All I can say is Oblivion is good for someone lookin' to kill hours at home. It can be played once through for maybe 50-70 hours and replayed to finish 100% for roughly 1.5 - 2.0 times that amount of time. Fun game, I just don't have enough time to commit.

play it again

This is very nearly the best RPG ever. I love the fact that the game is open ended and you can do whatever you want at any time or level (for the most part). The amount of customizability is nearly overwhelming at first but allows you to be anything you want, you are only limited by your own creativity. My only complaint is with the combat system, it's not terrible, it could just use some polishing. Overall, a wonderful game that will take hundreds of hours to complete.

This is a great game. The graphics, PS3, are fantastic. The caves and dungeons that you get to explore is cool. The Oblivion Gates that you have to work your way through was a lot of fun. Not being able to carry a lot of extra stuff, weapons, armour, and such, was a draw back, so you had to plan ahead, or not even pick up stuff.I was a little dissapointed when I figured that I was near the end of the game, but that's the breaks. I only played a mage, but there is a ton of other people you can be. That is really a big thing for me. I tried some of the side quests but didn't have to much luck with them. I really just like to go after the story line anyway. I always would explore caves or old forts when I ran into them in my travels and I always got a cool weapon or armour.

Deserves its Game of the Year award

Oblivion is a game you could find you and your family/friends playing for a long, LONG time. That is because this game is the deepest I have seen that not PC-based. While there is a main objective to the game (in some of the emperor's final words, "to close shut the jaws of Oblivion"), it doesn't begin and end there. Just on the initial character creation, you have choices on how your hero looks, clear down to complexion, skin color, eye color, facial structure, hair style, etc. You can choose from ten different races, 13 different birth signs (with bonus and special powers), and more than a dozen character classes, with the option to create your own custom class.

The quests and missions you go on all depends upon who you talk to (or overhear talking to someone else). Besides the different missions from the guilds (Fighter, Wizard, and the underground Thieves and Dark Brotherhood [assassin], you can find side quests that take you anywhere from five minutes to several hours.

Add the Official Game Guide, plus the two currently available expansions, and you have an almost endless game of adventuring ahead of you.

While not your average JRPG(Japanese RPG), this Western take on role-playing puts you in charge of your role. You can customize every attribute of your character class, and can even create your own if you wish. This game is heavy on customization, sometimes to the point where you'll spend more time leveling than you just spent on a quest. That is a positive point.

Oblivion has hundreds of hours of gameplay compounded into one disc. You may not play any other game for weeks after buying it.

By far the best thing out for PS3 so far

When I got a PS3 I needed a game so I looked into what PS3 had out, nothing really stood out in a great deal of critical acclaim except Elder Scrolls. I had never heard of it but found out it's actually made two buildings over from where I work in Rockville, Md.

I can't express enough how incredible this game is. I've played a lot of role-playing games, typically the linear Japanese sort, so I know what I'm talking about in this arena. The things you can do in this game, the flexibility, the level of customization is just like nothing I've ever experienced before. The 1080p beauty of this game is also something to behold and pushes even the PS3 to its limits. If you have a PS3, this game is a must buy, and I guarantee that if this game was exclusive to the PS3, more units would be flying off the shelves.

Awesome graphics. Disturbingly free to roam this huge hinterland. How many levels of warrior? OMG I'm now a level 23 dude and am able to waste anything without any damage almost. Great storyline. Direction is self made. Enjoy

Exellent Game will suck up your life.

This game is so good it is somewhat dangerous. After playing this game for over an hour I saw how much it really has to offer. After getting some of the initial introductions out of the way the game begins to bombard you with things to do and you soon find yourself with no shortage of quests to complete or places to visit. The graphics in this game are awesome, as is the storyline. The controls are a little unorthodox, but shouldn't be too hard to get used to. I highly recommend this game for anyone who even slightly enjoys RPGs or wants to see what the PS3 is really capable of.
