Customer service? What customer service?

I'll begin by saying that this game is fun, exciting, and all that the hype says it is. However, there are some very critical issues that are present that have totally ruined this game, and made it nearly impossible to enjoy.

First, the single player/LAN version of the game, which includes all training missions, does not work on the vast majority of CD-ROMS. If you own an older CD-ROM, or just a cheap one like I do, don't be surprised if the game crashes as it is loading. This is due to a CD write-protection that conflicts with the CD-ROM and causes the system to treat the disc as though it is pirated, even if it is the original.

Second, since the game was rushed and published before all the bugs were worked out, you MUST download a patch or multiple patches before being able to play the game. This can take anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on your connection. On average, I have to download three patches just to be able to play on the Tribes 2 servers.

Third, and most recently, the Tribes 2 servers have been having errors, and have been popping up error messages while they search for the user's version of the game, and stating that no patches are available thus making it impossible to play the game, even online.

Another problem that I have been having is that you must use your CD key on the jewel case in order to create on online account, and only one account per CD key is available. This makes it very difficult to log back onto the server if, for some reason, the game crashes while you're already logged on, and the game refuses to let you in with your original account because the server still has your name logged on. You cannot simply create a new account and use a new name to continue playing.

Don't expect any help from customer support, either. On Sierra's site, the message boards are full of complaints regarding all kinds of system conflicts and problems with the program. None of the patches provided by the development team address the most important conflicts with the game, and instead seem only to complicate matters by requiring the user to download the most current patch in order to just play the game.

Shame on Sierra and shame on Dynamix. I cannot recommend this game to anyone. This type of treatment by a game developer makes me leery of even purchasing another product by them, and I can guarantee that I am not the only one that feels this way.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!

This is not worth...bucks. It is very poor quality software, even after installing and reinstalling it 3 times, it still does not work. My two computer nut friends are having the same problem. Also, it is very similar to the orginal, but the original has better controls, AND IS...BUCKS LESS!!! Get it, NOT THIS!!!

Oh, why oh why didn't they stick with their original engine??? I've spent all day playing on my P600 with Radeon card, and it keeps chugging like and old rusty locomotive. It was running well, then 3 bots turned up and killed me immediately because I couldn't move! (this is one example of many) Multiplayer suffers similar problems. I can't believe they've wasted this time making this slow and troubled new engine. A major disappointment because Tribes was one of my favorite games of all time. Well, back to Giants: Citizen Kabuto -- best game I've played in 10 years!

I STILL WANT MY FREE POPCORN!!!

Just what the title says; this game is just a big waste of my (and thousands of other's) time and money.

Congradulations Sierra on releasing the worst pile of incoherent trash known to man.

avoid if at all possible.

This game isn't worth the hassle! From experiences, patches are not tested correctly and introduce more bugs with every release. In addition to the bugs, you are required to reinstall the game everytime a new patch is released.

Instead of focusing a solid game, Sierra decided to point fingers at your computer configuration which work fine with every other game but theirs. If you enjoy spending hours trying to fix sierra's mess, by all means buy this game, otherwise avoid it at all cost.

Tribes 2 is a giant piece of non-working bloatware

This game took a huge amount of time to make, delays after delays, and when it actually hit the stores.. I've seen alpha builds that could easily be more stable [....] Oh yea? and what's more.. unless you are running on Dave G's deep blue, you are going to see stick figures running around at 1 fps ... this game is the biggest joke I've ever seen.. UT or Quake 3.. or anything blows this junk away.

T2 stable, starting to soar

It's taken a number of patches, but Tribes2 is becoming the game that everyone had hoped for. Ladder play is heating up, and strategies and counter strategies for the various maps are becoming known. There are numerous resources for tuning the performance available within the tribes community.

This is the multiplayer team game by which all future standards will be measured. What other game can boast active 16 v 16 player matches? What other game actually requires you to work together with your teammates to win. What other game, has the gravcycle, a vehicle so fun, you can spend hours just riding the thing around in the huge environments?

Everything you've heard is true: the vehicles, the graphics engine, the weapons, skiing... and with classic mods like Arena and TAC2 being released, it looks as if T2 is just hitting its stride.

I'll admit, that it took me a while to warm to the game. It was buggy, it was slow, it had UE's, and it wasn't T1 with fancier graphics. Having stuck with it, I'm hooked again, and my doubts have dissappeared. The Heavy is once again an effective choice. The thrills are back: where T1 had disc mining, T2 has the joys of shocklancing incoming HeavyO. Where T1 had discjumped flag routes, T2 has 200mph Shrike attack routes. Where T1 had deadly chaingun ld packs, T2 has roving elfers, with Shrike D support, and snipers picking off a fleeing capper just as he crests the hill.

Pick up a copy of Tribes2 and be willing to play it for 2 months. If you do, don't be surprised if 10 months from now, u find yourself still playing it - daily. It's that kind of game, and there's nothing else like it.

A minor correction...

First off, this game rocks. But I'm not here to do a review, I wanna corect the Amazon.com info on vehicles:

There are 6 new vehicles, and no 4 wheel scout ATV(It was changed to a hoverbike). The vehicles are the Bewolf tank(One driver seat, one gunner station with machine gun and mortar), the Shrike(A scout/anti air craft with 2 heavy blasters and recon equipment linked to command screen), the Thundersword bomber(One driver, one bombadier/turret gunner, one tailgunner), the Wildcat(The scout turbograv vehicle mention earlier) the Jerhico(A mobile base that, when activaded, implants intself into the ground and becomes a base with inventory station, sensor jammer and missle turret), and the 6 person transport.

WOW! Very much improved from the origional, Starseige Tribes. The "skiing" glitch has been removed, along with many other improvements in graphics and other areas, and WHAT? NO LAG!!!!
