Engine is great, but that's about it.

The people who worked on the engine and graphics for UT 2003 deserve the credit. They put out a top-notch product that can be customized heavily (modders rejoice!). However, they seriously lacked in gameplay and in new ideas. It is almost EXACTLY the same as its predecessor, Unreal Tournament (with minor alterations on weapons such as the minigun and the addition of the game mode Bombing Run). You can spend your money on this if you want, but I would rather have spent my money on a game that has innovative gameplay over a game with only new graphics and engine.
To Quake three'ish

If you liked the first UT, then you might not want to play this just yet. Give yourself some time to forget what an awesome game the first one was. UT2003 is not a bad game by any means, but it doesn't have the flavor that the original UT had.
I think that the graphics in UT2003 are just amazing and the physics are great too. When a person is killed there are numerous different ways that the character falls or explodes. Also there is a good supply of various characters to choose from; my favorites being the Egyptians.
I give this game four stars because they did a very good job designing it but lost the feel of the original UT. If they didn't try to spice it up so much and have all the voices grunting or yelling, then I would have given it a five.
great game demands a great video card..

Unreal Tournament 2003 is by far the most visually impressive game of the year. However to get those impressive graphics at a playable framrate you're going to need a fast graphics card. I've seen several reviews from people saying the game was slow even on their modern 1Ghz+ machine with a geforce 2/4 card.
UT2003 needs the best graphics card you can throw at it. Anything less than an ATI Radeon 7500 Pro (the one with DDR memory) or a GeForce4 MX440 (*not* the 420) just won't cut it. In fact you'd be better off with a Radeon in this game than anything else.
The CPU is much less important to this game. I've been able to run it at a very stable 30 Frames Per-Second on an Athlon 650Mhz with 192Mb RAM and an ATI 7500 Pro video card at 800x600x32. However, if you want to see the true beauty of this game engine shine through, you're going to need a much faster CPU and a better graphics card. (I'd reccomend an Athlon 2500+ and Radeon 7500 pro or better)
Good game but wait if your getting it now

The reason i say wait is because they are making a sequal in i think the end of October. I like the overall playing of the game and the graphics. I also like the whole theme that the whole thing is a sport with spectators like wrestling. But i found that a few levels where a little harder than the general uprising of difficulty, The editor i can't figure out. Hopefully they'll make it a little easier like warcraft 3's editor. Also online play is extremely hard and i mean EXTREMELY. I think that they should make like levels like if you've finished your game up to novice, Your in a certain difficulty, But if your finished up to GODLIKE in the game then you with everyone of your own difficulty, that way the online play is easier for the worse players and is better practice.
Great game, great graphics, but you need a good pc to play it

This is probably one of the best games Epic's created, but my computer's video card is not as good as others. To install the
game you need to have a code,so how would install the game if you lost the code? Besides those drawbacks, I love this game overall.I recommend it to any UT fan out there or fans of first-person-shooters.

This game is the one of the best FPS. It's a must ! I recommend you to have a High-Speed Connection because solo mission is not very long and play vs. computer is not the same. The graphic are amazing ! I have the minimum requierement + an 64 Mb Graphic card and it play like if I was having the best computer. Really you need to have this game , I swear !

I like this game..I've noticed a lot of the reviewers here didn't like it but let me make a few things clear.
This game's strength lies in its multiplayer, the single player couldn't hold my interst, I had the most fun playing on servers with new and unusual maps and mutators.
Don't even bother with the campain unless your learning how to play, go for the instant action mode its much more fun without the pressure of having to win to advance. Even so the instant action is more practice than anything.
The graphics are amazing, if you have a relatively high end system you can run it with max everything with pretty much no slowdown. Also for the most fun you should have a broadband connection.
While this game probly isn't nearly as good a the orignal, open up a few new mods and you can have lots of fun.
have a slow comp and narrowband???
Don't bother.

UT 2003 has got to be one of the most fun games I have ever played. The multiplayer is beyond anything ever seen. My suggestion for most would be to skip the single-player and head straight into the arena, where tons of different levels, modifiers, guns, and game-types colide. CApture the flag, bombing run (football with high explosives and other dangerous impliments of destruction) team deathmatch, and free-for-all are some of the game types playable. Modifiers like triple-jump, low gravity, and instant-kill make the game a lot more interesting. After playing instant kill with the shock rifle, you will beging to turn and "click" at someone walking around the corner. Anything and everything moving will die. THat's the greatest part of the game: the non-stop chaotic slaughter that goes on. You will never be able to hold still. Having shaky hands is almost an advantage, enabling you to aim a shoot at otherwise unherd of speeds. Rockets, the minigun (my favorite), adrenaline powers, the redeemer (heh heh heh) and masses of gore, the list of advantages goes on and on. Definatley worth your money and time.
great game!
