Great game, one of the best PS2 games ever. Mixes the genres of driving and shooter. Neat thing about this game is the characters have intermeshing story lines. There are 10 or so playable characters, plus a handful you can unlock by doing special things, which I am not going to tell you, you have to find out for yourself (or cheat). It features two bosses, one of which is unlockable. There are also some levels you can unlock. Any way, great game, great story, and I recomend you buy it if you can. It has been discontinued for some time now, but you can still buy the used version, or get new ones via other sellers on amazon. This the actual sequel to Twisted Metal 2: World Tour. I didn't think 3&4 followed very well. They were still good, but this does a much better job following up. for its age, it has great graphics. When it was originally released, you couldn't find it anywhere. Believe me, it's still that good. If you like multiplayer better, buy the online version. I give this one 5 stars.

The graphics are great I love Sweet Tooth's effect. The robot thing is cool but hard to beat. I can't stop playing it. Well that's all I have to say. Later.

I have played the TM series from the beginning. From #1 to the Small Brawl games for PS1. And now, TM Black. Just like TM2, this game has everything!! But parents please keep in mind that this game has gore and violence. It even says that on the box! This game shouldnt be given to younger children. It's NOT a racing game, or an adventure. Here, you destroy your oppents. Plain and Simple. Ages should go from 10+. but that's just my opinion.

THE BEST TWISTED METAL GAME YET!!!!

I have all the twisted metal games(for ps & ps2)except for twisted metal small brall, and out of the 5 games i think TMB is the best one. This game is not so hard and at the same time not so easy, but it is challenging. TMB has amazing graphics, every thing in this game is very lifelike .Now thier are live people waking around , city traffic , big buildings, and many more lifelike things. The amazing thing is with all these features , the game still runs at a smooth rate, but sometimes it slows just a little.TMB has 3 single player modes, (1) story : where u find ur players story as u progress through the game, (2)challenge: where u choose a battelground and ur enimies and have a fight to the finsh, (3) endurance: in this mode u can see how long u survive by batteling each vechile one by one. 3 multiplayer modes (1)death match : u and a friend choose a car and a battel ground and fight out of 3,5,7 matches. (2)co-op: where u and a friend work as a team to win the game, (3)last man standing: kind of like the death match except u and a friend choose similar vechiles and fight. This game has 18 cars 4 of which are hidden. These 4 hidden cars can be found in secret places. I have found 3 of them, which are located at JUNKYARD level, PRISON PASSAGE level, THE SUBURBS level. There are 11 single player and total 18 multiplayer battel grounds.Every battel ground can take almost 30- 50 minuets to beat , depends on ur skill. So to complete the game 100% can take a long long time.so far i have done about 60 or 70% of the game.i would recomend this game to everyone(at least 13 or 12)even if u are not a tm fan.however there are small problems in the game, there is no speed meter, sometimes Sweet Tooths head is not displayed( i know u might not understand this sweet tooths head thing if u dont have the game),and the images are too dark sometimes ,but never the less these are minior problems which can be overcomed.

The first impression I had of this game wasn't very good. The graphics looked sub-par, and I couldn't hit anything. I just started and got creamed in the first level. The learning curve of such of game was too intense. Car combat is so simple, why should it take a while to get used to it? Anyway, with no advancement and no visual aesthetics, I quickly dismissed this game.

Fortunately, I came back to it. I grew accustomed to the drab, gray graphics, I figured out some strategy, and I switched the difficulty to easy. What happened amazed me. This game which I thought was terrible turned out to be pretty good.

You get to choose between around 12 different characters. Each character pretty much goes through the same levels, so once you've been through a few characters, you've seen all the levels in the game. Each character controls another car, and more importantly, gives you a cool movie describing his or her ordeal.

These movies are what make the game. Though very, very short (nothing close to Final Fantasy X), these little 30-second clips are disturbing, intense, dark, and simply amazing. The credits, with a montage of the various cut scenes played to Rolling Stone's "Fade to Black" is worth the price of this relatively inexpensive game alone.

Even though the graphics could have been better, and the game easier, playing a few characters is worth it. Though I would love to see all the movies, the game gets pretty repetitive. Despite these flaws, I recommend this game.

Pros:
Movies
Ending Credits
Interesting gameplay
Interesting characters
Difficulty levels
Simple game

Cons:
Too gray and drab
Takes forever to kill a vehicle
Initial learning curve
Not enough levels - repetitive

Hours to complete: 6 hours for the first character, 2-4 hours for additional characters (12 characters total)

Difficulty: Medium (for easy level)

Frustration: Medium (mostly from the beginning)

Not what I expected

I was totally unfamiliar with the series when I picked up this game. I was expecting an Interstate76 style game with a worth while story mode and great multiplayer. The multiplayer in Twisted metal is great but I wasnt thrilled with the story mode. You fight in a tournement instead of driving full out missions, which put a huge damper on my liking.
The games graphics are great and just driving around and running things over is enjoyable. The cons definetely dont matter that much when you see how much the game is. A cheap but well worth while buy.

The newest Twisted Metal is the best yet. Twisted Metal Black is one of the best games for PS2 hands down. Besides beautiful graphics, TM:B has gigantic battlegrounds and almost everything everywhere can be destroyed.

Parents should only purchace this product if they trust their child because of the violance and the character's intro movies. Even some of their faces will scare you half to death. But if you can get your hands on this game, you really should.

TM:B also has challenging bosses to face and also bonus characters can be unlocked. Weapons have changed for the better I think. There are plenty of all-new battlegrounds to tear apart, too.

My favorite battleground is probably the Suburb. In single-player mode, there are plenty of pedestrions When you destroy someone, a man on fire runs away from the wreckage. Also, my favorite character has always been Spectre. And to see him (or her) return is awesome. When Twisted Metal 3 and 4 came out I was happy about seeing Spectre in 3, but not 4.

In all, TM:B is my all-time FAVORITE game for any platform. It's just too cool.

Pretty good

The best one yet of the series. Impressive graphics and gameplay. But, suppossedly they're coming out with an online version soon, so you might want to save your money for that.

Lives Up To Its Title

This game earns its rating. With most of the characters, they have a story which you unlock as you progress further into the game. And they are dark stories. Most of the endings are "happy" in the sense that the character gets what he wants--but what they want is often a very dark revenge. There was one character whose story I found uncomfortable on a personal level, and I didn't take him. The characters who want to do some good end up dead. Are the makers trying to something here? In any case, this game is NOT for youngsters.

As for the game itself, it is good. The controls can be modified to suit your taste, and the control is smooth. The graphics don't take full advantage of the PS2, but when you consider everything it has to do, you let it slide. All in all, a good game--if you can stomach it.

Let me put TM:Black in one word, WOW!! This game is a must for every PS2 gamer. The graphics are a huge leap from any of the other TM. The music never gets old or annoying. Controls take you about one game to get used to. Difficulty? There's plenty of that in TM:Black. Just to find the blackcubes(BY YOURSELF OF COURSE) that unlock scenerio could take you DAYS. Oh yeah, in the winter you're going to be able to play TM: Black online, against other players! Don't let the failure of TM3 and TM4 stop you from buying this awesome game. If you buy it and play it, its like TM3 and 4 never happen, trust me.
