I wasn't so sure about buying this game, because i was so disappointed by Riven, but i was amazed by the new 360° freelook interface in Exile, the quality of the video and rendering of the worlds is incredible, even the storyline is very exciting.

A must have for every Myst fan out there!

Better than Myst and Riven!!!

This is a great game! The graphics were so much better then I expected. The story is great too.

I had no problems at all with installation, not sure what these other people are talking about.

The only problem I had in the game was the freedom of motion. It made me sick a couple of times so I could only play in maybe 30 minute steps then I'd have to stop for a while. But don't let that deter you from buying this!

I give Myst III five stars as the graphics and 360 are great. I would, however, give Ubi-Soft only 1 star. The game is fun and I will admit that it is easier than Myst and Riven. However, there are so many new twists and visualizations, that it is very enjoyable and fun to play. I have an Intel card on my computer, which I believe the majority of PCs have. Why would UBI Soft release a game that doesn't work on most computers? I kept getting error messages and, after contacting UBI Soft I was given the newly released patch and instructions to get the game going. The game crashed on my computer with a Diamond Stealth Card. Like most Myst players I was very excited about Exile. I think the Myst developers should get rid of UBI Soft for the next game. No one needs all these headaches and most people don't really want to get that intimate with the workings of their computer....they just want to play. Now, I found that playing in Software mode is very limited and I should go out an purchase a 3D Video Card. I will upgrade, but "Jeez Louise," get a grip and make a game that defaults to the cards and drivers that are typically installed in the computer and give a 3D option to those who have purchased faster and higher resolution cards.

Lives up to full expectations

All I have to say is wow. This game really makes you think. But it's easier than RIVEN.

After thoughly enjoying the original Myst and Riven games, I am severly dissappointed by Exile - and I haven't gotten a chance to really play it yet! I tried the typical install on my iMac. The movies ran jerkily and the sound was atrocious! I couldn't run it on the Full Install because it requires a whopping 2.36G. My husband tried running it on his newer iMac and it also had syncing problems between the sound and video. He's a guru at Mac issues so we're tweaking in hopes of getting it to run - but we really shouldn't have to do this. I suspect UBI Soft developed this on PCs instead of Macs like Cyan did and transported it to the Mac platform which often causes such problems. So, if you have a Mac and want to play Exile you might want to hold off a bit! I'll write another review if it actually works because I still want to see those great graphics shown in the trailers!

pretty easy. pretty and easy

over in 4 days on my own, no hints. now to wait another 4 years for the next one. atrus once again is really indebted to me. maybe he will pay back in the next game. the pictures in exile are stunning, but beautiful graphics do not a good game make. the only stumper i found was in the voltaic age in the room with the rivenese numbers. it was hard only because it was late at night; solved it first thing in the am. seriously, though, i enjoyed every minute, but myst and riven are more satisfying games, giving a greater sense of accomplishment. hence, only 4 stars for exile. for a game thats harder, but with less spectacular scenery, try riddle of the sphinx. cheap too.

Great Game

Exile works just fine on my Dell XPS R450 Intel Pentium II with a 16mb STB nVidia TNT video. The game loaded flawlessly and I have enjoyed the game play and graphics. Any true Myst fan will enjoy Exile.

a worthy sequel to the myst-riven saga. the graphics are less crisp-clear than riven's, but this is widely compensated by the possibility to rotate freely at each node. the puzzles, well, yes, are on the easy side, but in my opinion they're far from trivial. maybe exile has a shorter gameplay than riven, but I found riven a wonderful slideshow with annoying, frustrating, unbearable puzzles: exile is much more coherent and, i would like to say, understandable. Great creative work in the design of the ages: as in myst, as in riven, the real pleasure was to slowly explore and wander in the wonderful worlds of the ages (amateria is unbelievable). Excellent, immersive music with a strong ethnic flavour. Two complaints: Brad Dourif is an original, bizarre talent, but here he's surely overacting. Second (and major) complaint: exile, as riven, is a word of rocks, sea, rusty mechanisms, sun. Where are the mellow hues, the "mystery" of myst? Where is the wonderful atmosphere of selenitic age? Presto has done an excellent job. i hope that myst 4 will in some way return to the "original" magic of myst.

Excellent! The best in the series!

We've certainly come a long way since, Myst, haven't we? This is a stunning and most excellent game, the Myst universe keeps getting better and better. And this is not as hard as Riven is, either.
