Loosing Faith in Nintendo

I can't believe how incredibly lame the majority of Gamecube games are, thus far released. I bought Sonic 2 hoping that it would renew my faith, instead what I got was something that no one over the age of 15, at the most, could possibly get into. Not only is this game boring and repetetive but it has the most annoying music for almost any game I have ever heard. Within 4 hours of first putting it into my system I had regretted the purchase and no matter how hard I tried I could not force myself to find even one redeeming quality about the game.
Even the 2 player mode at first was enjoyable but also quickly became monotonous and dull. If not for Smash Bros and Rogue Leader I would consider the Gamecube a complete loss. I am a pretty old school nintendo fan but if their game makers can't get past this phase of making mostly games that only small children could remain interested in, then I must move on to greener video game pastures.
My recommendation is to first rent the game, unless it is intended for someone pretty young.

Let's get one thing straight: I haven't played this game. But I want to! I WANT TO!!! But it's only released on a console that died ages ago (Dreamcast) and this... little thing (GameCube). I'm a PS2 gamer and buying a GC would wreck my pride! But it's so unfair!!! While GC gets all the big games like Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Sonic Mega Collection, us PS2 gamers get only the decent-but-multiplatform Sonic Heroes, the awful Shadow The Hedgehog and a toned down Mega Collection. I can't stand this!!! Why wasn't it released for PS2? Why SEGA? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???

We've all seen Sonic it's been around for soooo long.
Why can't you just let this lame story line go.
Its the same Sonic game over and over again.
But, I must say, because game cube IS the best platform this game must not he horrible, just not original.
And thats why its good but not Great.
Rent it first...

The camera in this game is VERY frustrating at times, control is very limited and sometimes walls get between you and your character making it impossible to see, this is a major problem when playing as knuckles while hunting for the emerald shards. Other then that the graphics are beautiful and sonic is faster then ever. It is a fun game, but the camera is so horrible I reccomend renting it first to see if you can put up with it. Also I wish there was an option to just turn off the backround music, its bad. Sounds like Crazy Taxi rejects or something.
Not that great.... : (

I was hoping for a lot more than this when I first heard about Sonic making its way to the GC. But, in realization this game could have been done a lot better. The game offers intersting gameplay, the choice between hero and dark, but the disparity lies in the unbelievable easiness of this game. Despite the fact that Sonics and Shadows levels are obviously the best and most challenging, the rest of the game is either tedious (scavenger hunts) or just too simple. I was alos expecting a lot more improvement over the Dreamcast predecessor. Albeit does look a tad more sharp, the graphics still don't live up to what Sega is capable of prdoucing. Along with other camera issues and less then stellar sound, I still give this game three stars because it will satisfy the Sonic afficianados out there to a certain extent. But, if you have allready played this for the DC then this port really offers nothing new.
To be a Sonic fan...

That truely is the only way to be a big fan of this game. The game-play, in short is just plain lack'n. The Sonic games for Genisis and Gamegear had more replay value than this. The multiplayer isn't even that good. RENT THIS ONE FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY! If you're a Sonic fan, I'm sure there's something here for you... enjoy.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is not happening! I did not like this game much! We all know Sonic for his speed, right? I could clearly see that he would go to a certain speed and jsut not go any faster. The powerups were fun in the Sega games, but not now.
New characters sound interesting and that is all. Shadow suffers the same speed problem. At times, you will feel more like you are watching. Eggman and Tails are not that interesting; they need a first person view mode. Knuckles and Rouge are too hard to enjoy.
The music sounds good at first, but them your mom will compliment it.
The levels do not even look that good. You really are forced to go one way.It is "totally" linear. They are even recyled among characters.
I did enjoy rising choas. And really abusing them. After about three weeks, you will lose taste for it.
You like Sonic? Buy it. The rest of us are playing Mega Collection.
