I used to play monkey island 2 back in middle school days a lot. It pretty much set my idea of what an adventure game should be. Since then, my life's gotten a little busier, and I forgot all about the game. But just one day, I thought of this game and decided to find out more on the internet. I didn't even know that the 3rd one of the series came out back in 97. When I saw it, I didn't even have to read any review. I ordered one right away and it didn't fail me a bit! the 2D animation is very fun to look at, and the voice actors are very talented. The jokes were hilarious and I just couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole game. The story line is very well written as well. There were a couple of parts where I was stuck but w/ others' help, I throughly enjoyed the game. The 4th series just came out (I think) and I sure will get my hands on it as soon as possible!

Absolutely brilliant, my favourite game of all time!

This game is brilliant. It is funny and the graphics are great. I only wish more games could be like this.It is good because you can go back and see if something different has happened if you changed something.

Fun but silly

I didn't have the advantage of playing the previous Monkey Island games, so I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Guybrush Threepwood before. Now I wish I could go back and play those other games because I thought he was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the interactions with the other characters and the humor in the game. The puzzles were just about right: they required some thought but were not so difficult that I got frustrated (usually). The puzzles can be solved with items out of the inventory, so there aren't any mazes or sliding tile puzzles that we all love so much.

The graphics were quite good, although they weren't what I expected. It was more like a cartoon than a three-dimensional picture. But once I got used to it, I liked it.

The one thing I didn't like about this game was that the humor was a bit too blatant. I don't think Guybrush said a single un-funny thing throughout the whole game; it just wasn't in his vocabulary. I would have preferred to have funny moments rather than a whole slapstick comedy routine.

I'd highly recommend this game to adventure gamers. There isn't any blood or any real violence that I can remember (outside of a little swordplay), so it's safe for kids but it might not be fun for people who like a lot of violence in their games.

This is a real step up from the first two games in the series. Better animation, voices, and awesome environments. If you liked the first two you will love this one. The characters are a blast; Guybrush, Elaine, Lechuck, the annoying little brat, and my personal favorite Murray the talking skull. The cannibals from the first episode also make a cameo appearance. Both skill levels offer challenges, the harder level obviously has more. The game has many things to look forward to including ship battles, dueling banjos, more swordfighting insults, and hours of entertainment. Well worth the money.

Great game but be careful

Just a warning to the wise...I have a brand new PC laptop and I had enormous problems with this game...it is not supported on laptops and newer systems with new video and sound cards may not be compatable...it was a great game all the same but I feel like I missed half of it due to technical problems and this is not the first time I have had this problem with lucas arts games. Make sure you check the requirements carefully!

A really great and underrated game.
When it comes to games in this genre - Broken Sword, Day of the Tenticle, Grim fandango etc - Curse of Monkey Island is the very best. I have never had so much fun playing any game, even when compared to the latest 3D games. It's addicting and fun and funny and smart and stupid. Smartly stupid. It doesn't have much to offer in terms of graphix because it looks like a cartoon - but really that's the whole point - the graphics suit the game just perfectly and offer plenty of artful backgrounds with a lot of color.
At fist glance this game seems a little childish, but as you play your way through it you encounter many tough obstacles that you really have to think to get yourself out of. Although, sometimes you have to solve a particular problem by doing something or combining something that makes absolutely no sence, which adds to the comedy factor, but can also be anoying if you've spent hours trying to get past it.
This game is a must-play for anyone who had fun playing the old Maniac Mansion games, and for anyone who enjoys fun games that can make them laugh out loud.
Buy it! Now!

Sorry for the title. I figured it was a good attention grabber plus Guybrush says this many a time juring this game...

This is an excellent game! The cartoon graphics are cute, and they work quite well surprisingly. The characters themselves are well drawn and are have very individual, unique personalities.
I love the wit in this game. I found myself laughing out loud sometimes inspite of myself.
This is a very original and clever game, and it is far superior to many I have played.

(P.S. If you like this game, try playing "Escape from Monkey Island"- which isn't quite as good as this one though but still good- and "Grim Fandango" which I highly recommend!).

best ever
