In a phrase - it blows!!! Actually if it did that well I would consider giving it more stars.
First of all I haven't run into any bugs, yet. I'm pretty sure I won't either - BECAUSE I WON'T PLAY IT AGAIN.
Listen, with all the cool technology out there today that enables the player to enjoy full range of motion, excellent graphics and exciting gameplay this one is definitely a step back for the industry. What a joke!
Look I know it is an RPG but you can have the best of both worlds and the result would be a much more immersive, fun experience. This is like watching a mundane movie that just happens to have a mouse connected to it which lets you navigate the whole boring experience. Yippeee!!! I'd rather watch golf ( and I hate golf! ).
Save your money for a better game. They are out there believe me!

This is one of the best games I have ever played. Seriously. The story is really captivating, the characters (besides the anonnying Carth) are deep and interesting. Diverse characters join and fight your party as you traverse the planets, in any order you choose. Your ultimate goal is to destroy Darth Malak, but what ending you receive is based on how you acted during the game. Good or Evil. Good Response to a person in need: "Sure I'll help find your daughter.
Neutral: "I don't have time to help."
Evil: "I will kill your daughter when I find her, and kill you afterwards."
So choose wisely. You can even create your own character, decide their class etc. In short, buy this game!!

Simply the most immersive, visually thrilling, action packed game I have ever played. Compares favorably with the all time greats such as Baldur's Gate, BG2 and Planescape:Torment. Much better than the Jedi Knight series of games due to the RPG approach rather than FPS approach.
Buy this game.
Better than those STUPID PREQUEL movies !

PROS :
1.Great graphics and sound (BETTER than Rogue Squadron 3 for gamecube )
2.Interesting storyline.
3.Option to choose your path towards the Dark side or Light side !
4.Customizable character.
5.Replay value.
6.Side quests & missions.
7.User Friendly
Cons :
1.Greater customization would have been good ( ex.You can wear Dark jedi knight and master clothing, but they look different on your character than on the NPCs. It would have been great if your character's clothing could be more like what the apprentices or what Darth Maul wore on Tatooine-Ep 1 / you get to wear Mandalorian armor but without the Fett Helmet which kind of sucks -though the assault armor is cool.)
2.I wish the game was longer with more planets and side missions.

What can I say, didn't use to be a fan of the star wars series, only mild interest. But got the itch after seeing episode 3 to try this game I just saw advertised in Computer Gaming World. Now I plan on reading the series to get the whole story line to better understand what is discussed in the game (and the movies).
The game is magnificant with a high replayability. You can play good (light side) one way, bad (dark side) another way, then you can try it as male or female characters, different classes. Well, theres just alot that you can try on it. With a witty script its even worth reading through the plots and watching the cutscenes.
My favorite aspect of the game is the ability to upgrade items with different pieces which can be made by the different party members depending on their skill in certain areas.

This game is the best game I've ever played (and I've played lots).
The story, the game mechanics, the atmosphere, the dialogue, the RPG aspects all combine to deliver a game that sets the standard for all other RPGs to follow.
This is the first title that, upon completing it, I immediately started a new game.
DO NOT BUY!!! (if you don't have a strong computer)

I have been waiting for this game for a year and a half, and I finally got it the other day. I installed it, installed the patch, and when I tried to launch it I was unsuccessful. The computer would try for a while and then it would just return to desktop or freeze. When I manage to launch the game I cannot get passed the main menu. I click on "NEW GAME" and the computer just freezes up. My configuration exceeds the minimum requirements by far, thus I was hugely frustrated by this. Then I dived into troubleshooting guidance. Along with the game you get a 22 page Word file dealing with problems, which is very ominous indication. Did not help. I turned to the Internet and found out that those 22 pages cover a small portion of problems people are experiencing. I wrote to the official support sites, and received no reply, which is no wonder. I guess the developers and publishers would have to hire a lot more people just to be able to respond to all complaints. A game with so many issues should have never reached the shelves. Now, I only wish I could ask myself if it was worth the trouble, but I can't since it was not. It took me a lot of restraint just to keep my language civil in writing this "review". Spare yourself from this nerve wrecking and stick to Morrowind. One star awarded, but it's the Death Star.
After installing Windows XP Service Pack, newest sound and graphic card drivers, and with the previously installed Patch I managed to start the game, and it runs pretty smoothly now. It is really a great game. Combat, story, and sound are excellent, although I think they went through too much trouble making sure that every character has their own voice over and lip sync. The graphics are decent, but I hate the fact that many unimportant NPCs look exactly the same, but this is bitching. My true objection is against the lack of freedom. I am not blood thirsty, but I would like to be able to attack anyone I choose (you only get combat options when someone hostile to you appears), and to go anywhere I want (I guess Morrowind really spoiled me). Environment could be more interactive too. All that aside this game is incredibly infectious, and I find myself loosing track of time while playing. My wife came to fetch me and get me to stop playing at 2 AM last night, and that hadn't happened for a long time (not even with Morrowind). Dialogues are occasionally very funny. I love it when they make fun of Bastila for loosing her light sword and getting captured. Choice between the dark and light is one of the best features.
Conclusion: Make sure you have the recommended (not minimum) computer configuration, newest drivers, and patched OS, and you can enjoy this game. If not, just forget about it and heed the title of this review. I am switching to 4 stars now.

Long awaited for the PC, released last november, this game is easily one of the best games ever. Not only it sets you in the Star Wars world, some thousand years before the movies, it actually makes you feel like a true Jedi.
After selecting your character among many options like male or female humans or aliens, you kick off on board a ship that lets your learn how to play the game via intuitve, in-game tutorials. You hardly need the manual.
From there, it is non-stop action and fun all the way. Visit exotic locales as Tatooine, Korriban, Dantooine and Kashyyyk. In your travels, you will have to confront many, many quests that eventually lead you to a final and climatic ending
In the course of the game you are given many choices which will let you choose the dark or light path of the Jedi. With you, ther will travel many character from Jedi to Soldiers to Triger- happy droids. All this makes for a good laguh or two.
Now, techncally speaking, this is a very demanding game for PC. You must have at least 2gb free space for installation - 3 disks, no less - a strong video card, and a fast processor. Sound is very good, with music from the original movies plus a new score. All the effects are taken directly from the movies, as you can hear the blaster fire and lightsabe wooosh. Graphics are very cool, and even at the lowest setting, they look great.
In all, a game with a lot of replay value and the promise of many hours of great fun!

Knights of the Old Republic is an amazing game in everyway. Its a fun RPG but its a lame turn based one. The storyline is great and has lots of replay value. Any star wars fan must have this game.
