It is dissapointing to read reviews that give 1 star to a "game" for hard puzzles?!!! wow. Myst is just a puzzle? If you want to solve puzzles dont bye Myst! If you want to kill monsters dont bye Myst.Myst is not a game. Myst is about fantasy worlds that can only be visualy presented with the up to date graphics technology. If you cant be suprised by this technology dont bother.Just kill monsters and solve puzzles. Myst3 is a taste of what games would be like in the future when computers will be able to provide us with an interactive realtime world of Myst.Myst is what humans mind can imagine, create and present as real as this technology can present it. So if you are the kind of people that just want to complain that "myst is not running" probably cause you dont know anything about computers or just like to play action games with guns and never get in the world behind the scenes "The making of all these thing and what is about to follow" then you will never be able to see that myst3 is the first game that gives you animation graphics through video .Animarion graphics that you wouldnt be able and will probably never be to see unless you own a ONYX silicon graphics multiple proccesor station. Myst can be apreciate from the people who understand technology and realy want to use it for creating any kind of art. The rest of you can just play games for ever.

This is by far a more difficult game than the other "Mysts". It doesn't compare to Riven, being my fav of all the others. Nice try on the part of the developers.

Im new to myst but i got to say this is one of the best games i ever played. Though the puzzles are a little difficult
the sight and sound make up for it.
I recommend to anyone in for a good adventure game.

Amazing Game...too easy

This is a truly amazing game. Its graphics are far better than either Myst or Riven. Worth buying just for the beauty of the graphics and the sound. The only drawback was that it was far too easy. Two days of playing and I was done with the game, and there is practically no repeatability.

Its been a long time since I met with Atrus again. I was really excited to get my hands on MYST 3. The only problem is waiting for a patch so I can play the game. If you go to the Myst 3 website, you will see the patches available to you. Either 1.1 or 1.2. I had to download 1.2 and play in software mode. The software mode didnt run slow at all. It was beautiful and smooth. The graphics were outstanding and fun~not only to watch but to actually be a part of. The sounds were crisp and realistic and the Villian..Wow, what a nut case. Because I played Myst and Riven, working my way around the worlds was almost familiar, but not so to where I could solve the puzzles too easily. I was glad to be back. And...so glad I was patient enough to download the patch. It is well worth it and a perfect addition to my top Adventure PC Games. I wish it didnt end. I will miss it...just may play it again. Hope there is a fourth. Anyone know???

Much like original Myst. Animation lacks a bit. Still Great.

My first impression was that Myst III is much like the original Myst in its look and feel. The puzzles are similar. I thought they were easier than Riven (sometimes a bit too easy). The quality of animation was lacking. This was probably intentional to allow the game to run faster on a wider range of machines. Do yourself a favor and do a full install to prevent having to swap out disks ( a real 'fun' killer). Don't buy the collectors edition (expensive and hokie) just on principle if for nothing else.

Sorry it's over already

I felt euphoria after the credits rolled and I knew I had really finished Myst III. But that soon faded and it really seemed like I got through too fast. Compared to any other computer game I've played, this is a great game, but compared to the 2 earlier Myst games, it doesn't quite live up. Like others who've commented here, I found the puzzles to be not so well integrated into the story, and there were surprisingly few surprises. Some of the locations are beautiful and haunting - I could stand to go back and hang out in Edanna for awhile - but I didn't connect with the revenge tragedy enough, and wished the ending could've revealed more. Myst and Riven were more than diversions, they were at the level of literature. Exile is more like a bestseller. Oh well, posthumous sequel-itis. Still, a fun game.

Doesn't hold a candle to realmyst.

This game is fun but it is nowhere near as advanced as RealMyst. I bought this game assuming the same realtime 3D movement of RealMyst was also contained in this game. Wrong! In terms of interaction and game play this is essentially Riven with a circular pan and scan feature. You still move frame by frame and the graphics are nowhere near as realistic and detailed as RealMyst. The weather does not change and the sun does not rise and set either. Not worth the current price wait for it to go down to the price of RealMyst and Riven. Buy Realmyst instead it's far cheaper and far better.

As almost all other reviews have stated, graphically Myst3:Exile is stupendous. The look, feel and sound of the game is breathtaking. That's about where it ends, however. Assuming you can even get it to run (the software is VERY buggy & the stated system requirements are nowhere near accurate. .... it can get to be a bit tedious at times. The puzzles are certainly challenging, but many times are actually rather pointless; i.e.- solving many of them doesn't really advance your understanding or aid you in any way. More often than not, they're more like working the crossword puzzle in the back of those in-flight magazines; it gives you something to do, but won't make the plane go any faster. The biggest complaint, however, is still the massive software defects. There are so many bugs, and the stated system spec's are so completely off-base, you wonder if they simply slapped a price tag on the beta version and shipped it off. To date, I have added memory, installed new video & sound cards, and updated all the drivers, but still get only marginally acceptable performance. This, on a system that had met all the system requirements listed on the box to begin with. In concept I grade Myst3:Exile an 'A', but in execution I give it, at best, a "C-".

I first played Myst in 1994.and i just beat riven

I started off watching my dad and my brother play Myst. Then i actually understood the plot of the game once i played it. Then my dad and I worked as a team to defeat Riven December 31, 2001 New Years Eve. I am really anxious to get my hands on this game, because it just looks sweeeeeet!!
