I got this game the FIRST day it was released a long time ago haha. But I was thinkin about writing a review for it. I think this is one of the best shooters actually ever made. The shooting engine is set up VERY nicely. The storyline here in this game is really good, makes sense, doesnt make you lost keeps things on track. Its fun fighting with marines on your side and talking to them. Fun driving in vehicles aka the Warthog/Ghost/Tank etc. The guns are good, not ALOT of them, but still a good enough variety of them. I played this game all day for a long time lol. The multiplayer on this game is insane. One of the funnest shooting games in multiplayer. Capture The Flag and all those types of game types. If you never played it but want to start fresh with Halo, then pick this copy up, price is cheap! Worth it. One of the best here.

Halo demonstrates an exemplary combination of game play, graphics, and sound. The game offers ltos of gameplay, and also offers replay. The fun part is trying to tackle it from different angles ever time! You will not be disappointed with this game!

I am a lousy game player, only tried a FPS with DOOM about a zillion years ago, and have a very low frustration threshold. Hence why I don't play a lot of games. Too often they are just too difficult to get through (spending hours trying to get out of a building, traversing the same passages again and again, long after you've dispatched all the bad guys is just not fun...). I was very happy with this game though, as it was pretty easy to figure out what to do. The designers did a great job of layout and other tricks to help keep you moving forward and progressing most of the time. Good value. I actually look forward to playing it every day, and actually believe I stand a chance of getting to the end!
One word to describe this game: WOW!

Many of you think "X-box is only graphics not games", this was true to me when i played Shrek and Cel Damage, those games really suck. Then i played Halo and my opinion about the X-box changed. This game changed me from an X-box hater to an X-box fan. This game is really amazing. The graphics are better than a computer! This game is for now the best X-box game available. When you control the car it is a little diffcult but you'll get use to it. Buy it if you are looking for a great first person shooter.
Best X-box game yet!

If you own an x-box and you haven't bought this game yet, WHY NOT!?
The graphics are amazing, the controls are great, and the vechile mode suceeds where countless other games have failed.
I would only make two negative comments - 1) the "M" rating is quite undeserved. "T" maybe, but "M" no way! 2)a lot of the game is very bright and colorful, it looks like something out of a Disney movie.
Anyway, all that aside, Halo still wins my vote for best video game yet. You'll get addicted playing multiplayer against your friends. This game is going down as a classic.
Best FPS console game!

I've been playing FPSs since DOOM and I definitively preferred to play them on a PC rather than on a console, because in a PC you always had better graphics, better sound and much better gameplay and fun. Well, Halo may now be proving me wrong. It may not have BOTS or Internet capabilities and in order to go multiplayer, you either need more controllers (and a BIG tv to let 4 people play in the same set), or hook up several x-boxes together (and a tv set for each console) and the single player (or 2 people cooperative mode) may be somewhat too "short" to finish all the campaigns, BUT it is, for sure, the best FPS I have ever played in a console. Me and my friends do not care about carrying our x-boxes and tv sets in order to have a wonderful Halo multiplayer game.
What has the game to offer?
* Single Player (Campaigns, which can be played in 4 difficulty levels)
* Multiplayer-Cooperative: 2 players going through the campaigns
* Multiplayer-Split Screen: 2 to 4 players (4 players max per xbox, up to 4 xbox interconnected via an ethernet hub, so that means a 16 players experience!)
* Many enemies (wait till you play difficulty level: Legend) with great AI
* Many weapons (pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, grenades, but wait, there are many other weapons, like those on vehicles or even Covenant[alien] weapons).
* You can ride the Warthog or the Scorpion (tank), or even fly the Ghost or the Banshee (Covenant vehicles).
* Awesome music and sound effects (which help the game become more addictive).
You can define different player profiles (tip: you can have only 1 game in progress per profile, so remember to have several profiles defined before hand) as well as multiplayer map settings for your personal touch in multiplayer games. Once you finish the campaigns, you'll want to start all over again with a different dificulty level. But wait, with MULTIPLAYER, you'll never get bored of this game.
I miss the keyboard and mouse, sure, but you get used to the controller pretty fast. I've seen people learn how to move around HALO in less than a day (and never played FPS games before!).
If I had to compare Halo to UT or Quake III (console versions), I'd say that HALO is WAY more fun and much more easier to adjust to. Unless you have only 1 controller and you don't happen to have any friends with x-box/Halo (you need a copy of Halo for every xbox in order to go multiplayer), you'll feel kind of dissapointed after ending the campaigns, because you haven't tested cooperative mode and even better, MULTIPLAYER.
Bottom line: If you have an xbox or plan to buy one, get HALO, you'll be amazed! If you do not have an xbox, what are you waiting for?

This game is fun, all exept for it keeps repeating itself alot of times. The story line is great, and it's the best multiplayer game i've EVER played, but I just dont think it reaches the requirements some gamers want.

Clearly I'm not the first to jump on the bandwagon, but it IS true - "Halo" is a fantastic game, and is easily the best first-person shooter on ANY console system. For that matter, it's one of the best games on a console system, period, and is the current absolute must-own for Xboxers. Point of fact, it's nearly worth getting an Xbox for this game alone.
The single-player campaign warrants the price tag all by itself thanks to its blistering action, wonderful scripting, and interesting storyline (which features a splendid twist that alters the entire tone of the game). But what truly gives "Halo" such a long shelf life is its multiplay. If there's a better way to lose track of time than multiplayer "Halo," I certainly don't know of one. Killing your friends (or getting killed by your friends) is fantastic fun, and, what's more, you can tweak the gameplay options to your heart's content. To add some icing to this already delicious cake, you can go through the entire single-player campaign with a friend alongside. This cooperative mode is something more games should offer.
Despite what you may have heard, "Halo" is not perfect, though. The campaign likes to recycle its settings, and sometimes makes you feel as if you're just going in circles (even though you're not). The level design certainly could have used some work, and should be given extra attention in the upcoming sequel.
In the end, though, "Halo" lives up to all that hype (which is a hard thing to do). Every console shooter from here on has some high standards to live up to.

Halo: Combat evolved
Is by far the best launch game for the Xbox console, with a riveting plot that has the player take the role of a Master Chief in the United Space Command (UNSC). An alien force known as the Covenant has launched a war on humanity and you are humanity's only hope for survival. The game begins as the master chief is woken up to confront the covenant troops that have boarded your ship. Immediately you are rushed off to the captain who orders you to get off the ship with the Artificial Intelligence A.I. known as Cortana. As the game unravels you will encounter hordes of new enemies, a fleet of vehicles, a vast array of weapons, and expansive terrains that helped launch this game to the top of its league leading to the games award as game of the year. Bungie studios the creators of Halo has a well founded reputation for having creating countless games that have been ranked as hits for Mac and Pc. With so much to explore and discover in Halo it is no wonder why Halo is not only one of the best launch games for the Xbox but also one of the best shooters ever.
