This is probably the title that helped many people to decide which console to buy. I got PS2 basically because Final Fantasy X is a PS2-exclusive game, and it doesn't disappoint one bit. Fans of the FF franchise will find this game endlessly addictive, and will probably get it regardless what reviews say, so I am addressing this to those new to the series. Know that Final Fantasy has a typical Japanese-RPG gameplay, with random battles, turn-based fighting system, and a linear storyline. You are not going to have the freedom of Ultima online, and the fighting will become tedious as you will find yourself spending time thinking not about how to defeat the enemy but how to get everyone in the fight to earn experience points. of course, most RPGs are like that. The voice acting isn't great, and the voices don't match the characters' lips, since the original soundtrack was recorded in Japanese, but the voice acting isn't really that bad, either, it's passable for a game. What really make Final Fantasy stand out is its rich storyline, as the plot thickens with every single minute of play while events often foreshadow perils to come. I was hooked to the story right of the bat, right after the opening animation. Oh, and talk about the animation! It's stunning, but most importantly, it works for the story. This is not a game that gives you adrenaline rushes with every battle, and it's not a game in which you just save the world either, it's a very emotional experience as you take your journey alongside Yuna and her guardians. It's a once-in-a-lifetime game, at least until the next Final Fantasy. Anyone who likes a good story will love FFX. Just be warned that loss of sleep will soon to follow, which may or may not cause loss of jobs, lowering of grades, and declining social life.

My favorite part of this game is the leveling up system. You get tons of control. If one of your party members starts out as a warrior you can turn him into a mage as you level up.
The graphics are awesome the gameplay is kinda the same as most RPG's but that's cool. The story line is good nothing amazing. The voice acting is great except for tidus, but you get used to it.
Overall this is a great game but it's not perfect.

I have been playing the Final Fantasy series since FF1. I have played pretty much every RPG released for the Nintendo and Sony systems. I consider myself an expert at RPGs, and it took me 150 hours to complete all of the side-quests in FFX. That should tell you something about how much gameplay there is in this game. It's a must-have for the PS2.

I am absolutely speechless. This game blew me away.
It's gorgeous, it has a moving story, it has stunning graphics and I cared about the characters. How often does that happen? I have never been a fan of the turn-based play before -- this game has competely changed my thinking. Other games seem lazy and simple to me now. This game is the best I have played so far in my years of console based games.
I usually sell my games after I finish them -- I am going to hang onto this one. It's too good to just let go. Hightly recommended.
An epic journey

When you think of Final Fantasy you think of adventure, action, drama, and unparalleled story telling that has made this series what it is today. Final Fantasy X continues that tradition.
This game takes place in the world of Spira. The main character, Tidus, is sucked into a mysterous force called Sin. He emerges on the other side 1000 years later. In this future Spira, people known as summoners fight Sin for the safety of Spira. Tidus meets a summoner named Yuna. He becomes one of her guardian on her pilgrimage along with Wakka, Lulu, Kimhari, Rikku, and Auron. You must face Sin and defeat it!
This game is simply stunning, graphically as well as in the field of gameplay. I highly recommend it to RPG fans as well as people who'd like to get into the RPG scene.
Not a fan of Final Fantasy RPGýs howeverýý.

I've never been a big fan of the Final Fantasy series. However, I pick this one up after playing a demo. This game has breathtaking graphics, but better yet, decent game play. The battle system is character turn based, so time stops with each character's turn. With the use of a sphere grid, you can customize the upgrades of the characters. The character attributes are the usual magic, power, and special abilities. The story is not bad either. You play Tidus, a blitzball player whose world of Zanarkand is turned upside down when the evil Sin arrives. Tidus goes on an adventure to find his way back home and picks up a few new friends along the way. My only complaints about this game are that it is a bit too linear and you don't get the use of the world map until late in the game. Overall, I love this game. I've beaten it twice. I now can say "I played a Final Fantasy game and really loved it!"

Ive played all the final fantasy games and all are freakishly amazing but my fav. is probably 10. The story was great and compared to some of the other games, it was original. The music is its best aspect and the cinematics were just beautiful. And ill openly admit it, i cried at the end. The charecters had there own personalities that you can easily recognize.
If u havent played any of the other games i suggest you start with 10. It will make you fall in love with the series

This was the first game I bought for PS2. The graphics are better than ever. The motion scenes were also excellent. The drama between the characters were great and naturally realistic. Especially between Tidus and Yuna.
The only down side of the game is the music. The only music I liked thoughout the game was when you are in battle fighting the fiends.
I was really looking forward to hearing that same Final Fantasy theme song from all the previous final fantasy games.
Possibly the best game ever made!

I received this game as a gift last year, I played it... And I loved it! It has some of Uematsu's best music and Nomura's best character designs. If you buy this game, you'll have just as much fun as I did.
Good game, but could have been better

I remember the time when Final Fantasy VII came out for the PS1. Oh I was so looking forward to playing that game. The media blitz was on getting us all excited for it. No shortage on hype. Then when I played it, I realized that the hype was more than justified, it was better than my expectations! Perfect 10 as far as I'm concerned.
Alas, none of the Final Fantasy games since then has been able to capture that quality, including FF X. Now maybe my standards were raised too high by VII, I'm sure that's possible, but it doesn't take away the fact that I was disappointed with X.
First of all, I didn't care for the story in this one. Yeah, I get the whole monster is my father angle and the relationship with the summoner, but it just didn't hold my interest very much. I also thought that the whole underwater football thing was silly. Story is so important in FF games. It's what sets this series apart from other RPGs, alas this one is average at best. Now for the good points.
I liked the combat system in this one and I also thought the visuals were top notch. The best graphics for a Final Fantasy game yet.
But even so, it wasn't enough to overcome the subpar story.
Hopefully, FF XII for the PS3 will top them all. We will see.
