Bungie reminds us why -they- published Marathon

Many years ago, Bungie was a small company lead by a guy named Jason Jones releasing Pathways into Darkness and Marathon, games that broke the shell for its time.

Today, Bungie is still a relatively small company, still lead by a guy named Jason Jones, still breaking new ground- but they've moved on. Marathon, came and went despite a still loyal fan base, and Marathon 2 after it. Jason seems to have decided that Doom-esque Mac shooting wasn't enough, and now he has unleashed a behemoth of a game: Halo.

The storyline: spellbinding. The graphics: superb. The controls: smooth. Action: riveting. The replayability: it's all there.

Basically you're a guy named John 117, coined Master Chief, trained and transmogrified into a mechanical, human beast by the UNSC (futuristic military). After fleeing a planet called Reach that was on the path to destruction, you are thawed from your cryotube on a craft called The Pillar of Autumn. But suddenly aliens called the Covenant strike and shanghi your entire ship. Captain Keyes upon the Pillar of Autumn has decided to emergency crash-land on a mysterious ring in a last-ditch effort to evade the aliens. So down you go, and with it your only friend, Cortana, and advanced cybernetic AI bent on hindering if not destroying Covenant armada and gathering as many human survivors. And from there the story takes off...

Amazing is the only word I have to describe this. A perfect score, definitly; on par with only Half-life, System Shock 2 and the other greats out there.

Three words: Best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i bought this game and started playing it i was hooked on! i pulled an all nighter from 8 PM to 6 AM. It was the greatest experience ever. Even now i play it every day for about 6-8 hours. The graphics are amazing and the best ever, the gameplay is the best, the multiplayer is awesome when i play with system link with 2 Xbox's. If you want the best game ever on any console buy halo because i guarantee it is a mindblowing experience you will never forget it.

this is the best game ive ever played. its the best first person shooter of all time. its also the best xbox game. its not just hype. ok to be fair maybe its slightly overhyped. just slightly though. this game has awe inspiring combat. breathtaking graphics. immersive worlds. perfect controls. and a story so incredible youll be suprized hours after beating the game. what ill do now is list some things you should know about the game. levels- pillar of autumm- this is the first level in the game. set on a futurustic spacecraft. youre captain orders you to shoot down every alein on the ship. so just go ahead and unload on them. even though the rooms are a bit confusing. the combat is actaully quite easy. well depending on what difficulty you play on. halo- this is one of the longest levels in the game. its a grassy moautintop level. you ensue in intense alein battles. but most of the time youre riding around in your warthog. truth and reconsilation- this is a challenging and fun level. the combat is very difficult here. youll need plenty of firepower. silent cartogropher- this is an easy and short level. help out marines. then drive to a building to activate halos carogropher room. assault on control room- pilot 3 veichles. immerse on intense batteles. blow up things with your rocket launcher. all while trying to uncovers halos control room. in this amazing action packed snowcoveerd level. 343 guilty spark- youll need keen knowlege to get trough this confusing maze. get trough a swamp. and try to outmaneuver some hefty repetition. all while on the pursuit of captain keyes. the library- an aceint tomb level. this is where youll need a brain to fight repetition. and some serious firepower to defeat the flood. two betrayls- this is almost a rehash of the control room. but its still pretty cool. you can drive the banshee. and the action is fast and exciting. keyes- emba3rk on a journey to rescue captain keyes. when aleins prove too much for you to handle. youll have acess to an escape pod. the maw- this is the last level in the game. a reviit to the pillar of autumm. once you get out youre in a desert area. equipped with huge weapons. but youll still have to fight for your life. in this level is the dramatic ending to the game. difficultys-. easy- do it on this if youre a begginer. normal- a bit more challenging than easy. but highly doable. heroic- very hard this will your test youre hardcore gaming skill. legendary- dont play it on this unless someone is paying you by the hour. painfully INSANELY difficult. youll die almost instantly. impossible. weapons- pistol- this is a very effective weapon. it works best on grunts. and has a great zooming feature. which allows you to kill some enemies with one shot. ma5b assault rifle- this is a powerful weapon good for upclose attacks. works best on elites. carrys lots of ammo. but also runs out quickly. sniper rifle- a great stealth weapon. that fires far far away. like the pistol. this has a great zooming options. this gun kills even elites with one shot. but this weapon is terrible for upclose combat. shotgun- this weapon is great. because it takes out your enemy with one or two shots. rocketlauncher- the most powerful weapon in the game. this gun shoots rockets. that can blow up huge units like tanks all terain veichles hunters etc. use it wisely. it can only carry 8 units of ammo. flamethrower- flame your enemies to death. fuel rod gun- this gun is very powerful. its can shoot far away. and always kills with one shot. plasma rifle- this gun is fairly effective. but probally not strong enough for big aleins like hunters or elites. great when used on jackals and grunts. plasma pistol- this gun is highly weak. but shoots very quickly, it has the cool feature. of having a bullet you casn hold before you release. it can do damage that way. needler- a very unique and inventive weapon. like the plasma pistol. this will hardly arm big aleins. but can be effective against jackals and grunts. it kills buy throwing glass shards at enemies. veichles-. warthog- this is like a jeep. except it has a chaingun on the back. and when you drive. your marines gets in the back and shoots the aleins. this veichle. also has a side seat. that marines with rifles usaully sit in. squrpion. a highly powered. army style assault tank. this veichle carrys a huge gun in front with incredible zoom. it can also hold up to 4 passengers at a time. including the driver. banshee- this is an airplane like assault craft. it can fly high above. it has a gun in front. allowing you to assault enemies from high distances. ghost- limited to the ground only. this veichle is fast but frustrating to maneuver. like the banshee. it has a gun in the front. but can only attack enemies on the ground. get halo. youll love it. if you dont beleive me. ask the other about(...)4520000000000000 halo lovers out there.

I recently purchased an Xbox and being a fan of the FPS genre thought i had better give Halo a try. Even with all the hype i figured it was just another good first person shooter. Whew was i pleasantly surprised. Great graphics, fast paced and highly addictive. Its not just hype folks its the real deal. Can't even stop playing. Looking forward to Halo 2. A+++

From the moment you stick the CD in the Xbox you are amazed at the graphic quality that Halo brings out...Awesome concept and fun to play...not bad story line... Nonstop action but some moments are confusing...other than that it is a great game...

This, is BY FAR, ONE OF THE BEST FPS, wait lemme rephrase that, ONE OF THE BEST GAMES to be made. EVER. No questions about it. If your not into "playing levels" challenge some friends. Or sign up with Gamespy and play ONLINE against other people all over the world! This game, by far is the best game i have ever played. And to top it off, the graphics rule, WATER looks like WATER and grass LOOKS LIKE GRASS. If there's one game your getting for the X-Box, make it Halo, you wont regret it.

Halo is a great game, but the conntrols are hard to do but youl get used to them predtty fast. the graphics are great and are very realistic.it is worth every penny. THIS IS DEFFINENTLY ONE OF THE COOLEST GAMES ON EARTH. I GARRUNTEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
