Absolutely awesome role playing game...

While i greatly enjoyed this installment in the Final Fantasy saga, it was just a tad bit different than the past games with its few flaws.

First off, the good stuff. The graphics rock, the music is good, the characters are all very unique and memorable, especially Auron (one of the coolest of all time).
Plus the gameplay is one of the funnest in the Final Fantasy series.
The fact that you can actually 'control' the summoned monsters was awesome beyond belief. Seeing Anima attack for 50k damage on a regular attack is something to see...

However, in my opinion, there are a few things which knocked a star off this games rating.

First off theres Wakka and Kimahri. Kimahri spoke very little almost to a point of being a mute. Add in the fact that his character is a 'jack of all trades' and 'master of none' and you will find yourself using him very rarely. He is pretty much filler gameplay wise and story wise.

Then theres Wakka... oh boy where to start.
His voice acting sounds ridiculous as a Jamaican surfer or something. Not to mention that he is possibly the strongest character in the game and his weapon is a VOLLEYBALL.
I found myself keeping him in the back ranks against everything except flying enemies (which he specializes against).

Now quite possibly the worst part of the game... the sidequests.
The sidequests dont even start until youre about 95% through the game and finally acquire the airship. Than the torture begins.

Just thinking about the final chocobo race, the butterfly catching, and dodging 200 lightning bolts makes me cringe. And catching 10 of every monster in the game for the battle arena? Ouch!
Though it kind of evens out because the items you get through these terribly difficult and frustrating mini games are very powerful.

All in all this game is a truly awesome experience. It took me about 55 hours to beat the game with about 80% of the sidequests finished. And every minute was a joy... except for some of those sidequests.
But to put it simply, if own a PS2 and enjoy role playing games than you cannot be without this game. Its easily one of the classics for both the Playstation and the Final Fantasy series.

Okay, there isn't much else to say about this game than it's like the best game ever made for the Playstation 2. It's totally amazing!!! The graphics are OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD and the storyline is WOW!!! What adds to the game are the KOOLIOUS voices of the characters. I mean, you can actually hear the people talk!!! Well, that's about all I have to say about this SUPER-AWESOME game. Peace out from The Slickest of Them All :-D

When I first heard of this title I could not wait to get my PS-2. The only reason I paid the $200. After I played the game I was really disappointed. I usually play for the storylines. But then I heard about and played X-2. Happy happy happy! Buy them both!

Great graphics/bestiary but would have been so much better without the lame blitzball game that was too much a part of the overall game concept. Too difficult and cumbersome to play and too much reliance on learning one specific play (Jecht kick...almost impossible to learn). Degree of difficulty of several mini games detracted from overall enjoyment. If future FFs continue like this, I'll buy something else.

I really enjoyed playing this game, and I spent over 120 hours alone on it. The graphics are the best I've seen, and the storyline is complex and beautiful. The sphere grid is engaging and much better than simple "leveling up" over and over. This is my favorite RPG so far, and I'm addicted :)

Final Fantasy X was one of the first games I bought for the PS2, and it's the best. The graphics are incredible, and it's as close to real life as a game can get. This is the first game in which I've been allowed to make decisions about how I want to do. And the decisions actually effect the outcome of the game. For instance,my friend has the game, and we both beat it, but we had completely different endings. if You're looking for a great game, look no further. You'll play for hours and hours, and never get tired of it

I really must say wow everytime I turn this game on. The graphics on this game are AMAZING. But its not the graphics alone that make this game so great. The story is so cool, and so innovative, that anyone who enjoys a good RPG will understand the kind of time taken to make this game great. With a new CTB battle system, with effects that will never cease to amaze anyone, with a storyline that will knock anyones socks off, and with a replay value that almost never ends, final fantasy x is the best game around. Any Final Fantasy goer will aboslutely love this game. Summons are amazing to watch everytime.

Also, the game features a really different level up system called the Sphere Grid. This system allows flexibility with character unlike any before it. You would have to see it to know what i meen.
Overall, i played the game for 119 hours, striving to obtain all the quests.
The ending is out of this world, so prepare for it when you are close.
There is a major sidequest called blitzball, which is pretty dynamic. You will either love it or hate it, as it goes. For me, i hated it until i got used to how it works. Just make sure you really sit through the entire toutorial on it...its long so be prepared to read for a while.
Everything in this game will keep you surprised, as the story continues to twist and turn, eventually it almost does a 180, and flips around. But it will never leave you hanging. For all of you who love a good RPG, give this one a good shot, because i promise you will love it.

omfg this game is so awesome first of all i was blown away when i heard the characters talks since this is the first fantasy with this feature and the graphics jumped up alot from ff9 i am happy that i purchased this game but the onlycon i found was the controls and battle system was a bit sketchy but that was it

actually, i think this is very good in terms of rpg games. i guess im very unthorough, i have to admit that this game to me is one of the best in rpgs. i love rpgs, and kingdom hearts is no competition to this.
