When I Bought the First Gran Turismo, I thought there was no way that any game ever made could possibly be better. Well I was dead wrong. Gran Turismo 2 is SO much better than the original! The biggest improvement is the amount of cars. GT 2 has hundreds upon hundreds of cars, many of them realistic ones alot of us actually drive, such as the VW Beetle and the Dodge Neon. GT 2 also has double the number of racetracks that the original had. GT 2 also has killer music, even better music than the first one (and many people thought the first one had killer music too! ). In conclusion, if you even remotely enjoyed playing the original Gran Turismo, you ABSOLUTLEY must buy Gran Turismo 2. It is the best game ever
GT2 put me in the doghouse...

I've enjoyed PC video games for years, especially racing simulations. However, I got a little tired of upgrading my systems every 3 months or so just to keep up.
In steps the Playstation. For under $100 and with games less expensive than thier PC counterparts, the choice was obvious. Another obvious choice for the first game is Gran Turismo 2 - for me anyway.
I played the game, starting at about 8 PM, until well after 1 AM - putting me in the doghouse with my wife. Apparently I need to buy a second Dual Shock controller and memory card for her, since her biggest complaint is that she only got to watch me play.
The game is addictive, no doubt about it. This is possibly the most fun I've had sitting in one place. The physics are realistic and take some getting used to, but are easy to master if you've driven your car like I have. I especially am thrilled by the fact that I can drive a Taurus SHO in the game - the same car I drive in real life.
If you have a Playstation and are thinking about getting GT2, think no more, just buy it. For all you PC game players thinking of making the switch - GT2 makes it all worth while.
Not just a sequel.....

I have to say it: GT2 is awesome. If you liked GT, you're going to love GT2. I was a GT addict and I had my doubts about 2. After all, lots of games have sequels to them that are basically the same thing with only a few updates (the MLB series from 989 comes to mind). But this is a worthwhile purchase. I especially liked that you can transfer your licenses from GT to GT2. This game rules.....buy it if you liked GT, and if you've never played GT, get GT2 anyway, and become an addict :)

Gran Turismo 2 is an instant classic. There are way more cars then in the first game (I think there's around 600) and the new dirt rally courses are a cool addition. The graphics are improved and the handling is tweaked a bit too. The Simulation mode is simply the most realistic racing ever, and the arcade mode can give you a 'quick fix' if you're not in the mood for the simulation. The overly difficult licsence tests are still there, but you can import memory card data from the original Gran Turismo to get around it. Be warned, however, GT2 isn't for everyone. Fans of games like San Fransisco Rush (or other games where cars can do quadruple backflips) might be a bit dissapointed, and the handling can be frustrating for newcomers. But, if you can get used to the handling, you'll definitely want to buy GT2, even if you've already got the first GT. GO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ONE RIGHT NOW!

Gran Turismo 2 is by far the most addictive game I have ever played.
Be warned you will not want to do anything for days after purchasing GT2, you will be so into the game the outside world will seem but a distant thought, friends, family, and even Fido will wonder where you went off to.
This game is more than a game, it is probably the last great game the Playstation 1 will see until it is forsaken for Playstation 2.
GT2 is worth twice what you would pay for it since you'll be playing it for a long while, this isn't a game you can sit down and finish in an hour, nor is it a game you can walk away from without feeling like doing one more lap.
The original was addictive enough with 400+ cars, however this time Polyphony Digital and Sony have really made it more than special by going absolutely crazy with the sheer amount of cars nearing the 600 mark that can be bought, won, and modified.
This game also has a practical reason, imagine test driving a car before going to the dealership for an actual real life test drive, it's now possible. Imagine seeing your car all modified to the max in a game without spending any real cash.
GT2 has so many pluses that they would take forever to mention, however the first initial batch released did contain some bugs that Sony supposedly is fixing or has fixed for future shipments. With that aside, the bugs are nothing grand and they don't take anything away from the game and it's experience. If you're a racing fan of circuit driving buy GT2, this isn't some Nascar game that makes you drive senselessly in circles.
Though the game still lacks many American cars like Grand Ams, etc., there are enough American powerhouses in the game to suffice like Mustangs, Corvette's and Camaros.
Gotta go, it's racing time again :)

This game is the best racing game ever made for any system. The graphics are fantastic. The ability to cahange so many different aspects of your car is unreal. Also with the addition of the rally races GT2 has gone to a whole new level of racing. You have to save up for the Suziki special edition rally cars...they are $2mil a piece but they haul! Enjoy your gaming!

This game has it all. With more than 500 cars to choose from and modify, and tons of tracks, there isn't much that GT2 leaves out. However, with respect to GT1, this game could have used more work. First of all, I really like the fact that they made more cars available, but with over 500 of them, it's really hard to race them all. It is very nice that the makers have included Rally courses. The AWD cars like the Lancer (EVO) and the Impreza needed their own tracks. This game, unfortunatelly, has gone back to the old USA titles for the cars such as the 3000GT. If anyone remembers, those were called GTO in the first one. Also, many cars that were available in the last one cannot pull the same horsepower in the second one. For instance, I had a 91 Rx-7 Turbo in GT1 with over 500 HP. In GT2, I can only get 375. The cost of modifications are outrageous in GT2 as well. A typical coil-over suspension runs $20,000 in this game, whereas in real life, the cost no more than $2,000. The licenses are much easier to obtain in GT2 and the fact that you can customize your car right down to the rims is a bonus. No one will ever build the same exact car. All in all, this game is great. I just wish the parts weren't as expensive. The game makers have yet to produce real life costs. On a lighter note, the controls are a bit more difficult to use too. With all the added options in this game, it can get confusing on what you are REALLY doing.

The best driving game ever. Many, if not all, of large car companies are represtented (whether it be directly or in Porsche's case, RUF). GT2 has everything the first GT has, but more of it. More cars, more races, more tracks, and a new rally racing mode. If you have ever dreamed of hitting 200 on the final straight away at Laguna Seca (yes the famous track is modeled beautifully)in a Toyota GT-One race spec, then GT2 is the game for you. Even if you're just a casual racing game fan, GT2 is the game for you.
Best Car: Toyota GT-One Street Version with stage 4 turbo, +900 horsepower with topspeed of over 240mph.
The world's greatest game! But...with a few flaws.

This game rocks!I have found myself spending countless hours playing.First off, if you buy this game which I highly recommend get a gameshark if you don't already have one.I entered the cheat codes into my gameshark and it made the game 200 percent better! My favorite code is for 99,999,999 dollars and it is infinite!
Now about the game. The graphics rock, but could be better. The selection of cars is awesome but not flawless. The selection of cars lacks the following brands: Pontiac,Oldsmobile,Porsche,Ferrai, and Lamborgeni.Only 5, not bad huh? Also, the brands which you can select from also lack a little bit of their own products.Example: There is Ford but no Thunderbird.
Although the brands which you can select from offer their best cars, like Chevrolet offering a Corvette, the brands available cars lack certain years which were milestones in the car's history.
Example: Chevrolet offers a 69 Camaro Z28, and some new Camaros like an SS and a new Z28, however they don't offer a Camaro Iroc-Z (which was an available model in the 80's and early 90's Camaros).
But, the game offers more good than bad.It is already my favorite game of any genre (game type). The newly added "Wheel Shop" option is awesome. And the "tune up" option is also awesome but could be better. For instance, it doesn't offer Nitrous which would rule!
One thing about the game that kind of bothers me is the lack of damage you can do to your car.I think there should be an OPTION and I mean OPTION not mantatory feature which you can turn on so when you wreck into something at high speeds it bends up your car and reduces performance. This would mean you could either continue racing the damaged car or buy new parts for it.Also, if you continue racing the damaged car, it should be realistic enough to eventually break down.
But for those of you who don't like the "damage" option, simply turn it off in the option menu.
Also you should be able to rally race any type of car.The game should offer more music tracks. And in closing you should be able to select weather conditions. All in all this game is a God!
It's a GAS

I was never really into racing games. But when my husband got GT, the first one, I liked the graphics, the concept and the way it played. GT2 is MUCH better than the first. I enjoy being able to purchace a larger variety of cars, including some oldies but goodies. The new tracks are much better giving the experienced driver a new challange. A great add on if you have GT and a great game if you have never owned a racing game.
