Finally, Sonic is on Nintendo!

Alright. I am going to make this quick for you people. This game is incredible. I agree with everyone about the camera, but I was able to work my way around it. The game has a short story line, so don't get it if you want a long day beating the basics.
The control is good (actually, it's just remembering 2 buttons.) There are tons of secrets, so if you want to unlock everything, be ready for a LONG haul. Overall, if you own a Gamecube, get this.

Some good parts

I found Sonic's first few levels to be a lot of fun. Basically, I would just like to be Sonic and run around large places with complete freedom.
As for every other character's levels, I did not like them. The shooting levels are kind of boring, and the searching levels are really boring and tedious. The 5-minute level with that nasty bat character is so annoying that I've never been able to beat it; I can only find two Emeralds within the time limit and I don't like to keep trying that level since I don't think it's fun at all. And if it's not fun, why should I do it? It is a game, after all.
I don't like Rouge the Bat because she looks really slutty. (I don't mean to sound vulgar, but it's true. Just look at her. ...But not for too long, or parents won't let their kids play the game. Actually, that might not be such a bad thing. The Archie comic adaptation of the game had to "flatten" her out, if you know what I mean.) That moment between her and Knuckles was creepy. Knuckles has Julie-Su, thank you very much! (Read the Archie comic or Knuckle's own canceled series if you don't know what I'm talking about.)
I appreciate the Japanese language and text feature, and that Eggman is being called Eggman, instead of Robotnik. If this comment sounds a little late, it's because I hardly played Sonic Adventure 1 at all. (I don't have a Dreamcast and buying one now would be kind of pointless. If Gamecube would get SA1, I would buy it.)
Did I mention that I hate that Rouge in prison level?
The game claims to have some 150 missions, which is a deceptive way of saying that it's really only got 30 levels, and only about 3 of those levels are fun.
Still, I can not completely dis this game. The three good levels are really fun, and every now and then, I go back and play them. Like in the last game, I'm glad that Sonic doesn't have to go to special stages to try to get Chaos Emeralds. That always annoyed me.

Alright! A Sonic game for Nintendo! wait a minute...

Sonic the Hedgehog. He's awesome. But enough about that. This is a pretty good game, but mainly for it's nostalgic value (for me anyway) One thing to know: If you really liked the Sega Genesis games, you're really going to be dissapointed in this. Playing as Sonic is always fun, but there are hardly any familiar enemies. Come to think of it, there are hardly any enemies! And there are hardly any rings! And there's not a lot of Dr Robotnik! And for crying out loud, why do they call him Eggman!? That is just bizarre. It's a very very different game from the 2D sidescrollers i once knew. If the go nowhere, racetrack style levels and lack of enemies dont get you, the fact that you have to play as Tails and Knuckles will. Personally, i'd rather have the classic-style Sonic game for the Game Boy Advance.

A Little Repetetive, but Still Cool

Although the game can get quite repetative some times, I find it facinating. The greatest thing about the game is the Chao... ok, so they don't do too much, and their games are downright boring (what, you sit there and watch, every great once in a while press the A button...), developing them, ans seeing the differet variations you can come up with is quite cool. I especially like putting the skull on a Chao, the little "RAR!" noise they make is hilarious.

Solid gameplay and great graphics make this game good as well, although, like I said, it can get quite repetative, but that is why there are the 2 player battles, the cart races, and the Chao, it gives you something to do when you get sick of running in circles.

Preeeetty darn good... despite what others may say.

Sonic Adventure 2 is unlike anything I've ever played. Get it for the exploration, or get it for the rush of Sonic and Shadow's unimaginable speed. Either way, get it.

City Escape is the first level you play in Hero side of the game as Sonic. This level alone makes the entire game worthwhile. I noticed today that I've played that level over 50 times, while I've played most Tails/Robotnick Knuckles/Rouge levels 1 time. It's just the core definition of "fun."

Unfortunately, not all levels are like that. With Knuckles/Rouge, you're thrown into worlds where you must find 3 pieces of the Chaos emerald. It's tedious many times... the rush from the Sonic/Shadow levels is no where to be seen in these levels. They're fun... if only mildly.

But then you've got Tails/Robotnick. These levels are straightforward: shoot everything. There's some fun elements to that, but it's a little repetetive.

Wait, wait, wait! With all this negative talk, why on earth did I give it 4 out of 5 stars and not something lower? Because, there's so much replay value to this game, it never gets old. Get all 150 emblems (which I have yet to do), and something very... very cool will happen, that will make oldschool Sonic fans (much like myself) very very happy. And not to mention Chaos... like Tamogatchis (c'mon, who DOESN'T know what those are?). Raising Chao seemed like such a difficult task at first, however my friend showed me how to get started, and it's quite easy, and addicting. That's a game in itself.

So Sonic Adventure 2 Battle = lots of time, if you don't have time... get this anyway. It's great... just watch out for those emerald pieces.

Good? yes. The best? Well....

In my 10+ years of playing video games, i have played many Sonic games. While i would like to call this one the best, i just can't. For one thing, the Knuckles and Rouge levels give me a migraine, the shooting levels with Eggman and Tails leave something to be desired, and what exactly is the point of raising Chao? Couldn't Sega add the option of whether or not u want to? While we're on the subject of Sega, it's still hard to grasp a Sonic game on the GameCube. I guess that's because Sega and Nintendo were once competing against each other.

The Sonic and Shadow levels obviously are tight because they're so fast paced, but this game is lacking. However, this game offers what few other games do, the chance to play as heroes, or the bad guys.

If you're a diehard Sonic fan, then go ahead and buy it. If you're not sure, rent it first.

A respectable 4 stars

This game is a pretty well rounded game. If you want to play multiplayer though...this is not the game for you. The multiplayer levels and characters lack. You can only be one of the 4 characters in race mode! The producers must have rushed this game into stock. The best part about the game is the Chaos...and they are a little hard to explain since i can only write 1000 words in this review.lol.

pretty good

Hey, I liked this game alot. Though, I never played other Sonic's before this one, and so I am bound to like this game. But passing over me, the game.
Pretty good. I liked it! The chao are kool (still trying to get an imortal one). Some of the levels were way hard, but you know, whats life without challanges??
It's made for the last level. SO EASY!!!!

Sonic Adventure is a very fun game. Allows you to pick between 2 sides Good and Dark. Very good graphics except for the bad camera angles which may be hard to control. Sometimes gets very frustrating when trying to complete one of the many missions. Best Sonic game I have ever played. Lots of Mini-Games such as Chao's, Chao Racing, and Chao Karate. Also many 2 player games such as Races, Treasure Hunts, Shooting, 2 Player Chao Races, 2 Player Chao Karate, and Cart Racing. Tons of secrets but I can't tell you what they are. Overall a very fun game which will keep you hooked.
