This is the best game sence they came out with Mario! I could waste away playing this game. Let me go over all the charaters: Dr. Eggmen, (not robotnick!)Sonic of course, Shadow, Tails, Nucles, and Rouge. It is fun even when you get stuck. There is the same storyline no matter what side your are playing on (evil or good). but you have to beat the kart level on both sides, and then the vs. mode will be unlocked. Sonic and Shadow have Sonic's old powers from Sega Gensis. Nucles and Rouge can glide. And finally Tails and Dr. Eggmen have Mechs. And they all can get up grades, but I'm not going to tell you what they are!

Given how polished Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is, it surprises me that Sega didn't put more work into the Gamecube release of the original Sonic Adventure. Sonic 2 sports fast, furious levels with Sonic and Shadow, with plenty of secrets and alternate paths.

Sonic and Shadow steal the show, but you can also play as Tails and Eggman (both in big robots,) or as Rouge and Knuckles (who have treasure-finding missions.) The Tails and Eggman missions offer some amusement, although are nowhere near as fun as the Sonic and Shadow levels. The Rouge and Knuckles levels, however, are extraneous and tedious.

Still, great fun for everybody in the family.

The very fabric of the space-time continuum may be in jeopardy. Einstein's theories are now being put to test. Will the universe survive this parodox?

The implosion of the Soviet Union was predictable, but who could have seen this coming?

Sonic is now in the land of those "Italian plumber guys".

Having played Sonic since the 2D scroller days of the Genesis, I'm happy to see Sonic continue in any land.

This is something that will cause unrest and perhaps deflocking, however it is my Sonic denomination:

SONIC ADVENTURE 2 (Dreamcast) was the BEST Sonic game that I played

---- until ----

I recently picked up a Gamecube for $99 and a copy of SONIC ADVENTURE 2: BATTLE (Gamecube)

After playing Stage 1 (Escape from the military pursuit), I had to play this game again on my DC to ensure that I was seeing small additions -- extra sequences in animation, better camera control (still not 'perfect', but better than it was), and the increased SPEED.

My main complaint for the GC version, as was for the DC, is that Sonic should've been used in more levels.

Still, its very cool to see an old favorite again!

LOVE THE MUSIC!!!!

I am not now nor have I ever been a gamer. I bought this game for my kids to play and it seems to be they're game of choice, every time. My only affinity to this game is the music -- it rocks!!! It has every kind of sound from Pop/Rock to Trip/Hop. There's even an Acid Jazz mix it there. If Sega had soundtrack to this game I would definitely buy it (listening Sega...)

Fast-Paced Supersonic Action!

This game is *fast*. And then it's slow. And then it's blazing. I like it a lot, but the new features aren't quite all they're cracked up to be.

As an old-school Sonic The Hedgehog fan (I had all of them on the Genesis), I was very happy to see SA2B released on the Nintendo Gamecube. I was a little concerned, though, as Sonic on Nintendo hardware *was* predicted as a sign of the apocalypse by Nostradamus. But the world hasn't ended yet, so I think we'll be alright.

The gameplay is somewhat mixed. This is because there are three different kinds of levels: "Sonic" levels, where you race through various 3D worlds trying to get to the end as fast as possible, "Tails" levels where you run around in a mecha-suit blasting enemies and trying to get as many points as possible, and "Knuckles" levels where you have to run, climb, and fly around 3D levels searching for randomly hidden Chaos Emerald fragments as quickly as possible. I found the "Sonic" levels to be the most fun -- the "Tails" levels tended to drag at points, and the "Knuckles" levels vary in difficulty drastically depending on where the emeralds are hidden each time. You have a sort of "hot/cold" detector to help find them, but something that at least gave *some* hint of a direction to go in would have made these levels much less painful. As you progress through the game, you can also unlock extra abilities for each character, which will let them go back to the earlier levels and find hidden items and areas that you couldn't reach before.

There are actually two plots, a "Hero" plot where you play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and a "Dark" plot where you play as Shadow (an evil hedgehog), Eggman (Dr. Robotnik's grandson, who has a mech like Tails'), and Rouge (a bat with abilities much like Knuckles'). After you beat both games, there's a final set of levels where both teams have to work together to save the world, culminating in a final boss battle featuring... well, I won't spoil it.

The "Chao" feature allows you to raise cute little tamagotchi-like creatures between levels. By feeding them various powerup items you collect by destroying enemies (and which are also hidden around the levels, see above), you can make them grow into various forms. I didn't find this particularly compelling, but you can do all sorts of things with them, including entering the critters you raise into a series of races and competitions, and breeding multiple generations of them in the hopes of, uh, getting an even better little virtual fuzzball, I guess. This also interacts with the Sonic games on the GBA, but as I don't have a GBA, I can't comment on that.

The multiplayer I found to be not very fun at all. You can play several of the game's levels against each other, and you can also play a kart racing minigame. If you have friends who are big fans of the game, you might get further than I did.

Basically, SA2B is a fun, colorful, fast-paced game that's not too difficult, and probably great for kids -- the plot is pretty simple, and the dialogue couldn't be any cheesier. But it's still a blast.

its pretty good

I would say that this game is a medium game
The graphics are pretty good, and the gameplay is pretty good, but the sound is annoying and the backround music is just dumb.
i liked the idea of the chao things, and the multiplayer setup is fairly neat too, but some of the levels may be to difficult for beginners. Also, the attacks in multiplayer could have used some more work, and the way that they were the same for all the charecters is annoying.
Otherwise i would reccomend this game to somebody who wants to pass the time and have fun, rather than play for hours and try to beat it constantly, then it will just get on ur nerves.

The best game ever!!!!!!

This is Sonic's first appearance on gamecube. An excellent feature is that you can play on the hero side or the dark side.
When you play as heroes you can be Knuckles the Echidna,Tails the Fox, or Sonic the Hedgehog. As the dark side you play with Rouge the bat,Dr.Eggman, or Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic's and Shadow's levels are running levels, Tails' and Eggman's levels are shooting games, and Rouge's and Knuckles' levels are (except for their last level, Cannon's Core)treasure hunting levels. When you finish both the hero side and the dark side you can play the last level complete with two bosses. In the last level everyone teams up.You can also raise creatures called chao which aren't really that hard to take care for. They are like pets and will keep you entertained after you beat the game. You can even make them look like sonic(nuetrel/running/running) or shadow(dark/running/running)!!And these chao can be transported to sonic advance or sonic advance 2 to get stronger. This is a must to get.

a new hero a new game with a hedghog?? and its fun???

i've been into sonic games for ages, owning all of them i no of. This game was different to the others. but was a great change. Though it lacks the hyper sonic ability, it is still a great play. Being able to use all the characters is a great improvement too, showing both sides of the game.
