Outatanding game!

Finally! A game that justifes the purchase of a PS3.
My son and I have been playing this game for two months. The depth and layers to this game are outstanding. Joining guilds and completing smaller quests add to your experience and allow you to level up, which gains you better weapons and spells. Of course your advisaries also level up and you meet some very powerful and creepy creatures but this only adds to the game play.
My son is ten and this is the only "M" rated game he is permitted to play. There is very little objectionable language in it. Yes, there is a fair amount of hack and slash but nothing too graphic.
You need to purchase the guide to get the most out of this game, which my son has commited to memory. A plus considering the amount of reading involved.
Overall, this is the best RPG I have played. Highly recommended.

Oblivion - best RPG gets better on PS3

Yes, Oblivion is a game that has been "out" for over a year on other platforms, but the wait truly was worth it for Playstatin 3 owners. The PS3 version of Oblivion is the best version of the "core" game. Not only does it have the best graphics and load times, it also contains the expansion pack "Knights of the Nine" for FREE! This adds nearly twenty hours of gameplay onto the already long lasting core game.
The Playstation 3 comes with a HDD standard in every one, it's the only next-gen console to have that feature and it really benefits with Oblivion. The game installs 4GBs of data onto your HDD in the background while you play, so don't worry about having to wait while it "installs", you will never know it is doing this! But the benefits are great, load times are greatly reduced and the frame rate is improved over the other versions of the game out there. Another plus is that the developers have stated the second expansion pack for Oblivion will be coming for the PS3 later this year!

One of the greatest RPG

Stunning world, innovative gamsplay with element of action-adventure and role-playing at the same time. Graphics should have been nicer with more anti-alias. Should realy be native 1080P not 720P. Detailed world and multiple challenging objectives make this game even better.

From a 'rental' to 'really really wanna buy'

I rented this game from Blockbuster since I rented whatever else I wanted to rent from them (Ninja Gaiden Sigma and FEAR [FEAR for the PS3 is terrible by the way]).

The beginning was slow and a bit boring since there is plenty of dialogue and you have to pick your race, birthsign, and class [which there are many combinations of]. But, once you get out into the open world...the fun begins.

The world is expansive and looks beautiful. The quests are varied and NPC's are fun and the AI is interesting. The game is completely non-linear. IF you wanna save the world from Doom you can, or you can just run around and do whatever you want. Stealing stuff and selling it off is especially fun. I even restarted the game to remake a character better suited to sneak and steal.

There are many options in this game regarding gameplay. You can join one of four factions or guilds: The Fighter's and Mage's Guild are self explanatory (fight or use spells). The thieves guild has you steal stuff (ummm, duh). The Dark Brotherhood has you assassinate people (Fun). You can join all the factions at once if so desired....but I am not far enough into the game to know whether or not quests will conflict and make you choose between factions (i.e. Kill this guy to stay in the Fighters guild, but then you get removed from the thieves guild).

If you want a game that tell you what to do, then Oblivion isn't for you. If you actually want a game where you explore everything, then Oblivion is for you. This is finally a game that can Rival World of Warcraft in expansiveness, variability, and replayability.

Great Game, but bugs abound

I agree with most of the other reviews on this game as it is awesome. There is always something to explore, new places to go, so many characters and player personas.

But, the bug that existed in the PC and 360 versions do exist in this version too. The only problem with that, is there is no patch for the PS3. I cannot cure my Vampirism nor get into the Magic University due to these bugs and when I did get through to Customer Service, the person I spoke with was at a loss. I inquired about a patch but the poor guy didn't have any idea what I was talking about and just said he was sorry for the problems I was experiencing. I am sure there is a patch in the works but their customer support people seem to be clueless to this. Luckily, there is enough other things to occupy my time until the patch (hopefully) comes out. Though, I am scratching my head that Bethsoft would release the game with known bugs but no patch. Maybe it was a deadline thing...

Either way, they made a great game but dropped the ball on the re-release for the PS3...

My Kids are Addicted!

I haven't had a chance to touch this game yet . . . because I can't pry it free from my boys. The teenager, who hasn't been interested in video games for a couple of years, is completely hooked (obsessed?). My about-to-be-teen plays almost as much.

Their friends beat a steady stream to our house to play Oblivion. A real testament to how good this game plays, and looks, is that boys will actually sit and watch for hours while someone else is playing.

This is a PS3 title that is really worth every penny.

I'm really enjoying this game. You create your charachter which I found to be alot of fun. It took me a litle time to figure out how the game works but now that I have it down, it's becomming quite fun. A game that goes on and on and will bring gamers alot of fun. The graphics are supurb as well as the sound. I highly recommend this game for the more mature players.

Oblivion is a great game for old time D&Ders. There are endless quests to raise your level and create stronger characters and better weapons. The world itself is seemingly endless with side quests abounding and random dungeons.

Lives up to the hype

The game is everything it's cracked up to be. Amazing graphics, incredibly in depth and engaging. One of my favorite games for any system.
