Innovation at a cost.

One the one hand "Legend Of Mana" is very innovative. It's the first game I know of which allows the user to assemble his own world, create his own weapons, grow special plants, train monster, and create golems. The user can also import another character from a previous saved game and add them to the party.

On the other hand the games non-linear plot line is not a bonus in my book. When I play game, I want to have a goal to achieve. I want to be able to say "Yes, it was I who saved the Queen!"

Not to the mention the game is just too easy. While playing, my character has only died once (really early in the game). I don't do anything special when fighting, I just keep hitting until the enemy drops. The quests themselves seem to simply consists of either going from point A to point B.

If I was to give Electronic Arts a grade on this game, I'd give them a "C".

An interesting game

This is an enjoyable game to play, with completely non-linear gameplay. If you're looking for an entertaining play, check out this game. For a game with more of a storyline, take a look at the Final Fantasy series or a Lunar or Suikoden game.

Legend of Mana....deffinetly not a sequel

After reading many reviews for the game prior to purchase, once I did buy the game I immediently went in, not expecting it to be like Secret of Mana. I think that is what saved the game from being utterly stupid. DO NOT expect something like Secret of Mana...the only similarities are the enemies you fight, and the mention of the Mana Tree (which is part of the 15 minute story in this game.) I do admit that I did enjoy it while I played, but after beating it in only 15 hours, I was expecting so much more, not as a sequel to SoM, but just as an RPG itself! Where is the story? Besides, this game is way too easy for a veteran RPGer. I would honestly only recommend this game if you are bored easily and need some time to kill. I wish I would have rented it instead that way I could finish it in a weekend and not have had to waste $ on it. Dissapointing....

alright this is one of the LAMEST games i have played since Yoshis Story. the "side quests" are in all respects worthless, and you don even need to do more than half of them to beat the game. the ending leaves a lot to be desired as all it is is a fight with a VERY easy boss that will take you 5 minutes. The game has a "New Game +" feature like Chrono Trigger, but the game is already so easy noone needs THAT feature. If your looking for a childish RPG that will take u about 15 hours to defeat (as opposed to Final Fantasy games which take at least 60), then this game will STILL be a worthless use of your system

the best square action/rpg yet

the replay value on this game is infinite, youll never get the same game twice!

Only one thing to say....

I only have one thing to say....This is the worst example of a sequel, EVER. My least favort game, until now, was Final Fantasy VIII....But this...This "game" is far worse. It's does not even resemble Secret of Mana.

Bottom line:

DON'T WASTE MONEY OR TIME ON THIS HORRIBLE GAME!

Legend of mana is a great game. Allowing you to customize many parts of the game. When you start out you can choose a weapon of choice what square of the map you live on and where your house is.

I'm not happy that one of the reviewers say that the pet raising element is "pokemon-like". You don't even have to do anything for them. Once you get one, you have an ally, that's all.

In this game you can also:

Make weapons/armor
Make golems
Make magical instruments
Import a previous character you've made to be AI or 2P controlled
Grow Fruit
And read the diaries of the little cactus that lives upstairs

All and all, this is one of my favorite games.

legend of mana stratagies and information

First of all, I would say this is the best game I have ever played. The music is both soothing and adrenilin pumping. The plot is ingenious, new, and exciting. All of the 69 mini quests are brain racking. This game is NOT the sequal to secret of mana, It is the 3rd or 4th edition of a sequal. Secret of mana is #2, seiken denjitsu (NOT in united states) #3, and legend of mana #4.

The hand-drawn background is stuning. There are artifacts you can find and all contain a diffrent and uniquemini quest. Some miniquests contain 2 or more artifacts that you can place anywhere on the map. After you destroy a creature, small blue stones fly out. Small ones are wonth 3 expierense each. Large stones that pop out from a chest after you beat a boss are worth 10. Grab them quickly or they will dissapear. Bags that pop out have items. Candies restore health.

To use a special, you must first go to the action button in the start menue and select SP. When you get to a battle, atack using x(quick atacks)in a rythimatic pattern untill the bar under oure health starts flashing, hit the R or L button that youre faorite special is programed on.

Couldn't put it down!

Great game. Really unique combat system. You get to move around slashing everything in sight. Basically a bunch of quests rolled into one game. If you love side quests this is the game for you. Lots of partners, pets, and even golems! It even has a 2 player mode so you can beat up a giant crab while talking about which quest you'll do next.Only one word can describe this game,GREAT!
