This game is definitely fun but a little too powerful for the average end computers. For internet gamers, this is a good one, fun and simple to understand with richly layered, though limited in number battlefield environments. The non-internet game is a fun one as well, but only a super powerful computer can truly appreciate the details, figures and sophisticated AI. Make sure your computer has beefy RAM and Processors (512 and 1.5 gigs minimum) to get the most out of this game.

Life as we know it is over with this game. This IS THE only game you will ever need again. I put up my quake 3 for this game, this is serious. Up to 64 players online cant beat it. Anyway, BF41942 Rules!!! Nuff said. Get it or miss out on the greatest game ever. ...

i think this game is excatlly like Medal of Honor....but with a better Multiyplayer. Its pretty cool to fly in a plane bombing a defense person who just so happens to be out off ammo in the heat of battle(a soldiers nightmare). tanks are kinda hard to control though...if you get the hang of them for awhile though its ok. now jeeps are pretty straight forward....just jump in and take a ride......its pretty wierd how this game is based on WW2, because its about (what i like to call gangs) Allies and Axis fighting each other. Major fire power in this game...Single player is a PC gamers dream...though menus take a LONG!! time to load, hope this review (well readme) was cool:)

Playing alone is not as fun as playing over the internet just like many reviewer said. Playing over the internet really makes this game much much more valuable for sure. I have 500 MHz, 320 MB RAM, 64 MB Video Card and works just fine. You don't have to have latest and greatest PC to play this game though box recommends about 700+ MHz. If you are looking for war type internet/network linkable games, you should definitely get this one. I do recommend having high speed internet when you are playing over the internet, or you will absolutely hate playing because internet lagging will cause you to loose life way too often.

first things first- this game would have a 5 if i could just get the friggin game to work for more than 10 minutes at a time!!!!!
it always crashes whenever start up a game- but when it does work, its outta this world. if you see an unoocupied vehicle, its yours. you havent expirenced bliss until you fly a spitfire behind german lines, hijack a tiger, and put a shell in your enemies back without them not even knowing you are there. butthe other EA pc game i got is AALLIED ASSAULT, and it crashes often too. hmmm.... lets ponder this situation. all but 3 of my ps2 games are from ea ( i got 7 ps2s from ea), and i lov them all. SO WHY WONT ANY OF THEIR PC GAMES WORK RIGHT????!!!???

All I can say is...wow. The Graphics are Gorgeus, The Gameplay Is Tight, And Controlling Of Vehicles With The Exception Of Planes (If you don't have a joystick.) is really easy! This game is like putting together two Half-Life Mods: Counter-Strike and Day Of Defeat with a new added formula which is, of course, the vehicles! Now the only flaw in the game, and sometimes of course in Counter-Strike FF On games is the Team Killing! I mean come on, if ya can't get in a plane or get frusterated with your teammates doesn't mean you go on a shooting frenzy! Hopefully they will put up a patch for this. Another huge flaw in the game is the "Lag". Even with running a Pentium 4, 512 DDR Ram, and a really good video card...it will still be laggy! But of all the flaws, it's still a good game. It also has the Counter-Strike Formula: If you dun work with your teammates, you'll lose....badly. This is a really good game, I'm proud to dub this The "Cousin" of Counter-Strike.

The Game Is Cool, The Players Who Are Playing Isn't...

I Played Battlefield 1942 At My Friends, And it Was Fantastic! The Graphics Are Great, And THe Gameplay Was Awesome! But Enough With The Praising, And Get On Wit The Bad Part: "The Players". Even though Battlefield 1942 is a sweet game, some of the players will get a little "too" eccentric in the game. My Point Is This: Some People will TK you for no reason, some will plant mines in front of airfields so no one will get a plane, some will even "blow" up the plane bec. they couldn't get it, and some will be rediculously idiotic and "ditch the plane" after they take off, and that's for the planes that have 2 ppl in them! Even though this game is cool, it needs some tweaking to do like the mines won't affecting the planes that are for a allie but affecting an enemy, but it is based on "realism" so.... this is a perfect game to play!

I've never played a multi-player FPS before (though have played through Half-Life and others in single-player mode), and I'm thrilled to have found this one. I've tried a few other multiplayer FPS games since playing BF 1942, but found they're mostly run-and-gun endeavors - lots of sound and fury, signifying nothing. In BF 1942 it pays to think tactically: do I really want to rush in with my tank alone, letting the enemy pepper me with grenades and whatnot? It's often better to wait for a few friendly infantry to come up and help you. Should I rush up the middle and die, or would it be wiser to sneak around the fringe and surprise them from the rear? You're on a team, you're trying to capture terrain, so the choices are more interesting than "how can I best kill things?" that typify many FPS games.
As far as machine requirements go, my one comment is that a good graphics card makes all the difference. I usually get 60 FPS with my machine, which is a relatively wimpy 1 GHz Pentium III. The secret is that I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 ti 4400.
This game's all about fun - it's pretty easy to get in the action from the first day, without months of practice. You'll die a fair bit, but everyone does. Most games are decided by whether you captured and held terrain, not by total deaths (and deaths don't count against your individual rating). It's also possible to be extremely useful to your team while mellowing out: protect a base, man a flak battery, keep repairing your ship as an engineer. There are lots of useful support roles, if you feel like playing them.
This game inspired me to write a FAQ for it and to annotate all of its 16 maps (so I could know where medical and ammo supply points are - no "powerups sitting in the middle of a field", you need to go to specific places for aid). No game have ever inspired me to do this before. So, yeah, you could say I like it.
Don't waste your money!

This game fell far short of it's potential. The designers should look at Return to Castle Wolfenstein for an example of great game play.
