My review is biased since I'm not a regular RPG gamer. Full disclosure means I have to say I prefer Real and Turn Based Strategy as well as most First Person Shooters.
That said, I have enjoyed Role Playing Games - most notably Planescape: Torment. I was about half-way through Knights and I simply got bored. The story was not compelling and the difference in Light and Dark just didn't seem to really factor in to the gameplay.
Now, I did start to enjoy that android around mid-game that referred to all humans as "Organic Meat-bags" but it was too little too late. The gameplay just didn't suck me in.
Now - fans of the movie (I always preferred Star Trek to Star Wars) and RPG fans will probably love this game - so buy it - enjoy it and get ready for the expansion pack which is promised to be out in the next month or so.
Cons?; up to you !

I agree with the PRO's stated above.
This game has the feel of: "being part of a good movie".
The UI(... user interface) is the best I've seen.
The combination of RPG/RTS/Turn Based, when coupled with the que/pause to form an attack; brilliant.
So, why the lower rating.
Simply put: "the ending(s)were simplistic/weak and not as thorough as I would have liked".
Consider all the dialogue options; the character relationship possibilities ... some dialogue/characters just seemed to "dry up" ... then you get to the end and, well, I don't want to spoil it for first time players
I expected "much more" of a overall ending scenario based on "my decisions + dialogue options".
The romantic relationship(s) ... well, they go nowhere
I only was able to get involved with one character ... I played male
Yet, both thought I was "the best thing since sliced bread" ?
I basically used the same trio, unless the game required otherwise.
Now, I played it 6 times ... 2-Light; 2-Dark; 2 just going solo(... one each way).
Found it more enjoyable to just forgo the dialogue/ character relationship options.
I simply pumped up my skills with cheats which were equivalent to what my party member would have had.
This way, I had no "ending letdown".
Now, if you don't really care about character followthrough, as it relates to your decisions/dialogue choices and what/how the ending would look like, then it's a 5 star game.
I wanted an ending to match the time I took in developing "my story/decisions/choices"; sadly, I felt cheated.

less fun than reading geneaological accounts in the old testament - that being said, it has a great title name & the picture on the box is groovy...I recommend you just go look at the box, the fun ends there
Ridiculous

It's unbelievable to me that a company would develop a game that won't even run on a PC with a P3, 850 MHz with a graphics accelerator. I've never had a problem running any other game. Now I'm out shipping because I missed this when I ordered it.
Eh...

I read the reviews, and I know KOTOR II is coming out soon, so I wanted to see what all the hubbub was about. I bought a used copy at the local video game store--one that had that fancy "Game of the Year" gold medal on the box. I guess I should have been more wary, because this game just doesn't do it for me. Granted, I have not gotten very far, but I don't really feel like trying to GET any further in this game.
Some background: I have recently been enjoying the First-person shooter type games, enjoying Doom 3, Half-Life 2, and Jedi Academy. Jedi Academy has comparable graphics with what I believe is a much more intuitive interface. I know I am comparing two vastly different types of interfaces, but I have also played my share of RPG's on the computer as well. I grew up playing the old TSR Dungeons and Dragons games like Eye of the Beholder, and the best RPG EVER made, Bane of the Cosmic Forge. Now that was an RPG you could understand right off.
KOTOR's combat system is real-time, yet requires turn-based strategy. This makes for a very confusing experience. It's also frustrating when it almost plays like a first person shooter, in that you have to keep clicking on your target if you want to continue to attack, or if you want to change actions, pause the game and issue new orders. In Bane of the Cosmic Forge, combat was not real-time. If an RPG is to work, it needs to be a true role-player. That is, you must have complete control over your players actions and be able to make decisions when it's your turn, and not lose that turn just because the game rushes you.
The graphics are so-so. This game was released in 2003, so I know I have the benefit of the gorgeous environments Doom and Half Life have brought us more recently. In all, maybe this game was good when it came out, as far as graphics goes. As far as game play and interface, Bane of the Cosmic Forge, which came out around 1992, offered much better control of your character. For those people who claim to be die-hard RPG'ers, I submit that computer RPG's were, and should continue to be, based on real-life RPG's where players have total control and adequate time to make decsions on their characters' actions.
In all, I think I may try to play through to becoming a Jedi and see if the game improves. Otherwise, this is going in my "mistakes" pile, and I'll continue to wait for a good flight sim like tie-fighter to take advantage of today's graphics technology, or for another Jedi Knight Sequel.
great GAME!

This game won't run on many new, standard systems. This compatibility issue should be disclosed much, much better. It's really not a game for people who don't know exactly what graphics card they have and what driver it uses.
Well Okay

I was pretty disapointed with this game because of it's terriible action mode. You don't just get to hit enter or somthing to fire a blaster. There's a whole thing to go through just to shoot once. I wouldn't recomend this game to gamers that are into shooting. It's more of a role playing game.
A Bit Disapointed

I would have enjoyed this game more if I were able to fight. I really liked the Jedi Outcast games, and hoped that this would be the same. The controls were a bit difficult to get used to, and the beginning was stupid in my opinion. Oh well, I see that many people love this game, but I guess I was just not cut out to WATCH my charactor do the fun stuff.
