Well this game sure was a dissapointment. I bought it thinking it would be like Smash Bros. in that one battled the pokemon like a real fight. But no, you have to abide to the traditional pokemon rules, and wait patiently while ur being attacked, then retaliate respectively. I found this game a true waste of money. 60$ (at the time) and the only thing different was improved graphics. I'll give it to Nintendo that when one trades through pokemon stadium it looks pretty sweet, but really its no different than the gameboy game. In my opinion, even with the price marked down, its an awful lot of money for mere graphic improvement.

kind of fun but not the best 12/3/00

This game is not all it cracked up to be. It is pretty hard in single player. the main reason i still play it is for the fun small games when you and your friends have a ball using abilities like metipods harden to avoid being crushed. Or sandshrew's digging to reach the water. Over all this game is O.K.

Polygons, I choose you!

Pokémon Stadium is the first Ninendo 64 game to allow players to finally see all their favorite Pokémon in full-fledged 3-D. Of course, that's no reason to buy this package. Pokémon fans will catch onto the fighting system in no time, but don't we realize that the battles are ho-hum time consumers? This game offers nothing come adventure time. Yes, it allows you to play your Game Boy game on the big screen, but that doesn't change a whole lot. The mini games are really fun, but they're also really short and, like Mario Party, wear out within time. If you own Pokémon for Game Boy, you'll want to rent Stadium a few times so you can see your hard-earned monsters in polygons. Yet Stadium really doesn't offer much over its handheld component. A waste of money... except it comes with a Transfer Pak.

Ummmm......

I am a true Pokèmon fan. All the commercials u see act like its the best Pokèmon game ever. Well its not. I thought you would actully see the Pokèmon fighting each other. But instead you see them just standing there exchanging punches and kicks in mid-air, and 3/4 of the time its a miss. I think they spent too much time on the 3-d picture, then making the game fun. I do have to admit, the Pokèmon games are good on that game espessialy the Rattata one. The game also gets borng VERY quickly.I mean I like the game, but i didn't like as much as commercials said u would.

Maybe it's more fun with Gameboy

Having played in 1-player mode against the CP, I was expecting a great 2-player game. We don't have Gameboy so we don't have transfer paks. I was surprised we were locked out of every battle mode that allows you to choose Pokemon to battle with. In 2-player mode (no Gameboy) the computer picks your lineup for you.

Caveat emptor: they want you to buy more gear.

Otherwise this is a good game.

Pokemon Stadium is fun and nice to play. If you have a pokemon game boy game like red, blue, or yellow it is much more fun. With friends this game is also good.

Overrated.

On the positive side, the animation in this game is superb. The graphics are very smooth, the Pokemon look just like you'd expect them to, the area environments are great and the optional commentary adds atmosphere.

On the negative side : nothing happens! Basically, you select a number of Pokemon to use in battle. You can play another person or in a tournament against the computer. You select which Pokemon to use in a fight, which move it will make and then the computer takes over. You see the Pokemon do it's move. You find out whether you hit or missed and how much damage, you did.

There is no contact between the Pokemon. If, for example, your Pokemon launches a lightning attack, you see the lightning surround your Pokemon. In the next scene, you see you opponents Pokemon surrounded by lightning and they act a little suprised, but that is the extent of the action. You don't control your Pokemon in any way other than to select an attack move. The computer does the rest.

Personally, I think Pokemon Snap is better value for money. At least you have to think (i.e. find Pokemon to take pictures of) and take pictures. Pokemon Stadium is far too expensive and overrated for what it offers : a "must have" that will very soon never be used again.

This game has fun mini multi-player games!

In my opinion the mini multi-player games are all this game has going for it. The mini games are GREAT! I give them 5 stars (I give the rest of the game 1 star) When I have friends over who don't like N64, or aren't good at playing it, I put in Pokemon Stadium! Everyone seems to love the mini games! They are easy to understand, and they are really fun to play! My favorite mini games are the Lickatong Sushi game where you run your Lickatong around trying to eat as may sushi's as it can is a minute. I also like the Run Rattata Run game where your race Rattata's. There are about 9 mini games in all, and the all the games are up to 4 players.
