Good shooter could have been better

This is a very nice game and on the Xbox it is even better, love those controllers over the playstations. Good shooter game...I have to admit it didn't come up to the hype that Halo did though.
Some of the scenarios aren't too believable...capturing a sub single handed? But after all it is only a game. The D-day invasion opening is good but there to somewhat unlikely... but stranger things have happened. My biggest disappointment was NO cooperative play on the levels as in Halo. You can play against others but you can't work with them vs. the game...to me a huge letdown. All in all though a good game.

Medal of Honor Frontline - Amazing Visuals

This game (with the exeption of the first board) has been rebuilt entirely from the PC version. It has amazingly stunning and authentic visuals, plus vintage weaponry and styling. I am rating the title a 3 only because it does not take full advantage of the X-Box hardware. While the environments are very well detailed, the gameplay channels you through specific paths and you are not allowed to explore or utilize strategy as part of the game. The enemy AI is also quite low compared to Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell - which are more modern combat games. That said, it is still very fun to play and if you are a fan of the PC version you will love the re-vamped X-Box title.

there I was, on the beach...........................

For a long time I thought there was no life after Halo. Morrowind was great, but buggy. Then, along came MOH. Having had many discussions with my dad, who was over there at the time, I felt that the realism of this game was uncanny. It is well-structured, with an "easy" level (yeah, sure) which allows you to get a feel for the layout of the game, after which you can get blasted in many different ways by a pack of really nefarious Nazis. The game controller was really easy to learn, and ultimately quite intuitive. The soundtrack is great without being intrusive, and the gameplay is riveting and addictive. My only complaint is that there is no way to save a game in mid-sequence. That, however, is a minor flaw. You really have to buy this game!

4 stars possibly less.....

This games is very fun. Its kind of like playing Halo or 007:Agent Under Fire. EXCEPT its NOT as good as Halo but its BETTER than Agent Under Fire. The worst part is that the multiplayer levels are not as big as I had hoped, and they don't have the stationary guns that you can you against the Nazi's in single player. I reccomend buying this game only if you are sure you'll like this type of game. If you're looking to try a new first person shooter, I reccomend renting this instead.

This Game ROCKS!!!!! ; )

Medal of Honor is a fun game with everything imaginable. Things like: Realistic sounds, looks real. This game makes you feel like your in the war, not just playing. From setting the bomb in the submarine to helping Barnes blow up tanks, this game rules. Best war game ever.

Not bad, though very "Playstation-2 ish"

This game has a great story line, and much action. Sometimes very intense. The only problem with it is it is like playing a game on playstation 2 - in other words the characters you control are somewhat difficult to control and the characters in the game in general look and react plain stupid.

If this game was built to take advantage of the capabilities of the xbox, and the graphics and characters looked and reacted as you would hope on the xbox, it would be a great game. But having the feel of a childish game within a mature story, it is a big dissapointment.

Maybe a second version will be released with more realistic characters.....

NOT HALO, BUT CERTAINLY CLOSE

First off, if you don't own Halo than you should be out buying it and not reading this review.

Medal of Honor: Frontline is an amazing game in its own right and stands as one of the best FPS's (first person shooters) on Xbox. The graphics, while not stunning, have their moments and are very realistic. The animation is awesome as well and your slain enemys spin and fly backwards from the blasts of your weapons. Perhaps the best part of the game is the musical score which captures the drama and intense action of the WWII based levels. Add on the great value of $20 and there isn't really any reason why you shouldn't own this game

This has probably been one of my favorite games on the Xbox. The combats are challenging, the graphics detailed, and with sound that really emerses you in the war. Why does it not get 5 stars? Because of several points hate...

The checkpoints in the missions are too far apart, especially in some of the later, more difficult missions. Once I've replayed a section five times, trying to get through, I don't want to have to struggle through it again when I get killed 15 minutes later.

This soldier should have failed basic. The character you play cannot climb and can barely jump. Moderately sloped terrain completely stops him. Games at this level need to start letting people do what people can actually do. This has greatly improved, but is still not good enough.

A lot of problems with the objects not being where the graphics show them. this results in shooting trees that aren't there, bumping into objects that you clearly have room to get around (or over for that matter). I have also fallen through the wall of the occasional building and found myself trapping inside the polygon.

Starts Great and then becomes Average

When I read the reviews of this game it sounded like James Bond Golden Eye set in WWII. What could be better? 20 Missions, 3 Difficulty Settings, tons of weapons - Made this a sell to me.

First thing: The taking of the beach at Normandy is one of the most intense gaming moment I have played thru. Your buddies being shot up, Bullets flying everywhere and total Chaos. Plus this feeling if you don't move quick the mission could end premature. Also for the plus in the game: The Germans A.I. has a little more oomph in this game compared to others such games - They hide behind walls, throw your gernades back at you, and will take cover to shoot at you.

But from there the game turns more and more average. First it's completely linear - You have to take a certain path to objects - no sneaking in the back door, the enemies are set to appear when you step on a certain points - and to appear after so many minutes (A weird thing can happen where if you rush thru a mission quicker than normal you can actually see a enemy materialize in front of you from nowhere), and last there is only one way to finish a mission.

Next the guns are really interchangeable - Either it's a German Sniper Rifle, Sub Machine Gun or Pistol vs. a American Sniper Rifle Sub Machine Gun or Pistol: they both shoot and act the same. Second the missions are pretty easy - Just shoot your way thru, not many side quests plus some missions take less than 7 mins. The different difficulty settings don't really add anything, just a little harder and you don't heal between missions. With a little free time it's no problem to finish all 20 missions on one difficulty in a weekend.

The Multiplayer is fun I must say, or else I would give this only 2 stars. However, when Ghost Recon and Mech Warrior came out at the same time and both had support for Xbox Live. - I can't imagine why they wouldn't with this game - Could have made this a good game at least.

My advise is wait for the better First Person Shooters coming out in May and June 2003. Or rent it for the weekend.

Graphics:
Very good in one player mode. Its so amusing to run up to a guy in the first mission and watch him get taken out by an incoming mortar, and after the sand clears you notice he's not there. People do react quite differently depending upon how you kill or injure them. I noticed at one point in the war where it got a little "busy" (tons of fights going on and soldiers everywhere) it actually got a little slow on the x-box! Oh my god!!!

The four stars, as opposed to five, came from here because of multi-player mode. The graphics of your opposing multi-player buddies don't always follow their motions very well. For example, when a character jumps, it looks like something out of super mario bros for NES. You can't tell if a competitor in multi-player is looking up or down...or AIMING up or down! A little work here by EA could of done wonders.

Audio:
Sound affects are GREAT. Music is great from a quality standpoint. From a preference standpoint, what can you expect, its half a century ago! I speak some German too...its amusing to hear what the Nazis have to say.

Control:
A cross between Dead to Rights and Halo. I find the method EA used to set up the controls very well laid out. There's a function to "center" your aim also, helps a lot when you're looking at the beautful sky and an enemy soldier is screaming in german at you straight across the way. There's a control to poke around corners and out of bunkers, too...very helpful.

Gameplay:
Great fun. You get different missions throughout everywhere using your skills. All sorts of fun things to interact with, like blowing up crates. Try not to take out too many of your fellow soldiers with automatic weapons, too!
