Better than the first

Diablo 2 by Blizzard Entertainment is a great strategy game and can be fun. However the fun starts wearing off after the first set of quests is complete. The game then takes on the role of not being a game but a task. Trust me, using the mouse to point your character get's very tiring and dull. It made put the game aside due to lack of time as well as excitment towards the game. The reason why I gave it a 3 is because it is way better than the first Diablo and can be fun if a person (1) never played the original Diablo and (2) has a few days to sit in front of a computer and play the game. One more insight, the Battlenet feature does increase the fun and excitement, but that will only last until the first hacker kills you and steals everything from you. Diablo 2 just isn't fun, it's a workout which gets very tiring.

Better Than the Original

This game is incredibly addictive. If you are sick of Diablo 1, don't think you will be bored of Diablo 2. The same great gameplay is back, only highly refined and expanded 5 times. You can literally play the entire thing through 15 times and not see everything.

For those of you who haven't played Diablo, it is basically an RPG version of Solitaire - very simple, very repeditive, and very addictive. The perfect game for blowing 30 minutes at lunch, but beware - you might take the rest of the day off!

The backdrop of the game is breathtaking! You will travel through dark caves, desert tombs, monasteries, deserted cities, jungles, ancient Mayan temples with undead priests assaulting you in waves, and even the rivers of Hell. The final showdown with Diablo is 10 times better than the original. The story that ties everything together is, well, not as deep as other RPGs, but still spell-binding. The ending will have you begging for D3.

And once you finish it, you can play it again! This game has the most replay value of any RPG ever. First, it is actually fun to play over and over. Secondly, Diablo 2 has five highly unique character classes which all play differently, and within each class are 30 skills which would take you 300 levels to explore! You'll want to finish the game 2-3 times with each character.

Finally, Battle.Net rocks. You are basically getting a MMORPG for free, without the monthly fee. Get online, meet your friends, form a party, and hop on a game. Incredibly simple. The games gets dynamically tougher as more players join, and you will never feel like there are more players then there are monsters. Forget camping, or taking 3 months to level - Diablo 2 lets you have fun immediately and doesn't slow down. During launch, everyone was trying to use it at the same time, but now things have calmed down significantly.

Repetative and linear

I liked this game. I'm actually a huge Blizzard fan, which means I spend a lot of time waiting, but the games are always worthwhile. HOWEVER, I just didn't see how this game took about 4 years since Diablo I and only improved as much as it did. The graphics are almost the same! My $1200 monitor and Voodoo3 card were waiting to do something spectacular, but went to waste. More importantly the game was linear and repetative. You can't finish quests out of order and there are no side quests to keep you occupied if you want to level up before moving on. I replayed part 3 about 6 times to get to level 29 and it got pretty damned boring. Also, part 4 took me about 3-4 hours-total. I won't spoil the end, but at level 30 I won on the first try without a problem. One more complaint I had was that Blizzard did that Diablo I trick of making you face same monsters over and over again, while making them different colors and more powerful. Lame. Overall this game was disapointing. Although I don't regret buying it, I found myself finishing it just to finish it. I guess I have to wait another 3 years for Starcraft II, so I'm going to go get Icewind Dale now.

I get on the computer as soon as my kids are asleep, and when I go to bed, I still see the scenes behind my eyes. My fingers twitch all day long with the urge to leave work early for just a little more game time... The graphics are Great - a lot of imagination went into making things look interesting. The world is HUGE! and I love the fact that it's split up into four acts. I have caught a glimpse of some of the screen shots from acts II, III & IV and can hardly wait to get there myself... Buy this game - it's worth the money!

I do not own Diablo 2. But my friend does and we were on it the whole day. I really like the way the Barbarian can have double weapons, and the way the Necromancer can raise the dead. It is my favorite game by far, and I'm working on my parents to let me get it. I think it is worth every penny and I hope the next Blizzard games are as good as this one is.

Great game- Even the fifth time through

Diablo 2, is a game like few others. All though it is not a 3d game in a world of 3d, it is a game that ranks along with the greats of gaming: Doom, Half-Life, and Starcraft to name a few. Diablo 2 is essentially a click-attack game, but as you progress you realize their is strategy to the click-attack, and you gain amazing attacks as you progress in level. The game features five distinct classes, with their own style of play and three difficulty levels. The difficulty levels surpass most games, in that instead of just making more or tougher enemies, you also gain access to a new arsenal of amazing items. The story is engaging, and the quests are fun. There were not too many times where I was hoping to finish a quest from boredom. I have now beaten the game 5 times on three different characters, and still work at improving my current one. It is a great game overall, with the biggest cons being that the NPC mercenaries becoming useless in later difficulty levels, the hassels of picking up your corpse after you die, and of course the many hours of your life this game will absorb.

Finally!

Those who have a life should not buy this game. If you've played the original, and you're expecting Diablo II to be anything like the original, are you in for a shock. First, there's the all new characters - the barbarian, paladin, sorceress, necromancer and the amazon (my fav is the paladin). Each character has their own skill levels and they vary significantly from each character. There's also other things, like weapons and armor to find, they've upped the dificulty level, there's more quests, more towns, I could go on and on... Buy this game now!

I bought this game last week. Little did I know, the battle chest came out a day after I bought it. Needless to say, I feel a little cheated on that part.

Diablo 2 is perfect for those gamers who just want to throw down into some hacking and slashing. The battle strategies aren't difficult to master, and the game itself is easy to immerse yourself into. The sheer variety of equipment you can purchase/find will keep you interested in the game. I have found that the best way to play this is on battle.net. You can trade equipment and items with other players there. It adds another interesting aspect to the game itself. Once you play on battle.net, you will not want to play a single player game. You will stay up late playing this game, I promise you.

There are really no gripes that I have about this game, although I wish I had just bought the battle chest instead. It comes with the expansion, a strategy guide, and the original Diablo for just 20 more dollars. So if you are going to buy this game, you might as well front the extra 20 and get it all.

If you liked the original, you'll LOVE the sequel!

If you liked the original Diablo, you'll the sequel no doubt!

For all you people new to the Diablo series, it's an awesome series with an involved storyline like all of Blizzard's games.

I recommend this to anyone!

This Game is the Stuff

Simply put, this game isn't the type of RPG that you will get a heart touching storyline or even a rewarding sense of completion once you beat the game. Once the story is over, the real game begins. The endless battle to the top of the ladder will keep you hooked for months. It will haunt you at work, in class, and durring your bathroom breaks.
This Game has what all these new MMORPGs are lacking, and thats Basic Combat. If I wanted to slice a monsters head off with a sword, there won't be a 3 second attack delay for me. I would swing that S**T harder and faster than Barry Bonds. I could mince a monsters head in 3 seconds. The MMO's these days are slow, boring, and for players who are afraid of getting killed and losing loot. So they start a guild with other little girls because they can only win in numbers.
Diablo 2 is the stuff. When you click, you slice. Its easier than breathing. As far as character creation goes. I don't want to make a bulky warrior woman, or a gay elf that has magical healing powers. The Set character Design is perfect for its individual class. I give this game two thumbs way up. And I will kill myself if they make a Diablo 3 like World of Warcraft.
