I dont see why you are having problems with your settings. I maxed out all my settings and i only have 450mHz,320MBram,GeForce4 MX420 64MB, and DSL (although im just about 10 blocks from the phone company and get a 1.2MB connection). It runs fine for me. For the review: There are many detailed reviews already here so im not going to bother. The fact is, this is a great multiplayer online game. I highly recommend it to any fans of RTCW, MoH, or any other FPS for that matter.

Best FPS yet? Yes!

I've played First Person Shooters for nearly 10 years now, and I've always wanted one like this. Other games have tried giving you control of vehicles, but none has done it as sucessfully as EA has now.

Yes, the game is Bandwidth intensive, but once you find a good T1 hosted server it is so much fun!

This game offers more ways to die than most any game I've ever played. My favorite method for allowing someone to rest in pieces is to run them down with a Jeep, Tank, or Armored Car. There is also alot to be said for killing a medic, then using his med kit to restore your own health.

Teamwork makes this game one of the best ever. Grab a B-17 and fly around while your buddy mans the belly gun, or work as a spotter while your buddy fires the cannons on the battleship.

Read the hardware requirments, but you should do that with any new game. The disc for this game has set up permant residence in my CD drive.

What a game should be...

This game is one of the most wonderfull things to hit the game market in recent history. It has all of the spark of Wolfenstein without all the trashy zombies, and is easyier to control than Operation: Flashpoint. For those gamers who are looking for a hybrid between Rainbow Six, Operation Flashpoint, and Medal of Honor with out the excessive strategy, the difficult controlls, and the campy unrealistic settings, this game is for you and all your friends!!!

Well...

I see a lot of one star reviews here and I think those people are justified in their complaints. But seriously, this game wasn't made for a grand single-player campaign, it was meant to be played online. Frankly, I thought Medal of Honor was great, BUT could you fly a plane in MOH? I think not. Could you control the main battery of a battleship in MOH? I think not. Yes, there is lag, but well, if you play with AI bots, your computer has to control them as well as control the environment and vehicles, so there's a lot there for your processor to handle. I was surprised to see lag on my P4 1.8ghs but well, so what? You tune down the AI or decrease the number of bots, or you GO ONLINE! I found the game highly enjoyable and only get mad when some sniper that I don't even know about puts a shot into me at some unbelievable range, but well, war isn't the fun thing we've been led to believe...

The Best Game Ever!

I think this is the best game ever. Make sure your system has a good enough video card and enough memory. If you need more memory, visit http://www.crucial.com.

The graphics engine in this game will blow you away!

...Almost Godlike

Those are the only words that describe this brilliant multiplayer masterpeice. And dats' nooo lie. Although the single player mode can be dull, boring, and at times FAR too easy, the multiplayer is what this game was made for, and it reeeaaaally cooks. Ranking up there with the multiplayer big boys like Counterstrike, and Starcraft, the playabillity, and REplayability of this game is such that it is almost a sin. Each map is huge, normally with several vehicles, stationary guns, AA turrets, cannons, boats and other marvels of 1940s millitary technology, all of which you can jump in and out of quickly. In my personal favorite mode of play (conquest) you go to the hot spots on the map, and fight to conquer them for your team, which is a great and inovative way to keep people busy with TWO objectives, kill people, and take over strategic points of the map.

Unfourtunatly, there was alot left untouched that really ruin the dynamics of online play. On maps with team killing enabled, everyone will crowd around the spawn point for one plane, then kill each other trying to take it. While this is easily fixable by simply turning off teamkilling, its still an annoyance. Another problem would be the many glitches the game is riddled with. However all these problems are VERY easy to see past. I reccomend this game to anyone that enjoys war simulations of any kind. There is a reason this game is the massive hit it is.

PROS:
Lots of vehicles, including airplanes, tanks, boats, and jeeps
A good amount of detailed maps.
Weapons up the wazoo, Submachine guns, sniper rifles, rifles, machine guns, hand guns, Grenades, knives, AA stations, stationary machine guns, artillary, and more.
Decent graphics for a game so huge.
Good system, allowing you to get online and play QUICK. No Gamespy required!
Free maps released every once in a while by EA!

CONS:
Frequent glitches
Some mild lagging even on top-of-the-line equipment

Awsome game. I would strongly recomend buying this game - though you should have a good computer. . Also don't buy this game for just the single player - the multi is way more tougher, intresting, and funner, plus in multi-player they add battle ship, subs, and bomber (single or co-op, human and comp vs human and comp mulitplayer, don't have these vehicles. The weapons and vehicles are very cool. Vehicles range from tanks to airplanes to BATTLE SHIPS with tons'o'guns. The weapons are bases on kits - you pick each time you respawn. Each kit has a certain "theme" (scout, assult, medic, engineer, and anti-armor), you get the weapons in the kit and stick with them until you die or you pick up another kit you find (when a person gets killed they drop thier). Unfortunaly since its based on kits you cant kill everybody - this has happened to me many times - I have a good anti-infantry kit and I start shooting, but then a tank comes and blows the crap outa me. Next I pick the anti-tank kit when I respawn hoping to kill the tank. When I find him I hit and run, hit and run until he is dead. After hes killed I walk around, run into an enemy with a sub-machine gun and he shoots the crap outa me. You see my problem? OH well, I guess it's "more realist" and it adds an interesting twist. Still an awsome game though. And a tip - don't buy expansions to this game if you have an internet connection - download mods. The game has a special option just for this purpose. (If you want a good mod download Desert Combat, I also heard the Forgotten Hope mod is well done). Though if you have a crappy internet connection they may take awhile (mine took half the night with a 300K connection), the Desert Combat mod is 550MB.

The ultimate, especially for those on broadband

BF1942 is a great game, but its not really the game im writing about. Its how this game can be expanded. For those who buy games and then get sick of them because its the same old thing, this game does not deliver that. The mods are amazing, You can d/l mods like Desert Combat, Merciless, Heavy Bombardment, Black Hawk Down, even a star wars mod. Plus with 2 expansion pack already released and more to come.. This game is just SWEET... I have yet to play a better WW2 game especially one thats as enjoyable as this, fast paced, fun, and realistic, all i can say its great.. TO bad that after a recent video card upgrad it crashes to my desktop though.. yes thats the downfall.. i cannot play BF1942 currently because i have not found a walk around on my crash to desktop issue. And its not just an issue with me.. many users have this problem and are unhappy with the game for that reason.. well im getting a 9800 Pro "best vid card on the market' maybe that will fix my problem.

Great game, you must buy it

Overall, the game is really fun, its one of my favorites. However, there are some negatives. You must have a pretty fast computer to run it smoothly, it ran well with my 1 gig, 384mb, 128 geforce4 ti 4400. The single player is very poor because all you do is play the same maps as the multiplayer but with bots. Lastly, in order to enjoy the multiplayer, you must have a broadband connection. The awesome multiplayer, good gameplay, and Desert Combat mod are the main reasons to buy this game.

great game

ok first of all this game has never portrayed itself as a realistic super realism shooter.
its a first person shooter , and a very good one at that.
ive played realistic games (ww2 online ) and they suck because they are too "realistic ". the germans allways win because early in the war they had the worlds greatest army.
battlefield 42 is about balanced gameplay which means its not how big your gun is but how well you use it.
also i love the mods that have come out lately -desert combat-
ect. these mods keep the game fresh and new, in fact some mods do make the game more 'realistic'.
lastly the boys who made battlefield are still putting out patchs that include new maps and weapons,
how many game do that = answer , not very many.
