Frist I think the graphics and the new move are awesome. But whats the deal after you beat the tanker mission you play as a guy that looks like a girl, snake is way cooler. This "Raiden" guy has nothing to do with MGS2 hes just a guy that pops up when u beat the tanker level. I think Konami is stupid to not make you play as snake the whole game. I think that the if the first metal gear had the grapics and moves like this game it would be way better because your snake the whole game and it's longer and harder than this game.

The game is awesome to start with, yet a dissapointment to many. After 10 minutes of the game, you watch a cut scene and the game stops and your not snake anymore. That was a big mistkae. Now your some long haired pretty boy, who is a type of newbie to combat. The game gets boreing since you have to defuse bombs and run around on this small area. The game is a lot like the other one, A ninja, A president that you have to save, and another guy you have to save. But once you get use to the pretty boy, the game gets pretty cool, since you get an automatic weopen, and a grenade launcher, etc... You can play around with the guards, since you get a suit and can dress up like them, knock them out and run away. But I was then dissapoined since I beat the game in less than a day, I got the game then couple hours later I was finished with it, the good thing is the replay value of the game is extremely high. Since you can collect dog tags by holding up guards. But I sure do miss the snake, play the game, I would buy it if I was you unless you dont like a challenge, since there is 5 different modes to play on. The story line is very confusing so you'll have to play it through a couple times to see what they meant by some things.
over all I would buy the game and give it 5 stars.
A great yet confusing game

Let me start off by saying I have never played any of the Metal Gear series before this. That really didn't matter though, as facts from previous Metal Gear games did not need to be known to understand what was going on. The gameplay is simply this, you are given a mission that you must complete using practically any means necessary. Your weapons range from a sword to rocket launchers and guided missles. The story makes sense, but may become confusing near the end as you are not sure what is really happening to your character and what isn't. Although you don't spend much of the game playing as Solid Snake, he helps you complete your mission and gives you advice. The action is exxciting (and sometimes hilariously funny) as you guide your character through the mission. As for the graphics, they aren't cutting edge, but they look good and aren't very blocky (polygonal). The music changes depending on your location and alert status. Half the time you won't even realize there is music or background sounds because you will be too tied up in the action, but the music goes well with the situations it is played. The game isn't overly short, but it isn't excedingly long either. I finish teh game in roughly 10-11 hours. The only fault I found to bring it's rating down was the ending was more cinemas than it was gameplay and the plot was stretched too far. Metal Gear fans and anyone who likes action games should definately get Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty.
Dear God, You Can't Get any better than this!

This Is The Absolute coolest game for the PS2. Not only does this have killer graphics but it also has good game play and a good first person shooter mode. Though if you aren't and experienced gamer, it might take a while for you to catch on and beat it. Also, it has a great variety of weapons, as well as being able to do things that no other game would allow. I'll admit Konami could've made the gameplay slightly diffrent but this will have to do as THE ABSOLUTE BEST GAME FOR PS2...
Incredible game

Finally, the most awaited game of the year is HERE! I somehow managed to make it out to my local videogame store and pick up a copy of mgs2 on the day it came out. I played the demo about 10 hours worth and my first impressions were just plain "WOW". Just from playing this demo I knew the game would be awsome. But was it? Yes yes yes!Even if you have not played the first game (which it does a pretty good job filling you in on) it is a great pick up and play into the action type game. With endless twists and turns in the amazing story, plenty of sneaking with gadjets and tons of new moves this is my pick for game of the year. This is a MUST HAVE GAME. But on another note, my only dissapointment(s) is the lack of new weapons. All the weapons in the game are basically the same from the last with a exception of a few. But dont get my wrong, there are so many secrets you wont even notice. This gets my highest recommendation with a 5, make sure not to miss this folks.
the best game of all time

HOLY S**T. This game is the best game i've ever played. it is so fun. The suspense just kills you. The only thing i dont like about the thing is that Raiden looks like a girl and near the end i had to see his a** but... I would recommend this game to everyone except pacifists.

Blah, blah, blah. That about sums up this game. I spent about thirty minutes STRAIGHT just sitting and watching Metal Gear Solid 2. Thought this was supposed to be a game, not a movie. The gameplay (when you finally DO get to play) is pretty good. But then five minutes later, there is another long winded in-game movie. As I said before: Blah, blah, blah! Now I enjoy a good storyline as much as the next person. In fact I think every game needs one to be worth while. But MGS2 went waaaaaaaaay above and beyond. Based upon the gameplay itself, I would have given a higher review, but it's a vertable snoozefest while waiting for the IGM's to complete. And unfortunately, the first time through, you have to watch them in their entirety to get a clue what you need to do next. Sad to have to sit through a ten minute lecture for ten seconds of information.
