A.K.A Total Addition

First off, this game is the best that I've ever played. It got my attention real quick. I've tried UT, Quake, CS, etc., although they were fun games, but nothing came close to this game (in my opinion). Despite what some people said about the bugs that is in the game, I didn't even noticed that there were bugs to begin with. As of current, most bugs have been fixed. Some of you might be discouraged at your first try, but if you stick to it, I believed that you will actually enjoy the gameplay that if offers. Its never a same battle the second time around. Just remember that its a teambase game and that you play it as "take a role" stand point of view. That way, you will enjoy the most of this game. Sure, some complains that they don't get enough actions or kills, but this is not a UT or Quake where there are alot of senseless killing. Even then, once you're familiarized with the maps, control, menuvering around, and how the games are being played, you can average 20-30 kills/game. My highest was 54 kills and I'm not even a pro at it yet! It takes alot of practice and patient.

This game will required you to used every strategies that will benefit you and your team. Its a great challenge once you find someone to play along side with. There are plenty of vehicle to play around with, and if you mastered that, you can run your enemies down with even the flying shrike; now thats skills. And in maps that has less fog or no fog at all, its a sniper paradise (I hate snipers; LOL). When the action gets really intense, you will be lost in waves of explosion from bombs and fusion mortars, plasma and chaingun bullets flying all over the place, your teammate dropping, blown into piece, yelling and screaming of agony; you won't be disappointed. NOW thats action for you.

For connection, I will admitted that you will enjoy more from a Cable/DSL connection. But thats not to say that you can't enjoy or play Tribes 2 with a 56K connection. I started off with a 56K, joined games that had low pings and fewer people, and I didn't really had that much of a problems. Just a few lags and and timeout. But the patches that were downloaded has greatly improved that. If you have a Cable/DSL connection, like I now do, join a game with 64-80 (sometime 128) players and get ready for some intense action. If you need practice, just host a LAN game by yourself and practice with the bots. The bots comes with difficulty setting.

Over all, I really recomment this game to other. Its a great game that will leave you wanting for more. Definitely get this game if you're into teambase. If you need someone to play along side, look me up (Blazing Tiger) and would gladdly help you enjoy the best of this game.

Tribes 2 is a really fun game. Sierra/Dynamix got just about everything right. Of course, what's unique about the Tribes series is that players are equipped with a jet-pack. This adds a whole new dimension of speed, vertical movement, and FPS mayhem to the contest.

The weapons are a kick. There's the Tribes standard Disk Launcher, which shoots explosive blue frisbees. It has a medium rate, medium damage, and high speed shot which explodes on contact. There's my favorite, the grenade launcher, which has a medium range and requires the player to arc their shot accurately. It's a good all around choice. There is the laser rifle, which shoots a light-speed red beam and satisfies the inner sniper in all of us. The player must wear the energy pack. The chaingun is the finishing weapon great for gunning down opponents attempting to survive or escape by going aerial. Then there are some lesser used weapons like the shock lance which kills any opponent instantly if used from behind. It's fun for stealth kills and dealing with incoming heavies. There is the ELF, which drains the enemy's power, rendering them "grounded" or shieldless as the case may be. The standard blaster is pretty useless but you can really burn an opponent if you sneak up behind them and get a blaster kill. And there's a rocket launcher for the bigger armor types that can lock on to exhaust ports and deliver a real stinger. Finally the mighty mortar, available only to the heavy armor, delivers a lethal blast in about a 40 foot radius. Great for base-raping and disintegrating enemies in light armor. Hilarious to see when a shell lands smoking in front of an unwitting player.

The vehicles are fantastic too. The gunship is kind of useless but being part of a good bomber crew is one of the more satisfying experiences in any shooter out there, mark ye. Then there is a tank, which is fun for running over guys. There is a grav cycle and a single player fighter, both of which will test the skill of any FPS player worth his salt. Every facet of the game is loaded with humor; well as much humor as you can stand in simulated mass death and total destruction, anyway.

The visuals are quite good even years after release, and the sound is remarkable with huge bass sounds if your subwoofer and speaker system can deliver the punch. The maps are great. The play is fast and furious. You can approach the game many different ways due to different packs (energy, shield, stealth, repair, etc.). You can play defense, chase down flag grabbers, or defend the generator. Or you can raid the enemy base, go for the flag, skirmish, go stealth and take out unwitting enemies. The possibilities are endless. Admittedly, things can get frustrating if the enemy is concerted and organized in their assault. But if you find your role or just play smart and learn some tricks, you can become your very own one-man wrecking crew.

The voice menus are amusing, and they add a touch of fun to the game. There are about 14 or so different voices to choose from, each with a bunch of different taunts, compliments, and statements. I often find myself laughing out loud or imitating the voices in my daily grind.

Now what I want to know is, if Tribes 2 offers all this for 5 dollars total, has great graphics and gameplay, super sound, fast and chaotic action requiring skill and expertise, tons of play approaches, headsets/voice communication, killer weapons, and you get to jet around a plethora of cool maps at 200 mph...then why the heck are only 700 people playing in the whole country?

At any one time of day you can log on to Counter-Strike and find 50 to 60 thousand players and 100 thouand or more during peak hours. What the heck? Tribes 2 is a vastly superior game in every department, and yet Counter-Strike (also a Sierra game) practically has a monopoly on online play. I just don't get it. Come on people, pick up a copy of Tribes 2 and get to fightin'. It puts CS to shame (as well UT2004, Quake 3, CofD, MofH, and many others much newer-to be honest)! What's wrong with online gamers these days? There's more to multiplayer than Counter-Strike. Tribes 2 is super fun, easy to learn, and still has an active community. Don't let those little girly-men who couldn't handle the learning curve scare you off with their namby-pamby reviews Tribes 2 offers everything you could want in an online FPS, and it requires a good amount of skill to learn and excel at. So come on people! Get with the program: Tribes 2.

TRIBES 2 is the best buy of 2001

Tribes 2 is the BEST multiplayer, shootem-up game, that one could purchase this year. It incorporates a multitude of different weapons, weapon accessories, and backpacks (Energy container, repair, etc...). The game also includes 6 different vehicals, air and ground, that, when used effectively, will give the team a deffinate advantage. To all thoughs that do no know the TRIBES universe, you must experiance it yourself for I know that it is the best.

I just bought a 64mb graphics card and, when installed, Made the games superb. My friends. If you are looking for an online (inckuding LAN), or 1 player shootem-up game, this is the game for you.

Tribes 2: One-of-a kind FPS game

Having read the reviews of this game I was a little skeptical about its quality. I've been playing FPS games since Doom 1 so I've been around the block so to speak. I tried the demo before I bought it and it's a blast! Halo (on the xbox) was wise to borrow the vehicle concept, which I must admit is much more impressive on T2. Where this game really shines is the strategy you can use, a true rarity in most FPS aim and kill-type games! The choices you have before you are almost endles such as choosing armor, packs, and weapons. I would say this works both ways for you and the computer, seldom when you replay a map will the same things happen as before.

I am not sure about the complaints people have had with the requirements for this game. I use a P3-700 with 512Mb of RAM and a Geforce256 with 32Mb of DDR RAM. The game runs flawlessly for me at 800x600x32. If you are knowledgeable with PC's you should know this was pretty cheap system to put together. If T2 is giving you performance issues I would try more RAM before any other upgrades. I think it's the best option because it is the least expensive and improves your system's overall speed.

The only real complaint I have against this game is that it is lacking in the single-player mode. For me this is a big deal as I dont't like playing online continuously. Also, some people might not like it because of the steep learning curve but for me it makes T2 a much more enjoyable experience.

Tribes 2 is making a comeback.

This is the best game, it has everything!

This is what makes Tribes 2 better than the rest: deployable turrets and sensors, system management, lots of armors, large (infinite size - I'm not kidding) maps with fully functional terrain, full interactive water environments, jet packs, unique voices, realistic vehicles - ground and flying, a true voting system for administration, kicking, map change, team damage, game mode, etc, actual weather that effects you as you play (i.e. lightening will strike and hit people and vehicles), unique character voices and animations, indoor environents that rival anything Quake 3 has to offer, and more.

There is a new patch coming...Tribes 2 has lots of gameplay modes, not just CTF, and you can get mods that change these modes.

It has the most advanced voting system, graphics, use of vehicles, and animations and sounds to date - and look at the date I'm writing this review - I'm comparing it to recent 2002 games.

Get it, you won't regret it!

Tribes 2 is a sequel-based game to the classic Starsiege and the later-released Starsiege Tribes 1. Overall this game is great for your typical hardcore gamer, as this game is fast-paced and action-packed. Many users will find this game challenging, as the level of competition increases every year as the popularity increases. The game has many features that are suitable for most users:

Great graphics and Highly Detailed

Excellent Online Gameplay, with everything at your fingertips.

Excessively Large and Friendly Online Community

Well-Organized and Built-In Community with Chat, Customization Options, Forums, Automatic Updates, News, and Training.

Customization Options, such as 'Your Own Tribe' (Clan), and and skin options from Different types of armor to your Player Name.

Over 4 Different Types of Vehicles you can drive from 1-6 player support (meaning 1 through 6 players may ride in the same vehicle, depending on the vehicle.)

And so much more, I could go on and on!
The Technical System Requirements are fitted to work on most systems:

Operating Systems

Win95B, Win98, Win2K, WinME, WinNT (Service Pack 4.0), and Win XP

System RAM
64MB Minimum (128MB Suggested)

Hard Drive Space
531MB Hard Drive (with 300MB Swap Space)

Peripherals
DirectSound-compatible Sound Card required
DirectInput-compatible Controllers are supported

CPU Speed
Video Cards (12MB VRAM or better REQUIRED)

Min CPU (300Mhz) : GeForce, GeForce 2, Diamond Viper II, ATI Rage 128.

Min CPU (400Mhz) : TNT, TNT2, Radeon, Matrox G400, Matrox G450, Voodoo 3

Min CPU (500Mhz) : Voodoo 2, Voodoo 4, Voodoo 5, Kyro, Permedia 3.

NOTE: Any card listed at a lower CPU can be used (of course) with higher CPUs. The listed CPUs are MINIMUMS for those cards.

ALSO NOTE: The Voodoo 3 has a lower threshhold CPU than the V4 & V5 because its drivers handle texture swapping better.

ONE LAST NOTE: Some of these cards actually perform adequately on lower systems than I list here, but graphics have to be turned down to a point that we find unacceptable. Users can make up their own minds on that, if they wish.

And as I said this is a great game, probably one of the best games for computer, with the Unreal Tournament Series as an alternative...

Before you listen to all the Problems of T2 look at the FACTS

Fact 1. (this is how to solve your problems)

If you have a VooDoo card then dont even think about buying this game... (my suggestion would be to buy a new card and throw the VooDoo in the trash... get a Geforce2 Ultra like me... cheapest at pricewatch... the entire Geforce2 family is good) As most of us all know 3DFX went down the tube, which means no more driver updates, which in turn means as better games come out the suckier the VooDoo will become)

Fact 2

Tribes 2 is simply the BEST game i have EVER played and i have played alot of em' If you have a 500 Mhz + and a Geforce2 card (if you dont i suggest that its time to upgrade) BUY IT. The GAME ROCKS GRAPHICS GAMEPLAY EVERYTHING.

Fact 3

If you have a problem with teamplay then i suggest join a clan... T2 is BUILT around clans... Clans = Team = teamwork. dont avoid the game cause of this problem... Join a clan. Even then, not ALL matches in T2 have no teamplay most do. Be a commander.

Fact 4

Did i mention T2 ROCKS?! :P If you dont get T2 you will miss out.

Reasons to get T2:

The Game's graphics are simply AWSOME (must be turned to full or close) need a GeForce2

GREAT community features... built in email, forums, personal warrior page.......... everything that clan warriors would want.

T2 is one of a kind: No other game besides Tribes1 & 2 deliver true environments with limitless boundries and vehicle capabilities. Anyone who owned Tribes, UT, or Quake will want T2

Peace OUT! :)

Great game, of course its great cause its Tribes. Hopefully the re-release (which this is) will be smoother than the original. Like the ability to just install, to current patched state. Saves from having to download patches and manually install them. Shoutouts to TribalWar, 4M, TribesTalk etc

Not a bad game, not so hard to install

Installed with no problems on HP Pavilion 8575C: P3 550 Mhz, 128 meg ram, 20 gig hd, Guillermot Prophet (nvidia) 32 meg video card (latest nvidia drivers), and WIndows ME. No tweaking required. It came right up and runs FAST. First graphics which move so fast I feel slightly dizzy sometimes. Game graphics are terrific. Character setup is diverse. Hey Siera, ease up on the key combos...too many to remember. I'm using and MS Sidewinder Commander for 6 key combos on my left hand. Using the mouse on the right hand, and I still need to use 20 or so keys !!! Great options for voice messaging, as well as preset voice commands but, the key sequences are 3 and 4 key combos...ahhhhh, too much... Game is fun in training/lan mode or internet but could use more maps and game play options. Game auto patches when you log online, which is nice. A good buy at the Amazon price for a game almost on par with Counter-Strike.

Awesome game, but one problem.

This game is downright awesome. The graphics are good and so are the levels, but one problem. If you're playing online, you'll need a fast internet connection so you don't have any/some lag. If you're using 56k, I would suggest you stay with a ping of 240 and below. If it goes higher than that, I suggest you quit. I have a 56k, so I only chose that much ping. Don't get DSL because you like this game, if you have multiple reasons to get it, get it. It would just be waste of money if you just got it for this game. I would've given it a 5 stars, but it needs very fast computers and fast internet connections. I have a fast PC, but slow connection. You also need a good video card, I have a Ati Raedon, some people say Geforce 2 is good. So in my conclusion, this game is awesome.
