A true must have title for the playstation 3.

One of the biggest games around has come to the playstation 3 and about time it did and its called Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion .

First off what sets this version differently from the xbox 360 is that it comes with the bonus content like that was released for the pc then later came out on a xbox magazine cd so you could install.

The graphics will honestly blow you away , and bring the player more into the game . The detail you will see is just so freaking cool . The graphics seen in the playstation 3 version really do stand out . They also look decent on most regular tv's and of course if your hooked up to a hdtv it will look alot better.

The audio for everything in this game is really well done . I have my ps3 hooked up to a sony theater system and sounds really well and brings the game more to life . I have also tested on a normal setup no theater and sounds really well for tv speakers .

The controls might take a little time to learn for most player's but some might be able to pickup a little faster .

The fun factor can come in many different way's but will touch base on two of the biggest that most might like is that being able to design your own toon , and the replay value .

Being able to design your own toon is a good key feature to any game ! The reason is the player gets to see his or hers creation level up and become alot more powerful in whatever class path they select.

The replay value to this game is endless and falls back to alot in being able to design your own toon. The game will be alot different if you did it once as a fighter type then later as a caster type . Just seeing you hack and slash to a monster , might be better for some players . Also being a caster blasting a creature with magic , might be funner for a different bunch of players .

So honestly Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the playstation 3 falls under one of the must have titles list. This game packs it all into a blue ray disk , great graphics, audio, extremly good replay value as well a great gaming time for the player . Also already having the bonus content already in the game , just really adds more insane fun for the player to check out.

The bonus content i talk about is the Knights of the Nine expansion . It was released for the pc version , then also came out for the xbox 360 with that one you had to get it via download or off a cd.

One last thought the playstation 3 might have started out with a minor selection of games . The list is starting to grow now with alot more better games comming out. If you was looking for a reason to get a playstation 3 , look at some of the titles comming out and oblivion is verry good choice for showing off the power of the playstation 3.

Have a great playing time with a great title for the playstation 3 called Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion !

Impressive

I played this game for the first time last night and let me tell you it was impressive. First thing I noticed was that the environment in which you run around in is fully interactive. There are chains hanging from the ceiling that moved when I touched then. After defeating a rat I was able to hit the corpse and the corpse actually reacts to the location that it was hit on. Lockpicking is definately not just a role of the dice. You are given a side view of the lock and tumblers and use a tool to set the pins.

I am looking forward to seeing what else this game will surprise me with.

WAY better than the 360 version.

Looks better than the 360 version or PC version (don't believe me, look it up).

Includes the expansion.

Nuff said.

Best reason to own a PS3

I've been very patient with the PS3, waiting for solid games to come out since launch, and this is the first good reason to own one(besides Resistance). Graphics are gorgeous, sound top notch, and frame rate impeccably smooth. I've never played the 360 version, but heard there were less detailed graphics, glitches and slightly longer load times. Been playing the PS3 version some hours, and have experienced none of these issues. This game also comes with the expansion, Knights of the nine, which retails for $20 and adds more content to an already deep game. All in all, great game + expansion + better graphics than 360 = a must have game for the PS3

Well, I have owned Oblivion since it came out for the Xbox 360. For any RPG fan, this game cannot be beat. The depth of game play, the level of detail, and of course the fun factor. The proof is in the pricing. It has been one year and most still sell Oblivion for the 360 at close to the same price as when it was released. Very few games can accomplish that.

I am a long-time Microsoft fan. I find most PS3 games ok, but nothing spectacular nor any better than any comparable game on the 360. Graphically though for Oblivion on the PS3, I must honestly admit it looks a lot more crisp, clearer, and brighter. I am still using the same TV and using component cables for both systems. On the 360 with my TV, I found myself needing to increase the brightness all the time just to see certain areas well enough even with a torch lit. It is perfect on the PS3 without any adjustments.

Load times are faster overall. You still wait here and there, but not nearly as long as on the 360. It is missing many of the downloads you could get on the 360 for a small fee. A couple of those I really miss. I still think the Xbox 360 controllers are much better to use than the Sony ones, so that is one flaw I do not like dealing with.

So yes, same game on a different system and I bought it again. This game has entertained me for hundreds of hours and hopefully even hundreds more. If you have not played it, there are many characters to choose from and during the game, you can of course choose a heroic path to an insanely evil path. You just have to be good enough not to get caught when being evil.

Now maybe if they did it on the Wii with that remote, that would be interesting.

Why is everyone bent on PS3 vs 360?

I don't own a 360 and I could care less how Oblivion performs on it or a cpu, those posts are irrelevant imo unless you are still up in the air about what console or type of cpu to purchase. After all you are in the PS3 section of the website.

The PS3 offers excellent graphics in HD-top notch, and the frame rates are great, I've experienced zero stuttering. The sound effects and music are superb, especially in surround sound.

The game offers plenty of flexibility when creating a character. Anything that comes to your mind you have a great chance of getting close to what type of toon you can build. For example, I've played a few MMORPGs and I've always seemed to enjoy the petters (summoners/conjuror) I already have the building blocks in place to create just that. So far I'm able to summon a skeleton or an imp to help me in battle and back them up with some offensive spells (fire, ice, shock etc..) I can heal as well. There are literally thousands of combinations at hand to create the looks and play style that suits what you are looking for in a character. You get 7 major skills, which define what class you are and you also get 14 minor skills. There is a nice sized list of skills to choose from...think of all the possible combinations (next up will be a crafty, murderer of a rogue)

Creating potions, poisons, spells and enchanting items/weapons adds another dimension to the game if you're into crafting. There are also houses for sale along with horses to help you get around more efficiently.

Battle is more smooth than morrowind 3 imo. You don't swing your sword 20 times in a row without striking your enemy once. Several of the little annoyances in morrowind 3 have been greatly improved in Oblivion.

The quests are numerous and enjoyable, frankly there seems too much to do but believe me I will get around to doing as much as I can. Quests range from the typical take X item to person A to killing enemies or simply running miscellaneous errands for the guild(s) you belong too. You are able to gain in rank in any of the guilds to open up additional benefits available to you, like enchanting when you reach a certain rank in the mage's guild.

Bottom line, whatever you enjoy in an RPG I'll wager Oblivion will satisfy what you're looking for. I've been playing games since the days of Adventure for the Atari 2600, I currently play WoW (on the back burner for now to make room for Oblivion) and I've also played EverQuest. Oblivion is a top of the line RPG and a must have for the PS3.

Greatest game for ps3 yet

I got the game the day it came out and i played it forever. The graphics will blow you away and the different combinations you can customize your character is amazing. You can be a theif, mage, warrior and many more. The ps3 version includes the new Knights of the Nine which add 10 hours to the already 200 hour game. On the ps3 the load time are noticbly shorter than the X-box 360. The ways you can interact with other A.I. characters are mind blowing and each character has its own voice acting. My favorite thing to do is to pickpocket someone and steal their key and go into their home. I recomend this game to anyone that has a ps3 and should go buy it.

Not entirely convinced...

I'm not entirely convinced that the PS3 version of Oblivion is "that" much better than the 360 version. Having been playing the 360 version of Oblivion for six months, I have come to be quite aware of the game's "hiccups," whether it's a "Loading Area" pause while running around the game's massive world or a loading time that just seems a bit too long. However, I have also learned to hold down the A button when Oblivion loads to clear its cache, which virtually eliminates the above "problems."

I was able to see Oblivion for PS3 a week ago and, graphically, I was quite impressed. However, three days later on that Friday, Xbox Live came out with a patch. Since they don't specify what these patches actually do, I went online to find out. Turns out that, in the course of developing Oblivion for PS3, Bethesda Softworks came up with a new lighting and shading technique that vastly improves the quality of the visuals. Well, once they figured out how to do it on PS3, they figured out how to do it on the 360 and PC as well. With the patch installed, I noticed a tremendous upgrade in the visuals, particularly with any area overly bright (snowy mountains) or overly dark (dungeons, of course). Are the PS3 visuals still better? Yes, but again, not by "that" much.

The main area I have trouble with in the PS3 version is the lack of downloadable content. PS3 and Sony fanboys can talk all day about graphics, but what about the system's memory? Bethesda Softworks said that having all the downloadable content installed caused the game's performance to take a nosedive. Funny, because when I installed the expansion packs on my 360, I didn't notice any change in performance whatsoever. People can talk about how huge Oblivion is without expansion packs, which it is, but I would say Mehrune's Razor and Shivering Isles are some of the best parts of Oblivion period, including all of the main quest, faction quests, daedric quests, and miscellaneous quests.

The long and the short of it is, if you own a PS3 but not a 360 or Oblivion-capable PC, I'd go for Oblivion. In a heartbeat. I absolutely love the game and have been swept up in it for six months, totalling over 200 hours so far. But if you already own Oblivion for 360 or PC, I'd say wait. Maybe the downloadable content issue will be fixed in due time (just as the lighting and shading was fixed for the 360 and PC versions). For me, sacrificing 80-100 hours worth of downloadable content just for a slight bump in graphics and faster load times isn't worth it. Now, if the downloadable content issue is fixed, I could easily see myself buying this version. But not yet. For the downloadable content issue alone I have this four stars, although I feel a complete version easily merits five.

Best PS3 Game Yet

If you have a PS3 and haven't bought it yet then you need to hurry up and buy it. This is what the PS3 is all about. Forget any preconcieved notions you have about RPG games, this is unique. I've only played for a few hours and I'm hooked. This game has a very real story line but yet your not forced to follow it except at your choosing. There are other characters in here and they are a part of your gaming experience and not just idle characters waiting for you to ask them a question. They make you feel in part like you are part of a movie. My favorite part so far has been the outside world. To see a butterfly come out of a bush, to watch the light change as the sun sets, to wake up early in the morning and spot a deer on the top of the hill and watch that deer bolt upon hearing you move...these things and so much more make this game special. This game will amaze you if you are just willing to take time to take it all in. If your just looking for a quick kill and destroy game then this isn't it. Yes, there is plenty of the standard fighting and searching for stuff but this is a world with so much more to offer.

Oblivion is one of those games that sucks you in and you can't ever stop playing it. It is sooo much fun and there is almost too many things to do in the game. I have never played any of the other versions, but comparing pictures, the PS3 graphics are better than the ones on the XBOX 360 and PC. I really love RPG's and this game gives you the freedom to do almost anything you want. Take on a quest, break into someone's house, pick locks, pick pockets, help the villagers, kill the villagers, explore ruins, explore dungeons, go for a swim, buy a house, steal a horse, steal household items, spend hours creating any character you want, choose any sign to go under, join a guild, or do anything else that you like. This is game that you can play over and over again. I absolutely love the whole game. The combat is very fun too. But, if you are a person that is impatient, you most likely will not like this game. It is a little slow paced but I still love it. It also includes one of the expansion packs, and the PS3 verision is most likely going to be able to purchase more expansions. Overall, Oblivion is a must play for everybody who wants a great RPG that has limitless possibilities.
