My issue is with the game maker Encore not the game there are too many things that will not let you play version of this game. I had go into "MSCONFIG" and shut everything down to even get it to load. And as is the "norm" these days you can't get a service rep that speaks English clearly to help find the trouble. I would say find a different company, not Encore to buy the game from. O and their idea of a "Jewel case" is a paper envelope wrapped in a piece of card board.
Scrabble, great fun!

I'd owned Scrabble CD for two years after being given one for a birthday--then I moved, and I couldn't find my CD. I looked and looked, and I finally ordered a new one. I really enjoy playing on the computer with Maven. It is a mini-vacation, takes me away from everyday and puts things into perspective. I recommend Scrabble CD!

Interesting, that is, as it's dated some 2 weeks before the title is available. Sorta makes one doubt its accuracy. Scrabble 1 and 2 have been available for quite a while now (and are [inexpensive] now too); hopefully Scrabble 3 will be an improvement but seeing as I've seen no info whatsoever from Inforgrammes or elsewhere about what differences it has, I'm not holding my breath. (The one star is only because there has been no info about Scrabble version 3. Version 2 is certainly fun.
Great Game!!

This Scrabble game is not very appealing to adults, because they think you "cheat" when you press the word suggestions button or hint button. I thing suggestions improve your vocabulary and tell you what words you can make exactly with the tiles you have and the points. The Dictionary is that you type in a word that you want them to define, and they'll define it. Hint is an easier version of suggestions. The rules are the same as the normal Scrabble. And please believe me, even though I'm a kid that this game works on Windows XP.

The game plays well, but the simple graphics show their age. Background choices are limited, with no capability for buyers to use their own. Fortunately, background music can be turned off.
There is no technical support, even though it is claimed in the documentation. The documentation is a PDF file that is not formatted to print out on 8.5x11 paper. No directions are given on how to print out the PDF file in the reduced size booklet format that is given. The CD must be inserted and remain in your CD drive each time you want to play the game, so there is constant accessing the CD. A much better solution would have been to have everything resident on your system.
It is just good value for the price. If you are willing to put up with the shortcomings, it provides good entertainment when needing something to do by yourself on your computer. You can select several levels of "Maven" expertise, when playing against the computer. This could be a great companion on a long plane, train, or bus trip.
Provision is made for you to play with several other players, via the Internet, but I have not tried that feature.
Love playing against Maven

We have had this game for several years, and it worked fine, then earlier this week, it locked up the computer. After reading the reviews, I disconnected the internet cable and disabled the firewall. Game was perfect. Did an online chat with the McAfee tech, and was asked to close all programs that were on line - cable still connected, firewall still on standard alert. Did that and the game started and ran OK.
So try with IE and OE off line, to see if it runs OK.
Thanks to Cindy at McAfee.
