Takes the original and moves it to unknown heights. The physics engine is just as accurate as in the original. Add in more cars, more tracks, more tuning options, and even rally racing and you have the hottest game for the PlayStation..... you will obsess over playing this one...
Best Ever Console Racing Game

If you want to drive a real car. If you want that awesome feeling of screaming past some other driver on the inside line. GT2, and GT1 are as close as you will ever get. DO NOT believe in other driving games until you experience this simulator for yourself. Complex and detailed and real make GT2 ( the follow up to Gran Turismo ) the best driving game to date. And coming from a guy that is 34 and who grew up around arcade driving games such as Pole Position, and super sprint, and Grand National 500....they do not even compare. Get yourself a license and feel the real need for speed.
A worthy sequel; Just short of revolutionary

Let me begin by saying that I reccommend this game to anyone who can enjoy a good racing game. That being said, Gran Turismo 2 is just short of being the evolution in racing games that the original Gran Turismo was when it was released. While a layer of polish has applied to the exterior of this beautiful game, on close inspection, you'll find that some aspects feel unfinished. My major gripe is that the Rally racing mode feels like it was thrown in last minute. Add to that the bugs that shipped with the finished game, (possible to lose your entire garage accidentally) and I'm forced to take a star from an otherwise stellar game. The cars are just as slick and well represented as before, and now there's even more of them to choose from. Bottom line: if you can look past it's flaws, GT2 is a great sequel to the best racer of all time.
It just gets better and better!

GT2 imphasizes on all of the good things in GT1. There's more cars, better graphics, better tracks, and better gameplay.

This was a great game. I loved playing it, but after a while it got old, like every other game does. It has all the great cars and some that arn't so great. I do recommend this game. It will keep you entertained for a good while anyway.
Greatest racing game!!!

Its pretty easy to sum up; Gran turismo is simply the best racing game EVER. I've have been playing almost nonstop since i got it. It's amazing how much detail they put into this game. For the engine sound for the cars, they recorded what the actual car sounded like and put it in the game. There are 600+ cars, and each has its own unique handling. If you don't have this game, you don't know what you're missing. (...)
Great racing game, but...

I generally don't care for racing or sports games, but I have to admit that Gran Turismo 2 is a great game. The graphics are very good, the myriad ways in which you can soup up your cars is a major plus, and the driving experience is awesome. The only downside is the monotony of the music while you're racing; the soundtrack has one song each from Stone Temple Pilots, Rob Zombie, Garbage(?) and a coupla other artists, and if you play for a long time, hearing the same songs over and over again can get annoying. (NOTE: I played this game on a friend's system, so I don't know if the music can be turned off or not.)
Great, but still a few flaws

Let me start out by saying this is one heck of a game. By FAR the most realistic racing game on any platform. This game is so close to being abosulutely perfect, yet a few major flaws mess that up. I was incredibly disappointed in how easy it was. Not even close to the challenge that the first one was. I mean, I passed every single driving test (A,B,C,I-A,I-B, and the Super License) the first time I tried. Remember the old one where it would take you 50 tries to pass even one portion of a license test? Although frustrating, I actually enjoyed the challenge...here they practically give you the licenses, and then the races are even easier...the only thing that slightly makes up for this is the vastness of this game...this game is huge! Anyways, besides being too easy, everything else is great! And the fact (although the producers of the game obviously didn't purchase the copyrights)that there ARE Porsches in the game makes things even sweeter...Defintely a racers kind of game...and it will take you a long time to finish..so definitely worth buying. Just wish it could have been a little more challenging.

This was a great sequel. The game play was very much the same as the original - but there are new cars, tracks, tuning options, and more competitive racing from the machine. I think that it is a great part II and am looking forward to some better graphics and speed with a GT release for the upcoming Playstation II.
Simply the best.

Well, its finally arrived and what can I say? Its amazing. Heres the good stuff: Other-wordly selection of machines, the best simulated Laguna Seca I've ever driven (PC versions included,) 60's and 70's muscle cars (! ), more tracks, more upgrades, more, more, more... As for the problems: The AI is a little suspect but you know what? I've played all the great computer sims and AI is always a problem. In GT2 I've seen cars drive off the racing line, I've seen them make mistakes, and I've seen them jockey for position. Thats pretty damn good as far as I'm concerned. They are a tad drone-like but they're still better than most games. "There's only six cars." Who cares? I mean LOOK at them! The graphics? Excellent. Some tracks look better than others (Seattle and Laguna are both absolutely great looking) but all look good. Lets not forget this is a four year old system. And those replays will still blow your mind. There is just no denying that this is the best "car game" ever released on any system. And you can get a playstation for about $130 here in Canada. If you like racing, don't miss this one.
