This game is definitely something you should buy if you own a GameCube. It is lots of fun and you can't stop playing it. The Chao are also very cute and playful. I would recommend this game to everyone!

I've played some good games but this one tops 'em all.First of all, the graphics look almost real! This feature is most likable when whatching movie clips. Then there's the voices. This game is one of the few to have voices for the charecters. Then there's the gameplay. I also like this game because the bosses are actually hard. It took me ten times to defeat the second boss of Hero mode! You see there are two story modes : Hero mode and Dark mode. To know the whole story you must play both. I could go on and on, but my point is Sonic Adventure 2 BATTLE is a very good game, enough said.

I'll admit, this isn't for everyone. Some Sonic veterans will cry foul that it differs in theme from the SEGA Genesis games. I've read some of the reviews here, and it seems that there are complaints about the voices, certain levels, and the difficulty of the game itself. Here are some tips to see if this is for you:

First off, the gameplay. You have two choices depending on the story. Play with the good guys (Sonic, Tails, Knux) or the evil ones. (Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the bat, Eggman Robotnik) One thing I've noticed, people are complaining about the name Eggman. If you've seen the Sonic Anime Movie, you'll know that it has been Eggman for awhile. I don't even know which one is more real, but it's silly to complain. Now, depending on what side you play on, more and more of the story will be revealed. The stories are intertwined. The story itself is simple enough, but don't think there aren't twists. By the time you get to then end, there will be surprises, and maybe a few shocks! You'll like it if you become an obsessive Shadow fan.

The levels include running levels with Sonic and Shadow, shooting levels with Eggman and Tails, and searching levels with Rouge and Khnuckles. The counterparts of each character have the same powers, but find power ups to get the advantage for a fight. Extra tools and abilities are everywhere. The Knuckles and Rouge levels are tedious, but not pointless. Even in the Genesis games, a certain amount of thought and time were needed. Not everything can be speed, speed, speed, or the game would be too fast and pointless. Personally, I find those levels convinient, because it's nearly impossible to die in them.

Now, about the story and dialogue... One suggestion: Japanese with subtitles! The english version makes my ears bleed, but as an anime fan, I'm used to getting around it. This game was made for it's original seiyuu, so take advantage of it and do some reading. I promise. It's okay. Be aware however, that the subtitles follow the english dialogue and are not a perfect (or very good) translation of what they are saying in Japanese.

Now for the replay value. You've played the game. Gotten D's on every level. Beat it anyway. Pretty easy, huh? No way. Each level has five missions and a chance to improve your game. It's tedious and not very easy, but if you're looking for more to do, than do it! Along with the game, there is a lot of influence on raising Chao. Chao are cute little critters that you can take care of, like a 3d virtual pet. They grow and depending on if they are good or evil, they get they're own garden when they evolve. (Personally, I think it's funny to see Shadow taking such good care of his evil little Chao. Any character can raise 'em!)

Now for the 2 player stuff! It's fun. There are about five different ways to play. You can play with the hedgehog group to race your friends in the running levels. You can shoot your friends to the ground with the shooting group, and you can challenge your friends to find more emeralds than you. Depending on how far you get in the game, you can also race in cart races as every character. (Some you must unlock) If you have multiple memory cartds, you can also race Chao. Cute, huh? It's completely unrelated to the story, but it's a fun addition that takes 2 player actions to new levels.

Lastly, the graphics. Nothing special. Same as the Dreamcast version. It's worth it if you've never played, but having both versions would be overkill. Not that much has changed. So, if you like what you see, it's a really great game, and I'm still trying to beat that dang biolizard.

I have always loved sonic since i first picked up a genisis controler and had never seen sonic out of that 2-d mode until now. the graphics are great ecpechily city escape. the only thing about it was there was not enough sonic and shadow. the next sonic adveture should have lots of sonic and shadow on the hero side (I don't think he died). I also think they should have individual story lines for each chariter like in the first sonic adventure. any way this is a great game and i highly recomend it.

I bought the game on Dreamcast, but I decided to get it on GCN as well, and the GCN version is much better.

The only con is the voices, but you can change those to japanese via the options menu (and a good laugh too).

It is an excellent game for both sonic veterans (like myself) and adventure game lovers (also like myself). It can be a very tricky game. It is very high paced. The replay value never runs out. (Ive beaten it... 17 times? and it's still a great game).

The chao raising is a great feature of the game. If you've been reading other reviews, I'm sure you know what a chao is, so I'm not going to waste my time telling you.

A great game, it's a must add to your GCN collection.

The best

When I found this out I said "I'm going to get this game for gamecube if it's the last thing I do." I beat the first version for dreamcast and it's superb. If number 1 is great, of course number 2 is better. (also better graphics since it's for the "cube".) The best part is that it has 2 player action!(Now my sister won't kick me anymore) Can't wait untill it's out.

Best Game EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K., this is the best game. Not only is there a lot to do, but it's hard. Why would a hard game be fun? Because it doesn't take two days to finish like Batman. I just got it today, so I'm not real sure on the Chao part. But it's so much fun. The destroying the world is pretty hard, but the saving it isn't as hard. But it's still hard. This is a must have for all GameCube owners, and future GameCube owners.
