to run it smoothly when the action heats up. Lag kills. . . 2. Most all of the weapons are slow firing weapons firing slow projectiles making it frustrating to deal with the vast distances you encounter in the game. Think slow Team Fortress grenade launcher on a very large outdoor map. "You hit the guy! was he standing still?". . . 3. Steep learning curve. I never played the original Tribes and it is taking a while to learn all the controls and options. . . Overall I find Tribes 2 to be a dissapointment. Counter Strike is still my favorite. First person action is all about immediate response. The game is more immersive if you can react as fast as you would in real life. Tribes 2 needs to pick up the pace.

cool...but not cool enough

The first time I played this game I thought everything about it was superb--the graphics were beautiful--sounds were cool--and just a really cool game in general....but after I played it for about 20 minutes I got extremely bored with it and never wanted to play it again.

fogwars

I bought it when it first came out and it was missing alot of stuff. Now two months later it is still unfinished,no scoring for vehicles, community options still are not finished.Still a lot of bugs from the start and they add more all the time.Last patch they new they were adding a bug with the turrets but did it anyways and said they would fix it the next patch. The worst change thye have made so far is last patch they fogged in all the maps as a great code fix to improve fps for low end computers. Now its like playing in fogwars.Instead of unlimted viewing areas as you see on the box here or screenshots anywheres its all fogged in now.All you see are red triangles coming at you through the fog in the distance. If you like fog buy this game, you can't see far now so it is no different than any other game, your suppose to be outddors but its the same as Quake or Counterstrike, instead of normal walls you have fog walls.

Worthless

Tribes2 is one of the worst games ever, in my mind. First, anyting with teamwork dosn't exist; no one ever comes to your aid or helps you in any way, and everyone fends for themselves. It is impossible to ever achive anything because the maps a big, too big. It took me 30 minutes just to get from the inside of my base complex and find a way out.Team Killers are you first enemy and then the other team. This game is not worth a dime; get Half-life or Unreal Toranment instead!

Keep in mind I've just bought the game a mere 48 hours ago. Haven't slept yet, and the lack of food and standing in general are starting to take their toll. I'm starting to get more stubbly than I like, and my friends stopped coming over. Also I think my fish is dead. This is a pretty good game.
