People have missed the boat so badly on this title that it's almost criminal. Mario Cart was one of the earliest games released for this system, and although it received reasonably favorable reviews it suffered due to its predictability in the single player mode, and that's the key. Where Mario Cart excelled, and still continues to, is in the multiplayer modes, most notably the two player mode. Far too many people parked their lonesome selves in front of this game and were quickly bored by competing against the a.i. when they should have invited a friend or relative and raced against a fellow player. The unpredictable nature of racing against a human driver is the x element that makes this game shine. Who but a fellow player would figure out how to place fake diamonds within the clusters of real ones for a devastating booby trap, or the sheer thrill of nailing another driver at long distance with a green shell (something that takes considerable skill)or the absolute bliss of activating the "invulnerable star" and smashing your opponant flat as a pancake? Even casual gamers such as my wife and myself return to this game again and again, even though we are intimately familair with every track simply because each race is different when taking on a fellow human player. If your looking for a game the whole family can enjoy, up to 4 players at a time I might add, don't pass up this incredibly fun racer. This is the ultimate party game!
This game's great but it can get boring after awhile.

We got the gold medal 7 times in a row. There are 4 sets of levels that are pretty easy to beat. The graphics are very good. We think Super Mario 64 is alot better because there are more levels and it is more chalenging and exciting.

Mario Kart64 is one of the more entertaining video games of all times. It is suitable for all ages and can be enjoyed and mastered by the young and old. 4-player simultaneous play with a selection of 8 classic Mario characters and 4 different difficulties (beat all curcuits in 3rd or better to earn Extra Mode) and 16 levels of play, each level containing it's own unique obstacles and course.

The reason I only give this game three because all you're doing is racing.
I really liked the graphics, the music was good, I like the battle modes that I play with my sister.
But there are no activities to do in the game but racing.
It is only fun when you're playing with friends.
But if you're playing by yourself it is nothing.
Overall this game was fun and had it for 3 years and still like it.
But if you want a good racing game get Diddy Kong racing.

I have this game on SNES and N64 and heard they might be coming out with one for Gamecube. This game pulls you into the world of Mario and it keeps you there until you have finished the races. It used to be the basis of my older brother's and my Saturday mornings.
Gameplay- There is not one problem with this game's play control. I learned it in 5 minutes and that wasback when I had to get used to the N64 joystick and the rest of the controller.
Graphics- They aren't everything compared to the technology of the Gmaecube, but for the N64, they are great graphics.
Music- Not that bad for one of the N64's first games. It has music that even I catch downloading off the internet sometimes! They don't give you that electronic music. It is actual music!

Mario Kart is a good game with decent graphics but it's nothing new. The idea is simple: pick your favorite Mario character and race them over courses on go-karts. One of the fun parts is the weapons you get to hinder the other racers. The real fun in this game though lies in the multiplayer. After a few weeks you will have compleated most courses in single-player mode and it becomes boring really fast after that. The multi-player races and battles make this game worth it. If you want a fun game everyone can play this is it but don't expect too much after that.
This game has re-defined by relationship with my brother

Where to begin? Simply put this is a great game! Since I am well into my 20's I am almost embarrassed to admitt this but I borrowed this game from my 12 yr old cousin over a month ago and have yet to return it. I normaly don't take games from little kids, but this game is so much fun I find myself unable to return it. What is even more peculiar is that my brother and his girlfriend have both caught this bizarre virus. This game has truly brought the three of us together in a way that nothing else ever could. We all have our favorite boards and characters. But what really makes this game so much fun can be summed up in the phrase "multiple player participation". All three of us are able to share in the excitement of this game at once. I hope that this testament to this game will be sufficient to get anyone to purchase this game because it is truly a great experience!

Icould have alot to say about Mario Kart 64. First off, the graphics are #1 compared to lots of the Nintendo 64 racing games. The only problem with them is that the levels may sometimes blend in with the characters or karts. If I could show you better graphics it would be on a Playstation. Second off, the weapons are many, except they can sometimes be dissapointing. Yet there are also many weapons that can put you ahead in the game. The thrill of the game is that the love of winning is exhiliarating. Third, the options that you have to play show you how the controls operate. In this game you can also choose your motor speed. My say is buy this game if you want value and fun.
best racing game ever!!

This game rocks. I think the graffics are great. There are 8 characters and 16 different races. In this game you don't just race. You can hit the other players with turtle shells, bombs, or leave banana peels behind so the other players slip. ( Just make sure you don't. ) When you hit someone, they bounce around and lose time. There is also a battle field. In a battle field you try to hit someone. If you hit someone three times, they lose. There are 4 battle fields. You can battle or race with up to 3 other people.
