this game is NOT windows XP compatible. It will lock up your computer and will NOT play. CompUSA will NOT offer any solutions to the problem and will fight you every inch of the way for your refund DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy this game until the manufacturer owns up to the problems and agrees to settle up with everyone they have cheated.

This game is a waste of time and money. Doesn't work with WindowsXP, all I got was a blank screen. Save time and download from gateway games.

Does *not* work for XP. I tried ...

I downloaded the patch from the Atari site. I disabled ZoneAlarm firewall. I turned on ZoneAlarm and allowed total access for the Scrabble executable. I tried several different options for Compatability Mode. I turned off internet access altogether. I tried to do ALT-ESC and ALT-TAB to get out of the program and figure out what was going on.

None of these made any difference. Each and every time I tried to start this on Windows XP SP2 the program give the Black Screen, requiring a reboot to recover.

Playing a game should not be this much work. Highly *not* recommended.

Scrabble Complete - Still locks up XP machines

I purchased this product in July 2006. Earlier versions were reported to lock up computers. I can report that this version thoroughly locks up 2006 vintage XP machines. The blue (or in my case, black) screen of death appears with every startup of the game. Uninstall/reinstall/reboots were no help. Useless!

It has taken over my mind!

I bought and installed Scrabble Complete on my PC with Windows XP OS and had no problems. I enjoyed the game for about a month and then all of a sudden, the computer took over and played for me and I had to quit the game to get it to stop. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and same thing happened. I rebooted my PC and still nothing works. I did this twice and it still won't allow me to play. I have seen this comment several times and am anxiously waiting for a resolution.

Addictive game...once you can get it to load.

Like some previous XP reviewers, I could not load Scrabble without it crashing my computer. A quick google search revealed what was needed to allow Scrabble to play on XP. (Control: Network and Internet Connections: Windows Firewall: Exceptions Tab: Add Program "Scrabble Complete" : OK ) That did the trick for me, Scrabble has been playing perfectly since and I enjoy it greatly.

3 rd scrabble game I have purchased that advertised that it would work on windows xp, and not one of them works

Ridiculous!

a) Requires the CD to be in your drive to play!
b) Online registration attempts to dial a modem!
c) Even though my son entered his age of 12 during the registration, which prevents their requesting any personal information by US federal law, he was required to enter such in order to install.

Previous experience with this company (infogrames) demonstrated their "Technical Support" issues are handled after a period of DAYS!

Highly NOT recommended, as are all infogrames products.

I had the same problem as the others with XP. Pay attention to the reviews, unlike me. All the program did was lock up my laptop. Got a black screen and the only way to shut it off was to take out the battery. Then i had to do a system resore to get rid of all the damage it did.

Freezes up

Great game but after playing a few times and then reloading on my new computer with XP windows version, it never worked again. Refused to load. Now I have to purchase it again and hopefully will receive a CD without glitches.
