This has to be my all time favorite game I've ever played...Its just beautiful...The story is freaken amazing,..It just sucks you right into the game..I felt like I was playing a movie..And the music...The music to this game is so amzing I went out and bought the soundtrack for it...Its just breathtaking..I'm still waiting for them to come out with a FF game that will top this one...I hope they can do it with FFXIII, but I have my doubts..Maybe they will since its the opening FF game on the PS3. anyway, if you've never played this game I recommend it to all who love a great story..The game play is pretty awesome too.. Awesome awesome game. Its the best FF since VII.
Shows us what PS2 can really do. Another milestone for RPGs

Let me tell you, this game is about as large of a revolutionary step as FFVII was. The voice acting, graphics, music, gameplay, and plot are all executed at a superior level. This game really shows what the PS2 can do. It's an awesome game to show off to your friends - there are no pixels in sight, and the graphics are so colorful it's almost euphoric to watch. The voice acting and Facial Motion System (Characters lips sync with the talking, smiling, frowning, blinking) makes it even more immersive than the past Final Fantasies for PSOne. The gameplay is the best the series has seen yet. The new battle system is turn-based which might alarm you, but it actually is more tactical. Instead of hastily pressing the button down so you can do a normal attack on an enemy before they can, you get to plan out your turns. But Square has also made the monsters even more powerful than before; later in the game, you'll get killed if you don't make the right choices.
Enemies do lots more damage and all the main characters have special attacks that are effective for different situations. Instead of having to rely on summons, you have to use your brains. Summons *DO* exist in this game, they're called Aeons this time around, and are a huge aspect of the plot. However they've weakened summons so that you can't depend on them for every battle - they have their own set of HP and they die quite easily. Which is for the best - now you have to rely on your actual party and their multiple skills. There is the Black magic wizard, the White Magic healer for support, the aerial fighter who can take down flying enemies and do status-changing attacks such as Sleep Buster. The sphere grid system allows you customize your characters. It is possible to make Auron (the most powerful fighter) as good of a spell caster as LuLu, but that would take you months. You don't level up - instead, you earn Ability Points, which let you go through the giant sphere grid that lets you learn abilities such as "Strength +3" or "HP+200." The system is very tactical and you must be careful on what routes you choose - backtracking takes a while.
This Final Fantasy has no world map and it might upset some gamers. I think it makes the game more focused on the plot and less on the old-school exploration days where you had to spend 20 minutes on the world map to get to the next town. The plot, by the way, is very good, and definately one of the darkest seen in the series yet. The characters are all memorable and the voice acting is good for the most part. There are some lame scenes but overall it's VERY good and won't annoy you. The music is varied - some metal is mixed in with the soundtrack! Crazy, but it really adds to certain scenes. Also, this is the longest Final Fantasy I've ever played, my final clocking time was 60+ hours, and I didn't even pursue the mini-quests. If you own a PS2 and don't have this, you're missing out on what this system is truly capable of. Get this and Metal Gear Solid 2 and be amazed at the future of gaming.
Mindblowing!!

The story telling is awesome and full of cut scenes. One thing that keeps me playing is to see what is going to happen next in the plot line. This also is your typical final fantasy game in that you can fight enemies and better your characters through experience gained.
!!!WOW!!!

This is simply one of the best games out there. Buy the game and you will agree too. With awsome graphics and an incredible game play it's one everyone should buy. This game does not need any long fancy review because it speaks for itself.

I went over to my cousins house and picked up the ps2. I started playing the ff10 with great expectations at the end of playing i think it scarred my life forever. Crappy storyline, very uggly characters, one way paths in dungeons (very lame), too much talking, very ugly character voices, and etc. THese are the types of tribulations human kinds will face over the years. The world is going to end.

I think the is the best Final Fantasy game since FFVII. But since I've played the Kingdom Hearts series, I've grown tired of turn based RPGs. Final Fantasy needs to move into live action like KH.

It's a great game. I was somewhat disappointed that it was too easy, but overall, still a great game.

If you like RPG then this is a great game to own and play. There are loads of side quests and things to do while playing. Would suggest to anyone playing any of the Final Fantasy games to pick up a strategy guide though so you can figure out how to get everything. It is possible to beat the game without but so much easier with one. Enjoy!
