The first two Twisted Metal games were awesome, then three and four came along and pretty much totally sucked. Now that Twisted Metal: Black is here fans of the first two great Twisted Metal games can rejoice, because this game is by far the best Twisted Metal games to date. I guess its easy to say that since this is the first one on the powerful PS2, but its not only graphics that make this game amazing. The gameplay is superd wheather you're playing the tough computer opponents or up to three of your friends. Another great thing about TMB is the atmosphere created by the charectors and the style of the levels, the only word that desribes it is "dark". All in all, I have no complaints about this game, which is a very rare occurence. So if you're a fan of some great vehicular combat action, this is the game that you need.

This game is the one reason to own a PS2. This game makes you completely forget about Twisted Metal 3 & 4. It even makes you forget about 2. In fact, the only one it reminds you of is the origional because it so origional, yet a million times better and more incredible. Simply put, you must own this game.

A sick and twisted game, with hellish and abnormal characters. With new and better graphics, better company making it, and tons of playing time, this is a must have for the PS2. The basic gameplay is like any other Twisted Metal...well exclude 3 and 4 please :). This, unlike 3 and 4, is made by the people that made Twisted Metal 1 and 2.(Those were the good ones). Now, this game is not like the others. It was rated "M" for a reason.
Some of the scenes in the game, are scary, horrific, and well, down right bloody. There is a little of the bad language, but that isn't too bad. The characters in the game, have their wown reasons for going into the battle, and well, there are some reasons that are just sickening. For example(not trying to give away the game, I am only doing this to save some children from getting in trouble, or seeing horrific images), Sweet Tooth, on the cover of the box, is a serial killer clown, who went to the asylum. He got to the electric chair, and then had a curse put on him, to make his head always on fire. While he goes through the battles, you start to find out more and more about him.(this is for all of the characters) He killed children, and many other people. This sorda grossed me out, since they showed all of the dead corpses and stuff, but heck, what can I say, they don't call it TM: black and rate it "M" for nothing. I won't tell the rest, because I don't want to spoil the end.
If you thought this sounded disgusting and disturbing, you have not heard anything yet. This game is really only recommended for people who can stand gross things, or love gross things, and love Twisted Metal. Otherwise, rent this before you buy this kids ;)
Don't Read This...you should be buying the Game!

Yes I admit, at my advanced age (forty something) I am a Twisted Metal Fan. We wore out our playstation with TM2. When I heard the same guys that did TM2 were developing TMB for the PS2, well, I did the unthinkable, I bought it without ever playing it...it is the best console video game I have ever played. The car handling, the gratifying explosions, the game play and go ahead and fire up the surround sound ("REPENT!"...BOOM!)...OH YESSSS!!!...Anyway, we are already in trouble for spending too much time on the PS2 because of this game and it just got here! Don't do ANYTHING other than somehow owning Twisted Metal: Black. It is the best, don't read the reviews, don't search the net looking for insight, don't even eat if it will help you to save up the money to get this game. Just buy the game and have delirious, destructive fun. THIS is why they built the PS2.

My friend has this game and I've played it multiple times. Twisted Metal Black has very good graphics, very good gameplay, and a very challenging plot. The main goal is with your vehicle, to pick up an assortment of weapons, and destroy enemy cars. This game is mainly rated "M" because the graphics make it seem more realilistic and the instruction manual (which is pretty gruesome.)
Pretty cool

Twisted metal black is probably the best TM game yet, probably because its on PS2 but the gameplay, graphics and oter stuff is awesome, All the characters are from an insane asylum. one guy has no face, another has a doll mask nailed on theirs and theirs cool cars like a semi, station wagon tank combo, and an icecream truck. And its also made from the creaters of tm1 and tm2 so it doesnt suck like tm3 and tm4. and theirs new weapons and specials and arenas, my favorite is the freeway. basically its the perfect edition to the twisted metal series

I bought a playstation originally because of the Twisted Metal series, specifically the second one...I got three shortly after that and found it fun, but only when you tweaked it to its limit, but otherwise it was disappointing. It made me never even buy the fourth one. But when Black came out, I HAD to get it.
This game, GT3, and MGS2 are why i bought a PS2. The game has PERFECT graphics and framerate, and the control was sweet; better than ANY other twisted metal. The cars had cool specials (I wanted Mr. Slam to come back, though), and the storylines are crazy and really give you a good feel for how crazy these twisted metal freaks really are. They're well written too; makes you feel like you're watching a movie. They basically took the best TM (the second one) and made it fit to a PS2, adding a few things here and there that somehow made it sooo much better.
If you're even thinking about getting this game, GET IT!!! I can't say more than that. EVERYTHING about it is perfect. I'm usually a rational person, and there's no way I can even imagine something wrong with this holy creation of a game.

This game is just great. Even though I suck at it. It's just so awesome I'm forced to try to get better so the story will continue. The levels are beautiful in the darkest way. The music is creepy cool. And the awesome Rolling Stones' song "Paint it Black" just adds to the whole game. Get it even if you are a sorry gamer.
