Great game but do a little research

I picked up this game the day it came out and started playing it immediately. I found the story interesting and the game play was great. There are multiple ways and different strategies to proceed through the game so the game has the ability to conform to your own preferred style of playing.

Be advised, however, the system requirements are steep and the graphics are less than stellar. I tried running it through Direct3D with all of the options on with my Athlon 650/GeForce system and found the frame rates to be frustratingly slow.

I dug up an old VooDoo2 card out of the closet and put it in my system and tried running it through Glide. Much to my surprise, it ran great but the best I could get on that board was 600X800 dpi and 16-bit color. If you have a slower system and do not have the ability to run this game through Glide (3Dfx rendering API), you may want to wait and see if the patch fixes the D3D issues.

Assuming you have the right equipment, the game is a lot of fun and a contender for "Game of the Year."

This is one of THE BESTgames I have ever played!

This game has everything. It is unlike any first person shooter game that has ever been created. in this game you can train in what you want to do. You can train in sniping and shoot people from far away, you can train in rifling and shoot crowds of people with assault rifles or fully automatic shotguns, you can blow stuff up with demolitions training, you can get training in hacking and take down security systems and break into ATM machines, you can learn electronics and break doorcodes or turn off autoguns. In this game, anything is possible, you do what you want to do, you beat the missions the way you want to do it. And another thing I like about this game is the augmentations you can get. You can get things that enhance your sight, accuracy, strength, stealth, and you can even cloak yourself. So please dont hesitate to get this game. You will definetly not regret it.

as noted above this is a great game for anyone interested in more than mindless shoot em up. one of the few problems was poor performance on non voodoo systems...

I just bought this game and I can't stop playing it. It has the best story of a computer game that I had ever seen and there are just so many options you can't do them all. This game is a huge player for game of the year.

Well Well. Warren Spector is at it again. IN case you don't know Warren was the guy that brought us the Original System Shock as weel as the Ultima Underworld Series. This time around he brings us _Deus Ex_ . Set in the Future reminicent of so many futures that get portrayed, ie dark depressing and overrun by terrorists/freedom fighters, you play the role of J.C. Denton, a Kid fresh out of the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Co-OPerative, or UNATCO for short. You are the second in a new breed of agents. Your system is advanced via nano-augmentation. This allows for you to, with the correct augmentations, turn invisible, or be able to run super fast. You also have a collection of skills you can master, from weapons to hacking, to medical. All told there are 11 skills, and a bunch of places for augmentations to be added to your system as well. Your job is to try some _Mission Impossible_ type jobs, and there are always many ways to accomplish them. You can take the _Quake_ style approach, ie a full frontal assault, you can take the _Thief_ style approach, ie. sneak in, or sometimes you can even talk you way past.

All in all a great game.

A superb gaming experiance!

Warren Spector's newest game is another masterpiece, equal in quality with his clasics System Shock and Ultima Underworld. This game mixes the best of Gibson's Nueromancer novels with, what I consider to be, real world consperacies such as secret societies and alien abduction. I consider Deus Ex to be an overall better product than most of its overhyped contemporaries, namely the second incarnation of the horned one known as Diablo. Dues Ex is certanly more original in theme than most rpgs available today, not that I have anything against the traditional fantasy genre. The game's interface is very intuitive and user-friendly and is rendered in a highly-modified version of the incredible Unreal engine. I realy have to comend the Ion Storm team for creating a game so interactive, non-linear, and downright addictive. I would recomend this game to anyone, especialy hardcore aficiandos of RPGs.

It rivals half-life for best single player experience

I was genuinely sad when I beat this game. I didn't want it to end: that's how good it is. It has an amazing plot, characters, the graphics can be troublesome if you don't have glide, but are still great, and wonderful sound also. Any fan of action/rpg games should defenitely buy this game.

Cool!

When I bought this game I was not sure exactly what to expect.
Wow, I still cannot stop playing this game. Why? Well for one
thing, you can do just about anything that you want to.
Second it seems vary realistic for a future type game. Third
this game is fun fun fun! It is not just a 3D shooter or a
problem solver only. Yes there are puzzles to figure out but
common sense will work ok. Like I said, this is the best game I
have ever played and I play a lot of them. Buy It!

One of the Best RPG's ever
