I have been waiting over a week for Ubi to come up with a patch that will enable me to play the game. I have "Intel" inside my Gateway. The company should have told you this game would not play without a high-end video card before you sold the games so you would have fewer dissatisfied customers.

Purchased Myst Exile in May - installed immediately but when tried to play, it resulted in a "dump". Wrote Ubisoft - now 4 times and unable to obtain ANY support.
The only thing I get is:
Your question has been received. You should expect a response from us as soon as possible (usually within 72 hours).
After 4 months I don't believe the 72 hours any more.
Gave 1 star - but I don't feel I'm able to rate the program at all - it just doesn't work!
I'd love to play it - but it just doesn't run!

I've had Myst III for over a month and have been unable to get it to run properly. My PC exceeds the requirements stated on the box. I have an AMD K6 3D 400 mghz processor, 160 mb ram, ATI XPERT 128 RAGE PRO video card and Sound Blaster LIVE! XGamer 5.1. All of this is far in excess of the requirements, and it still is not playable.
And I am not the only one. There are thousands of messages on forums across the internet complaining of similar problems. Half the reviews here on Amazon.com are negative for the same reasons. Tech support has been decidedly poor. It takes days to get a response saying they are working on the problem, oh and by-the-way you need to upgrade your system some more. Its ridiculous. Whats more, once you open up your software, the sellers won't take it back.

I bought a copy of this game as soon as I could. When I got home I put it in and have loved it ever since! From talking with Catherine, to being stuck in a cage with a bird flying you around a HUGH tree, to being a human marble rolled through a maze of paths, this is the BEST Myst game ever! It has had some problems with some computers but anyone who has had the time to look past that has had the best time playing this game. This is definitely one of those games no one should miss!

I couldn't wait to play my version the day it came. I dropped everything I was doing when I recieved it, 6 hours later I was making my way to the third world already. I am a huge fan of the Myst series games, but personally I thought it was a bit short. The graphics were just fantastic, and the music kept me hooked on playing. The puzzels were easy but some took some real thought and time, once passed the hard ones I felt like I accomplished something. The actors did a great job in their characters, the new villian was just great. Getting used to the all-around look took some time, but once I was got use to it the game went alot easier. Make sure that your system can handle it first, I didn't have a single problem due to my video card, but I have read that others couldn't play because of their system. If you haven't played the Myst series game, start from the first MYST game and then make your way to #3, You will not be dissapointed.
A Visit to the Museum of Science

Myst was fascinating and ground breaking. It contained everything that all other fantasy games, up to that time, lacked in realism. Riven was inspired and totally absorbing. You had to let yourself go and live in the world to figure out the puzzles (which is not a bad proposition.) Exile is like a visit to the Museum of Science. I had a lot of fun. Go into one room and do some very cool stuff, then leave and go into another room and do some cool stuff. Of course, all of the cool stuff is shown in a very simple presentation so that you can quickly understand them. But it is fun.
When playing the game you could tell that the same people did not create the game as created the others. It contains all of the drawbacks that all walk-around-and-figure-it-out games have. There is little freedom of going anywhere at any time. One example is in Myst after you ride the tram, you can ride back and forth as much as you want, because it is a fun ride. In Exile, once you ride in the field ball you can't ride in it again.
The puzzles are much easier in this game. My five year old daughter was able to point out important peices to the puzzle solutions, while my seven year old daughter was actually solving them on her own. With Riven, it took months to finish the game. With Exile it took 2 1/2 weeks.
It is a very fun game with stunning scenery. The technology of 360 degree viewing was breathtaking. The best of any game so far. My daughters had to keep the lights on when playing because it looked too real for them. My hats off to the engineers.
The story line is OK. We are expected to understand the plight of the main character after going through the long process of finding clues everywhere, but I was able to figure it out shortly after starting the game. My youngest daugher figured it out in the middle and came up with a solution - which was almost correct. In the end I was truely glad that we could help him out.
I suggest that any Myst fan play the game. But, they must expect that the length of play and difficulty will be equal to one Riven island. Also, the irratating things that exist in almost all other walk around games exist here. I personally play the Myst games because they are not like the other games. There is a freedom that exists in these games that does not exist in others. Exile has this less so. It is not the scenery that draws me in, but the extent that the developers go through to design an alternative world that is very real in sight, sound, and motion. This game is very close, but PLEASE bring back the original group of good people to design and work on the next version. (Now, where did I place my Riven DVD?)

Why are the Myst games so compelling? Is it just the scenery? I personally play the Myst games because they are unique among all the other games. There is a freedom that exists in these games that does not exist in any others. Exile has this less so. It is not the scenery that draws me in, but the extent that the designers go through to create an alternative world. It is imagination wrapped in sight, sound, and motion that keep me playing. This game is very close but doesn't quite make it. PLEASE bring back the original group of great people to design and work on the next version.

Myst and Riven were truly one-of-a-kind. They had great storylines, great puzzles, and so much emotional impact that they left me awestruck after I finished them. Myst III, however, while it has clever puzzles and a good story, has very little of the surreal emotional qualities that the two previous games carried. Nevertheless, I got to know the characters, and I left the game satisfied. Overall, it is well made and worth playing, hence my four-star rating.

This site currently tells you that you need a 333mhz machine and that you can use Windows2000. The box says that you need a 233mhz machine and Windows 2000 is not shown as a compatible OS. This is sad for me because I purchased the software and it runs extremly slow on my 400mhz machine Windows 2000 machine with graphics board. Also I was not impressed with the water graphics that were suppose to run well with my graphics card.

Myst... One of the best selling games of all time, and one of the most critised game of all time. So-called "real-gamers" shake their heads whenever they hear the word "Myst". What's so special about Myst? What's so mysterious ( no pun intended ) about the game... and why would anyone even want to play it?
The answer is simple: Myst simply puts you into surrealistic worlds and allows you to explore these breath-taking worlds at your own pace. In other words, Myst is an eden to the modern fast-paced lifestyle and apart from its beauty, Myst also had an intriguing storyline and with each step you take, you will uncover part of the mystery.
In this third game, Myst 3: Exile, you find yourself once again helping Atrus ( whom you met in the first two other Myst games )and his family from being harmed by a secretive and scheming villian, whom actor Brad Dourif is playing. You have to explore realistic and beautiful worlds in order to save Atrus' family and the entire D'ni race.
Myst 3: Exile is different from the first two games as now it features 360 degrees panning technology. To move around, simply click at the spot in which you want to go to. Once there, you can pan 360 degrees. Look up to the sun, and it actually glares! Look at the sea and you can see waves splashing to and fro constantly. While one of the characters talk to you ( or animation moves ), you can look up and down while the character is still talking. This new 360 degrees panning technology that allows animation to move while you are looking around is not seen in most games using the same gameplay on the market.
Playing Myst 3: Exile was a joy. Not only are the controls easy to learn, the puzzles this time round is easier too. For those of you who have played Riven: the squel to Myst but have given up because the puzzles were too difficult, give Myst 3: Exile a try. One thing that most Myst gamers enjoyed about the game was its soundtrack. Myst 3: Exile is no different. With its powerful yet emotional soundtrack, in Myst 3: Exile, you will actually feel tense at some points due to the soundtrack. Unlike many games, Myst 3:Exile uses real-life actors to potray the characters and these actors did a pretty darn good job! I remember while playing the game, I actually felt scared as I viewed Brad Dourif's characther through a viewing device. Unlike in the previous games, in Myst 3: Exile, you can actually feel the villian's presense EVERYWHERE. Myst 3: Exile also has a "movie-feel" to it, appealing to movie-fanactics. This game will also appeal to parents and kids as there is no blood and gore in it.
Myst 3; Exile comes in 4 discs, with 5 different worlds to explore. You can also play the game in hardware or software mode, making it acessible to anyone with or without a decent video card. Subtitles are also included as an option in this game, once again making it accessible to people who have trouble hearing. Also, gone are the days of disk swapping as you can choose to "full install" the game.
Overall, Myst 3: Exile is a fantastic game, with its intriguing storyline, breathtaking graphics and its accessiblity to anyone, it would be a shame to miss it. Looking for a new game to play, or just bored with the games such as "The Sims" or the other massive first-person shoot 'em up games that are in the market? Myst 3: Exile is definately the game to buy.
