I have always wanted this game; ever since it's release. But fopr some reason; I never seemed to get it. Every chance I had, something always went wrong. Wether Blockbuster wouldn't accept my membership card; or, I was short a few bucks. FINALY, after being out with my uncle; not even looking for it, I stumbled across it for $20! We bought it in a heartbeat! As soon as I came home, I started playing it. I was simply blown out of the water by its amazing graphics! It was so colorful! Not to mention the fun of playing it! The controls were perfect! I found it challenging, but not too bad to the point of frustration (exept on a few levels). Overall, this game is definitely worth buying for $20+, wether youre a die hard sonic fan, or new to the series.

BUY THIS GAME! BUY IT NOW!

Probably the best 3-D Sonic game yet!

The first Sonic game for GameCube that's NOT a port of a Dreamcast version. There are 4 teams, with 3 characters in each team. There's Team Sonic (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, Omega), Team Chaotix (Espio, Charmy, Vector), and Team Rose (Amy, Cream, Big). Each team has a speed, flight, and power character. During gameplay, you control one character from your team, and the other two follow you and attack enemies. You can press the X and Y buttons to change your character. You need different characters to get past different obstacles, such as swinging on a pole as Sonic, breaking rocks as Knuckles, and flying as Tails. Characters can level up (maximum level is 3 per stage) by touching checkpoints, deafeating enemies, or finding level up spheres. At the end of a level, you get a letter (A, B, C, D, or E) depending on your score, rings, and the time you completed the level in. A is the best, while E is the worst. There are 14 (long) levels, and bosses every two levels IIRC. There are also special stages where you have to get a Chaos Emerald. This game also features the return of Metal Sonic! Each team has a different storyline. Also, each team has a 'Team Blast' attack that can be activated by pressing the Z button when the Team Blast gauge is full. The game is quite easy to learn. If you played the Adventure games, this game will be easy to learn. I got a 'B' my first time in the demo, though the final version will probably be harder than the demo. There are also lots of things to unlock, such as a rumored Team Super if you collect all the Chaos Emeralds. Also, Shadow supposedly died at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, so it may be reavealed in this game how (or if) he survied. He has amnesia when you first meet him, so you won't find out too early.

Overall, this will be a great game, which is coming out on January 6th, 2004. Its coming out 2 weeks later for the PS2 and Xbox.

Sonic Team made the best Sonic Game

This game would be the best if the camera views wasn't so bad, but it is a good game. It has five teams ( three characters in each team) the teams are Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, Team Chaotix and Team Super witch you have to unlock. You can switch your character by pressing the X and Y buttons, team has a speed, flight and power character such as speed ( sonic) flight (tails) and power ( Knuckles) you can only use one of each character while the other two follow you. At the end of each stage you will get a Rank (A,B,C,D,E) A is the best E is the worst, your rank depends on how many rings you get, your score, time and how many enemies you destroyed. The thing that is similair about this game is that the coins are still rings and when you restart you will lose a life, but the gamplay is great and the graphics ( they look similair to Sonic adventure on Dreamcast). This game also features the return of Metal Sonic, it doesn't take much practice once you get use to the buttons I got an A ( Really)! Sonic Heroes is in stores now.

Roots or Revolutionize? Sonic Team, you have to pick one.

All the Genesis Sonic titles gave us great Sonic games in Sonic worlds. Then there was Sonic Adventure, which was a great Sonic game in an un-Sonic world. Then came Sonic Adventure 2, an un-Sonic game in an un-Sonic world. Now we're up to Sonic Heroes, an un-Sonic game in a Sonic world.

Progress? You decide.

Sonic Heroes showcases levels with checkerboard hills, floating dice platforms, and large frogs that summon rain and change the level. Plus the stages are no longer confined to look like they could exist in the real world. They've even subtly brought back Sonic 2's Act 1/Act 2/Boss system. It looks like an unbeatable premise.

But then we're supposed to enjoy a brand new "team" gameplay, which didn't translate too well from the developers' heads to software. Sure, it seems perfect at first-three formations, each with a character of the team at the lead. In the main team, Sonic's speed formation gives us classic Sonic speed, Knuckles' Power formation is great for taking out (most) enemies in one swift attack, and flying? Yes, you can finally fly as Tails again.

Heck, you have it all. And that's where Sonic Heroes' problems begin.

You have all those skills at your disposal. Now there aren't any tests of dealing with the weaknesses of the character you chose. It used to be when you played as Sonic, and approached a large gap, you'd think, "Well, Sonic can't fly. I guess I've got to figure out a way to get across in a more creative fashion." Now, Sonic can just get an airlift from Tails by switching to fly formation. The question isn't "How do I do this?" anymore, it's "Who do I do this with?". And as if choosing between three characters was too hard, Sonic Team has eliminated that "challenge" by labeling each obstacle with the appropriate formation and providing excessive hints.

And yet, somehow, each formation is lacking as well. In order to give Power formation some equal ground, Sonic can no longer take out enemies with one hit, which slows things down. Fly formation is forced across abnormally large chasms, which is even harder because instead of just having to land yourself on a platform, you have to land the whole team, arranged vertically. You'd think since Knuckles is a Power leader, the Power formation would feature elements of what made Knuckles such a great character: gliding and climbing. But the gliding is lackluster, while climbing is missing altogether.

As far as the gameplay's shortcomings go, that's just a sample. But I value your time, so I'll move on.

For once, I felt the sting of Sonic Team's faulty camera. Every frustration is amplified by the fact the camera is seldom pointing in the right direction. Landing on platforms without depth perception, attacking enemies behind you that the camera won't turn to face, and running backwards because you missed something... Just a sample of the problems the camera causes.

Leveling up the characters may not have been a bad idea, but when you lose a life, you go back to a checkpoint, at level 0 for everyone. This is a problem, because suddenly, you're in rough territory without the skills you went in (and failed in the first place) with. I'm used to learning from mistakes in Sonic games. Now, I'm punished for them.

This punishment is all the worse because Sonic Team made the huge mistake of implementing a hit-point system for the robots. At first it's only slightly obnoxious, and you periodically get Team Blasts, which destroy all enemies on screen, but feels cheap and unnecessary. But as you progress, those little enemies have more health, shields, hammers, and armor impenetrable to anyone but the Power leader... They start to feel more like mini-bosses, while the still-cheap Team Blast has become a crutch.

Sonic Heroes has three kinds of bosses: Eggman, robots, and fights against the other teams. Unlike the classic games, where there's a clever trick to attack Eggman, his machines now rarely involve anything more intelligent than just attacking forward. Robot bosses consist of waves of enemies storming you, which quickly becomes monotonous, yet unfair and flat out frustrating. And like every playable-character boss up to this point, the team bosses are principally button-mashing.

Now, was it a good idea to put special stages in Sonic Heroes? Oh, dear Heavens, yes. Were the special stages themselves good ideas? No. Sonic Team felt the need to make them near impossible to beat, which wasn't necessary seeing as how it was already made difficult by the near-impossibility of actually getting to the special stage, plus all the glitches within the stage they were too lazy to iron out.

Some of the lyrical music comes from former Top 40 acts, but there seems to be no correlation between the success of the artist and the quality of the song. Some of the lyrics are perfect, but some are just so horrible you can't even hear the music behind them. Which is a shame, because the six vocal tracks are really the only ones with music worth listening to; the level music features flat riffs without melodies.

On a whole, the game oscillates between "so easy it's boring" and "so hard it's frustrating". One of the most enjoyable parts is the set of jungle levels, which features just the right about of speed, creativity and, finally, the grinding is dealt with in a reasonable manner. The game has plenty of other good points, but not without yawns from your mouth and veins from your forehead in between.

Sonic Team's main problem is they can't seem to make up their mind if they want to take their Sonic series back to its roots or to revolutionize it with new ideas. Maybe they'd be able to start putting out great Sonic games in Sonic worlds again, if they'd just realize their roots themselves are a revolution all their own.

Great Game!

I have played the game on the Demo Disk that came with Mario Kart and it's really fun! There are four teams, Team Sonic, with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Also, there's Team Amy with Amy, Big the cat, and Creme the Rabbit, which has been in Sonic Advance 2. The is also Team Dark with Rogue, A new robot character, and Shadow (How he survived the events at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 still remains a mystery i guess), and there is team Chatoix with a aligator, a bumble bee, and a chameleon.
This has solid gameplay, and stay true to the platforming and the high-speed action that Sonic fans have come to love. Each Team member has a special purpose, like Sonic is there to get you past the sections where you need speed, Tails is there when you need to fly to a new height, and Knuckles is there if you need to break an obstacle.
The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is because it is out for the XBOX AND PLAYSTATION!!! Why!!!!!??? Playstation and xbox are so stupid. They have to steal good games and they will take a good game like that down with them. I don't mind that much about ps2, but xbox is just giving it a bad name. They have no good games, so they finally see one thats good and they take it.
Anyways, buy this game if you are a Sonic fan, a fan of platformers, or if you just want to have a lot of fun.

THE BEST SONIC GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is better than any classic Sonic game, or even the Adventure games! I loved those too, but this is the ultimate! You get to play as 4 teams with some of your favorite carachters. The teams are: Team Sonic (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles)(DUH!), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, Omega), Team Rose (Amy, Cream, Big), and Team Chaotix (Espio, Charmy, Vector)... I beat the whole game with all 4 teams, and the last story too!! I dont wanna spoil any last story info, to those who havent beat it. Im gonna tell the storylines of the 4 teams story modes...

Team Sonic: While Sonic races around the rocks in the mountains, Tails and Knuckles come back and give Sonic an evil letter from Eggman. Eggman: MUHAHAHAHA!! Guess what, Sonic Heroes?! Ive finally devoloped the ultimate weapon and will conquer the world in 3 days! Think you can stop me!? MUHAHAHAHA!! Oh, that dumb robot, he always thinks he can really destroy Sonic. Back to the story. Then, Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles speed off to find Eggman.

Team Dark: Rouge breaks into Eggman's base to find his secret treasure. But, suddenly in this room, she finds Shadow, only to find out that he has amneisa! What also happens is Rouge accidently frees E-123 Omega, the most powerful E-Series robot. Omega: Must eraticate all Eggman's robots! Eggman just sealed him away, and didnt pay any attention to him. Eggman! OK, then, Rouge, Shadow, and Omega join forces to look for Eggman, and to try to get Shadow's memory back.

Team Rose: It's a lovely day... Amy reads the newspaper, and finds Sonic, Froggy, and Chacola. Chacola is Cheese The Chao's brother. And, yall know Froggy, hes Big's pet and buddy. Suddenly, the newspaper and Cream get blown by the wind. Big catches Cream with his fishing rod... Cream & Big look in the newspaper too, and are sad to find Chacola and Froggy missing. So, they set off to find Froggy, Chacola, and Sonic...

Team Chaotix: This is their second appearence. They were orignally with Knuckles in a game called Knuckles Chaotix. Ok... It's a lazy day in the Chaotix Dective Agency's place, until Charmy comes in and finds a delivery. When they open it, a radio with a strange voice is tellin them that he can pay them handsomly. Charmy & Vector just are delighted and have cash in their eyes! LOL! Espio has a bad feeling about it. Vector: Espio, dont be silly! You know our policy, we never turn down work that pays. Charmy: Yeah, you know our policy! So, they head off to get their rewards. Im not spoiling who the clinet really is.

OK, that was it, everyone. Peace.

P.S. Buy this game if you have a Gamecube, XBOX, or PS2 ASAP!

If the previous Sonic games for the newer "Next-Gen" systems have not met your expectations, prepare to be surprised! Unlike the tedious, and outright boring treasure-hunting fun fun that has been seen in other games (R.I.P. SA2) Heroes will get you right up out of your seat and have you addicted to the fast action of the 2D console days.

The game features a team playing mode which expands the amount of things you can do in levels, as well as expands your logic and firepower. There are three main teams (Sonic, Dark, and Rose) which contribute to the story. Aside form them there is also a team by the name of Chaotix form the not-so-popular game for the 32x. This team is completely different from the others to add more replay value to the game.

The controls are very good, and the music fits as well. I cannot say that everyone will like the main songs, but if you were a fan of the previous game music then you'll like this all the same.

The gameplay has also changed (rather reverted) to the fast pace action we see in the classic games that made Sonic a household name. I hope that this review has better explained the game for you and I ask that you complete the game before talking bad about it. If there's even anything bad about it! -Stealth Shadow

Sonic the Hedgehog should stay in 2D

This game was an improvement over the awful Sonic Adventure 2, but no by much. It has the potential to be more fun but is still crippled by horrible gameplay and bad camera problems. The switching between 3 characters, who each have 3 different abilities, became very annoying and the levels were all too alike and just seemed to be vaguely recycled levels of the 2 previous games.

As much as I liked the original Sonic Adventure I have to say that Sonic in 3D just doesn't work and doesn't feel right. The original Sonic platformers, plus the new Sonic Advance games are what the blue hedgehog is all about and it's worth investing your time in them if you're a serious Sonic Fan. Leave stuff like this game to the kiddies.

A New Sonic Game At Last!

This truly is a fun game. It will take a little while for you to get used to the controls, but once you've played it a couple times it'll make sense. I have found that the camera gets very annoying once you try to adjust it. That, however can be altered by switching characters. Also, Sonic Team has certain points set in the game that automatically changes the "lead" character for you. this can slow you down a lot in the game. Also, when you play as Knuckles, you have the puch ability, but there are areas in the game where you must play as Knuckles where his attack can be rather difficult to opereate. In other words, in points that you are meant to go fast, you go insanely slow. All this is relative i might add, but it will still tick you off. I love Sonic and I love these games, but it really makes me angry when Sonic Team REFUSES to learn from their mistakes. Sonic Adventure was plagued by a horrible camera, and SA2, SA2B, and SADX all had the same problem. If something doesnt work the first time, it ain't gonna work the next. But seeing as how I've played this game, I can tell you that I'm gonna buy it. The pros outweigh the cons. I only wrote that stuff so you wpnt be to suprised/angry when you play it yourself as I have done so so many times.
