BORING!

I am playing the single player version of this game, and am sorely disappointed. You cannot save the game without being brought back to the town. Needless to say, everytime you get killed you have to wade through the game to get back to where you were. Someone at Blizzard should be fired for this being release incomplete.

Diablo 2 surpasses Diablo 1 by far. Its multiplayer game play is fantastic and its sigle player game play is riveting. You'll be glued to your seat. The best game ever made! (Beside Starcraft)

Better than the first, but PKers already in beta

The game looks good and has some nifty enhancements (a skill tree, for example, where you choose the direction in which your character's abilities grow), but it ain't the second coming. And, with PKers already infesting the beta, watch your back when you buy the retail version.

Hmm...

When Diablo II came out I bought it immediately expecting it would be at least as fun as the first possibly more fun.

I got bored of the game easily. The thing I really didn't like was certain enemys that just run away. You have to chase them for what seems like an eternity till you finally catch them and slaughter them, and if you decide to just let them run away they'll continuously come back to haunt you. Then to make things worse the game doesn't save what you've killed so if you decide your done playing for the day the next time you play all the runners will be back. These enemys are called flayers and when I first encountered them I got bored of fighting them over and over and discontinued my gameply and moved to a different game.

Another thing I didn't like is running. Not that running is bad, in fact I love the fact that you can move faster, the problem with it is that the background (trees, grass, etc.) really bothered my eyes with it scrolling past so quickly. That is not as big a deal as the run-a-way enemys, however.

If you like to chase endless hords of enemys then the game is for you. If not don't bother with it.

Good for a few months

Diablo 2 is a game where you choose a class and run around exploring dungeons gaining experience and collecting items. This concept goes way back to the old days of Rogue and Dungeon Hack and perhaps even Adventure! so the idea is nothing new. Regardless, it is a fun game. The classes are different enough to make one interesting and there are tons of items to equip your character with. However, what keeps it from getting the 5 stars?
First of all, the classes are inbalanced as only a few of them actually are able to complete the game on the hardest setting (Hell, Players 8) where as other classes do not even have a chance. If you want to make a character that is different from the run-of-the-mill fantasy stereotype it will be hard to make a good one past nightmare. Also, the spells need more variety as alot of them are just hopped up versions of the ones you get earlier in the game and some skills are just worthless. Add that to the slow and unreliable servers Battlenet has up and running, and your online experiences will be varied on the scale of entertainment.

It is a good game for a while and offers plenty of replay value but it only takes so long till you are bogged down by the imbalances and repetiveness. I would definitely recommend buying the expansion in addition to it as it would greatly heighten your gaming experience.

not as good as ONE

Diablo 2 really made me mad. Number 1 you can't save anywhere along the line. When you die you go back. This may mean up to 10 or 15 minutes to get back to your site. Number 2. The game cheats. When you die it will take any gold that you have on your person and then it takes everything thing else as well. I'll stay with number one. (which is a great game)

Some old thing...

I wrote this becuase the previous post's have hyped up this game way too much. It is not all that great. It's just diablo with a slight face lift and a ton of more items. If you loved diablo then you will consider this a nice update. If you where hoping for a more compelling theme or a different type of direction in which the game flows then you may not be too happy.

This is A MUST BUY!

You will not be able to stop playing this game. I swear! I still go back and run through it, just to try out a new character, or to try another tactic somewhere, or test out the skills in new ways. The only thing that took some getting used to was the saving system, since it puts you back in town.

Better than I thought it would be!

I read some of the reviews and most people said this game was okay, but not as good as the original. Boy, were they wrong. This game far surpasses the original Diablo to me. The levels are designed better and the quests are more interesting to follow. The cinematic movies are to die for. The graphics are improved a little from the original(For instance you can see the items you are wearing). The only complaint is that there are a few bugs in the game such as graphic slow downs, and I had to go to bizzard.com to download a patch just to get the game to run on my computer. Other than these few gripes, I am addicted to this game. Until I got Diablo II I had no idea how fun RPGs are. Thanks Blizzard for another great game.
