Disappointed...

My favorite video game of all time remains the original Medal of Honor, the game that set very high standards for the first person shooter genre on the PlayStation console back in 1999. The original game was a massive hit, featuring enthralling missions that progressed beautifully level by level, tight level designs, and a believable enemy AI, all presented with an epic war movie feel. Obviously my expectations for MOH Frontline were understandably high, given the reputation of this franchise, the plethora of postive reviews, and the capabilities of the Xbox console. However, after playing through this game I must say I was trebly disappointed to find it is not the inspired sequel I had hoped for.

Perhaps most disappointing to me was the fact many of the missions are directly taken from the original MOH and MOH Underground, and even feature many of the same objectives. While the level's environments have been designed somewhat differently, the feeling of déjà vu on numerous occasions was still a major let down. While this is not going to bother those who haven't played the original MOH or MOH Underground, veterans of the series will undoubtedly feel cheated out of the opportunity to have experienced a true progression in this series. For the most part, Frontline feels more like a reiteration of the previous MOH games (with marginally improved graphics) rather then a new game entirely.

Which brings up anther subject... the graphics. While the MOH series has never really featured impressive graphics, given the capabilities of the Xbox, I felt cheated on this point as well. While the character models are pretty solid and well animated, the buildings and environments have a rushed and almost cartoonish quality to them, with unimpressive and often badly pixilated textures. Sadly the game has not progressed much in this department from the original PlayStation games. Perhaps this would be excusable if the level design and game play was outstanding, but both are very liner and feel quite dated in comparison to the standards set by other Xbox shooters, such as Halo.

While the Xbox presents a beautiful opportunity for the developers of MOH to really take the series to new heights, unfortunately Frontline feels tired and stuck in time, unwilling to offer anything that hasn't already been done before by the other games in this series. While the opening D-Day level is worth a mention as a truly exciting experience, it is the exception in this game, rather then the rule. WWII buffs will still find the game enjoyable, but those seeking a fresh progression in the series or just an exciting FPS experience will sadly find MOH Frontline is a disappointment.

Stop making "Medal Of Honor" games. They have the same stupid A.I, and the same idiotic story. The gameplay just gets OLD really fast. Please, don't even rent this game, spend your time just playing great games, like "Halo", or "Final Fantasy X", and "Star Wars:Battlefront."

A Game that you can't Stop Playing!!

Medal of Honor: Frontline is one of the best 1st person shooters that I have played. I have Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for the computer and I love it. I decided to rent Medal of Honor: Frontline for the Xbox. It turned out to be an awesome game and it was worth the money! Medal of Honor: Frontline is a game that has 6 single-player missions and each mission has about 3 or 4 levels each. There are more levels in Medal of Honor: Frontline than in Halo (another great shooter) so you have a better variety of scenerios to play in. Take on the role of Lt. Jimmy Patterson and go from Omaha Beach to a Ho-IX (jet fighter) hanger. Also, Medal of Honor: Frontline has all-out multiplayer battles where you play against your friends with different sets of weapons and in different scenerios. Finally, the sound is as realistic as it gets and the graphics are very clear. In conclusion, anyone who likes a 1st person shooter, would just get addicted to this game!!

Bad Bad Bad

I can't beleive this game was so poor. The missions were lame. The multiplayer was so annoying. The weapons were poor. And lastly the graphics were so dark I couldn't see the buildings I kept running into. I'm not going to adjust the brightness setting on my T.V. for one game! Forget about trying to scope someone out or using any kind of skill to kill anyone. Its pretty much fire your weapon at will and hope for the best. After playing the pc version online of this game, xbox shouldn't have even bothered putting it out. I would say rent this and find out for yourself before you buy it considering the hype.

SO REAL! YOU GONNA LOVE IT!

Man, this was very intense! If you love HALO, you will definitely love this one! The game follows historical events on WWII, US (you) vs. Germans, shows some real footages between the missions.
If you are looking for an exciting game, you gotta have this! This will definitely satisfy you!

It's no HALO

Major complaints are no system link play (multiplayer for only 4), nor can you play the single player mode with more than 1 player (unlink HALO where you can play with two people at once). I'm not that far into the single player game but I don't like that I have to meet a bunch of small objectives, it should be more free flowing like Battlefield 1942 on the PC.

Overall the graphics are great, and I did play multiplayer with two other friends and it's pretty good, but if you could play via system link with 8 or 16 it would be awesome. I would have give it 4.5 stars if it had the system link capability

This game is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you like World War 2 action, here it is. I think this is better than Halo, personally I preffer realistic games better than future ones. This is perfect. There are about 15 missions and these are missions! They're envolving, and very fun. The sound and the graphics are incredible! I became obsessed with it. Multiplayer is included, but there's no playing together on a mission like Halo. Multiplayer can be separated into teams or every man for himself. Looks are realistic, but it's not violent, so maybe your parents will let you get it. Buy this game if you want World War 2 action!

the best game ever

when i first heard about this game it sounded so cool. I finally rented it and i was so amazed how great the graphics, sound, and gameplay were. The explosions are awsome! Right from the beginning [d-day] the action just flows onto your screen. You start off by getting blown off a boat and you need to find your captain. Then you need to shoot at the bunkers so your soldiers can be rescued. This isnt even close to how much action there is in the whole game just wait until you steal a Nazi uniform and i.d.! When im at school all i think about is " i gotta get home and play MOH." I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MoH is definitely worth buying!

I've only rented this game a few days ago but I can already unequivocally recommend this game. The soundtrack is absolutely stunning. It really immerses you in the sense of playing out Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. During the storming of Normandy you even have fellow soldiers getting sick. It is astounding the attention to detail. I have not played HALO as I just got my xbox but this is the best FPS I've come across in a while.
