I love the game: graphics, play, sounds.
I cannot however, play online, as am not connected (long story)
One MAJOR drawback I find in this game and that made me stop playing altogether (after completing the game and half of the expanded version): You CANNOT save the game and start at the same point where you stopped playing. If you do stop playing and choose (it's the only option) the "save and exit" button, it takes you back to town and you have to battle ALL the enemies all over again!! It is soo STUPID! I have never experienced that in any other game. I dont know, what they were thinking!
Unless you either have NO life and all you do is play for weeks until you finish the game, or leave the computer on until you finish the game (I have a laptop and that is NOT an option), you are in trouble.
This is a great

It takes place after the end of the original Diablo. At the end of Diablo, Diablo, the Lord of Terror, was defeated. The hero then takes Diablo's soul stone (a device that is used to bind the soul of any demon or angel) and puts it into his own body, hoping to contain his soul for all eternity.

Since I installed the game I have been wasting much of my life playing it. If you are running OS X you need to get the updater 1.11 to carbonize it so you are not using os 9. I find it challenging as a solo game. I still haven't used it to play over the web.

After experiencing WarCraft II, StarCraft, their add-ons, and Diablo, I'm not at all surprised that Diablo II is a great game. Though I'm scarcely through with 1/4 of it, I could sit here all day and list all the great things about this game: e.g., inventive storyline; cool monsters; great music, sounds, and voice acting; very good (if not great) graphics; incredibly friendly (Blizzardian) interface; utterly addictive playability; need for catheter, NO-DOZE, back rub; etc. Though only one of the three discs is a play disc, this game is huge; if the smaller original Diablo has endless playbility, Diablo II's playability is "endless plus." Since it's pretty violent, I won't let my kids watch me play it. But that's a good thing; otherwise, I might play it too much.
Based on what I've played, there are a very few "cons," if you'd call them that: e.g., I at least initially dislike the Save feature even less than that of the original; I don't like having to kill all the same monsters over and over. There is little if any improvement in the graphics over the original, but that ain't all that bad. Also, in the original I enjoyed littering Tristram from one end to the other with all the stuff I would find in the dungeons. With Diablo II, you have to sell the stuff you find to Gheed, store a measly bit of it in your stash, or else lose it all when you exit the game. But really, this might turn out to be a minor criticism.
So was D2 worth the wait? Yes, I think so. Blizzard knows what it is doing. I just hope that it never becomes a subsidiary to a greed-based parent co. whose philosophy condones churning games out before they're ready. If and when that happens, the Blizzard magic will be lost. Meanwhile, I look forward--likely a LONG WAY forward--to WarCraft III.
AWESOME GAME

This game is the best RPG I have ever played. I, personally, think it should be rated T. There isn't enough blood to make it a M (But that's just my opinion). Anyway, the gameplay is awesome. With hundreds of items and tons of skills and stats to improve your character, this game has a LONG play time. Plus, you can compete against friends or a complete stranger over the internet over their unique gameplay system. All you need is an internet provider and a modem. This game is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone.
Best Action RPG There is!!

I Admit i never played the first Diablo but that was only because i had a low end PC and it couldn't support it, and by the time i did upgrade it, it was two years after and my graphics card couldn't handle the old game. So once Diablo 2 hit the shelves i decided not to miss the chance this time. And am i glad i didn't this game rocks! First off the character choices are pretty diverse, each of the characters has his or her own special ability which means you don't get the same powers in all the characters. My favorite is the necromancer because he can bring back the dead and summon other creatures from the earth. There are about five classes to choose from and each one of them has a set of magic or physical powers which you can upgrade as you gain experiance from killing monsters and collecting items. The graphics, although i never actually played the first diablo, are a major improvement. The lightening and rain effects give the game some major atmosphere, and the music is great as well especially in the first level in the caves it has a sort of white zombie tone to it. Overall i can't think of one bad thing about this game single player wise. Multiplayer, though, is a different story. I tried the server a couple times and at the start of the game i would get booted for no apparent reason not mention all the players usually frag me no questions asked! This got very annoying and to tell you the truth it didn't interest me that much anyway. So i just stuck with the single player. It's still plenty of fun and extremely challenging.
D'Oh, did not live up to hipe IMO.

Ugh, I hate it when something like this happens. I get all worked up the week it is slated to come out, then I get it and am let down. The initial problem was getting it to play, which took Blizzard 2 days to get back to me. Then it was beating the game the 4th day I had it. I promtply un-installed after 3 nights of trying to get on bnet with no success. If you want a good RPG then go straight for Vampire!!!

You know, Blizzard just can NOT make a bad game. I mean, Blizzard could make a game about a crime fighting talking spatula played from a "second-person" perspective and it would still somehow rule.
That said, Diablo 2 is finally out and it is, well, incredible. Everything you knew and loved from the old Diablo is back in spades. Five all new character classes, each with their own unique skills which you yourself can further customize to your liking, thousands of new weapons, the ability to make your own magic weapons with crystals and gems, random maps, random items, slews of new unique monsters, the list goes on and on. Needless to say this game has replay value comin' out of the keister.
The sound is awesome with a good solid mixture of creepy sound effects and subtle, bone crunching fight noises. The voice acting is good, for the most part, though some is a little lacking (the actress who played Kerrigen in Starcraft does a lackluster job of voicing a Rogue, for example.) And the voice acting really shines in the scinematic scenes which are simnply breathtaking.
Also, despite what you may have heard, the graphics are muched improved over the original Diablo (but only if you have a 3D card). Granted, they are still only 640x480, but everything scrolls in true 3d and the lighting effects are dead-on, adding a real depth to the game. Plus the overworld has added weather effects as well as an interesting feature: Gradual transition from night to day. So as you fight in the wilderness the light actually brightens and dims, which not only looks cool but adds an extra element of strategy.
All that said, Diablo 2 is lacking in a couple of points. First the whole repopulation thing after saves somehow makes victories feel less permanent and meaningul, especially since even bosses have the annoying habit of repopping. Also, the fact that whenever you save it results in regen and repop can be quite inconvenient at times. Lastly, your storage space is really tight, forcing you to make some really tough decisions on what items you wish to keep when your really shouldn't have to.
That said, this game still puts everything else to shame, and I mean everything. The Great Pyramids of Giza got nothing on this game. Buy it.
An incredibly addictive game! Awesome!

Probably the best part of this game is the item system. Throughout the game you are constantly upgrading your equipment, and there is a near-infinite variety of items you can get. The gameplay is great - lots of awesome spells, five different classes. The online play is awesome, and freeee! Too bad Battle.net is chock-full of lag, the bane of D2 players everywhere. Still this is the best action/adventure game I have ever played.

I don't know why I bothered to try Diablo II. I didn't particularly like Diablo I so I should have known....
Fortunately, I did not buy the game (only played). Very little rp in rpg. The plot is long, one-dimensional and pre-ordained. I did not finish because I fell asleep, though I heard about what happens when you do. No surprises. If you have absolutely nothing better to do, it will pass your time, but I recommend something with a little more depth. Of course, the artwork was up to the standards you would expect (pretty good, that is, in a morbid sort of way).
