Sold my PS2 for an X-Box

And Halo was the first game that I purchased in the endeavor. Boy, oh, boy was I pleased. I am not the biggest FPS fan but when I play a good one, I love it. Halo is an amazing game. For one player, it is a great game where you also get some marine based support. It' much fun overpowering masses of Covenant forces. Then you get the vehicles. Amazing. The Warthog and Scorpian are great but my favorite is the Ghost. The Ghost is a hover-bike that the Covenant use. The graphics and fluidity of the game are amazing. No slowdown in all the carnage, something that the PS2 had too much of.

On to multipayer. I haven't played too many deathmatches, but the co-op is unbelievable. It provides hours and hours of mass destruction. Then you and a buddy get the vehicles. Still, no slowdown for a split-screen multiplayer game. Unbelievable. Me and my buddy played for 5 hours straight on Saturday.

Happy I sold the PS2 and got the X-Box. It did cost about a hundred dollars after the trade in, but at least I have a system on my shelf that is more than a dust recepticle. :o)

Not the best game...

Yes, I know there's over a thousand reviews to say differently. The game is just...slow...when compared to games like Unreal Tournament. Maybe it's the huge maps that make it seem slow, but it seems more along the line of Nintendo 64's "Goldeneye" (which is actually playable with the Turbo cheat) then PC games like Half-life. The lack of online playing really is a handicap--if it was on Xbox live it would have bumped up the rating a bit. If you haven't purchased the game, wait for Halo 2, but in the meantime play Unreal Championship. If you must, rent the game--it can be easily beat over a weekend.

Best FPS ever... Nevermind Best GAME EVER!

You've probably already heard alot about Halo for XBOX. Halo is a first-person shooter game which combines fantasic graphics, awesome story, and no-doubt best multiplayer action ever. Halo redefines the meaning of "a video game". It pushes the envelope in every way possible. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS:
-Single Player Missions are amazingly well developed
-Story is interesting and exciting
-Graphics are what you expect and more from a XBOX GAME
-Multiplayer (wether being system link or local xbox) is the best in any game ever made

CONS:
-No bot support for multiplayer

Halo desires every star I have given it (a 5 out of 5), because once you start playing it you will never stop. I have had Halo since XBOX came out, and I still haven't gotten bored of it. This game is worth the ... investment, that is if you don't already have it. ALSO if you have a high speed internet connection (LAN, CABLE, T1, etc.) you will be able to play HALO online with XBconnect ... or Xbox Tunnel ... BUY THIS GAME, NOW! You will be very glad of your purchase.

For years I had been a sony robot. Finally after 3 ps1's and 2 ps 2's I got sick of their being pieces of junk. Based on what I'd heard, I bought an XBOX. I also got splinter cell and Halo. Splinter cell made me say metal gear what? I thought it couldn't be equaled, but then I put in Halo- vindication for the XBOX. I was sarcastic- usually these "flagship" games are dissapointing, but not this time. I will say I tried desert storm, rainbow 6, etc, and I hated those "doom-esque" squad shooters, but this is far different, and has a different feel. AN excellent game. Think "starship troopers"- and keep that same fun feel, and you are beginning to envision Halo. I am playing single- I cannot imagine how fun it must be online, but I would rank it with resident evil, metal gear and splinter cell as a defining game. Replay appeal is limitless. Now I just have to get online.

HALO (Plot Simplified)

Introduction:
Okay, I'm writing this review because of an article I read in Gamepro magazine that said that HALO's plot was so difficult that not even it's biggest fanboys could follow it, and I strongly disagree. I do not consider myself to be a HALO fanboy and in my opinion, HALO's story & plot are rather easy to follow compared to other games out there.
So, just so you know, I won't be writing much about the gameplay here. There are already plenty of other reviews for that, my review is to simplify the plot so that anyone who read that article or heard from a friend that HALO's story/plot are too difficult to follow can read it and draw their own conclusions...
Why? Because HALO is one of the greatest games I've ever played, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out on it because some people happen to think that it's plot/story are to difficult to follow.

The Plot: (Simplified)
In the future, human kind has finally created space ships capable of interstellar travel. However, this has caught the attention of The Covenant, an alien race of religious extremeists who view human kind as some kind of great demonic presence. (Sound familiar?) Now human kind is locked in an epic struggle for survival against The Covenant.

The Marines: Human kind's finest soldiers. Unfortunately, The Covenant soldiers tend to make short work of them...

The Covenant: An alien race of religious extremeists bent on the destruction of the human race.

Spartan II: Super soldiers trained for combat since they were just children, complete with cybernetic enhancements, the Spartan II's are the only soldiers who can go toe to toe with The Covenant's soldiers and hope to prevale. Unfortuately, since the Covenant attack on the human space colony "Reach" only one Spartan II was known to survive. Spartan 117, the Master Chief.

Reach: A human space colony that was attacked and destroyed by The Covenant.

Spartan 117, the Master Chief: The ultimate Spartan II, capable of handling both human & covenant weapons & vehicles. Man kind's last hope for survival.

HALO: A ring world created by the Forerunners as a last resort against The Flood.

Forerunners: An ancient alien race that is now extinct, they were responsible for the advent of HALO.

The Flood: A paracitic race of aliens, once they attach themselves to a human or covenant host, the host will begin to mutate and reproduce more Flood spores.

This is basically all you need to know about the HALO universe, the rest you will learn as you play through the game.
If what you've read so far sounds too complicated, then it probably is for you. if not, buy yourself a copy of "HALO: Combat Evolved" and let the adventure for the salvation of the human race begin!

I was never a big fan of FPS's, (First-Person Shooters) but HALO's smooth controls & epic story made me forget I was playing an FPS at all!

Overall Rating: 5 Stars! The award winning classic that started the epic adventure! No XBOX LIVE capabilities, but top-notch multiplayer function & epic story make HALO: Combat Evolved a 5 Star experience.

So good it made me sick!

I just got my XBOX and Halo was the 1st game I played. I was setting close to my big screen and actually ended up getting nausious after playing awhile. This is a great game, like being in your own sci-fi movie.

Microsoft likes to break the rules. They decided to break the unwritten rule that says that only Japanese companies can be successful in the video game business. They decided to break the unwritten rule that says that a game console has to be smaller than your car. They decided to break the unwritten rule that says that your user base should exist because of the quality of the games, not because of a massive marketing blitz.

Apparently, they have also decided to break the rule that says that "The best game" on any given console should actually be a good game in general.

In short, Halo is awful. Yes, it is certainly pretty. But if I wanted to look at pretty pictures, I'd buy a movie. A videogame is also supposed to be fun to play. Halo is not. The control scheme is horrid, a deficiency that is only compounded by the Evil Giant Control Pads. The gameplay itself is repetitive and derivative... every positive aspect of the game was stolen directly from older FPS games like Unreal Tournament and Half-Life.

SO:
-If you are thinking about buying the Xbox because of Halo, DON'T. Buy a PS2 or Gamecube instead. The former has a huge library of excellent games, and the latter is less expensive and has a proven track record of quality games.

-If you already OWN an Xbox, wait until Unreal Championship comes out. At the very least, it's a franchise with a strong heritage.

Well, I rented this game to see if I'd like it before I bought it. I'm glad I didn't buy it. If I wanted a game where I go and shoot things I'd just pull out Metal Gear Solid. It was "interesting" to put it nicely. Controlling the vehicles was difficult. It got boring after a while but if you haven't ever played any other games where you go and shoot you might like it. The game was almost identical to others like it except for the plot, creatures, and guns.

halo combat reduced

halo is completely overated. im 17 and i gotta tell you metroid prime is way better. halo has horrible controls horrible camera angles repetitive gameplay zero innivation and most of the game was pretty EASY. theres only a few weapons and they look like sh-==. the graphics are only mediocre and the gameplay is the same crap over and over again. even rachet and clank going commando for the ps2 was a better shooter than this garbage. if you really want the best shooter dump your xbox get a gamecube and get metroid prime. a game that should have got as much credit as this overated trash. dont get the game. because this awful game is a poor sad and pathetic excuse for a shooter game. most of the time you are running around in circles anyway.
