Don't fall for it!!!

I don't know why they are calling it The Sims Online 2.0 because if you are already playing TSO you DO NOT need this. They are only coming out with this because since the first version came out, some more content has been added making for longer download periods.

While new stuff has been added to the game since its release, all in all, its still the same, boring, mindless chatroom experience dominated mostly by teens or extremely troubled adults
that may act nice in the beginning then turn on you if you dont conform to their ways.

They can keep saying this is a true game until they are blue in the face, because its not a game and never was one.

This is just another scam to get people to buy into what is essentially a pay by the month chatroom with a few game elements thrown in to give the assumption that it is an actual virtual world when the fact remains that its not and never will be.

Take it from a former TSO player who learned the hard way. Save your money and buy something tha gives you a real challenge. You can always chat for free online.

Save your simolean, and look into it later

What can I say, I am a HUGE Sims fan. I have too many simulation games, that is how much of a fan I am. However, I am extremely disappointed with this game. I was hooked, and excited in the beginning. However, the game got very tedious and long, especially building skills up. It is also hard to keep friends and roommates in the game, cause people come and go so often. I am the type of person, that likes to take her time to play a game, and do it at my own pace. The additional cost of the Server access was not pleasing to me. I did take advantage of the free months on the server, but quickly cancelled afterwards. It is just too LOOONNNGGG to build anything up. I do believe it will get better in the end, after the many updates that they have. So, if you wish to really try it out, wait a few months. Or do what I am doing.. sticking with the original game, and all of the expansions.... Buy Unleashed before you buy this...

This game is dying

I joined this game back in November when it was still in beta. It was an exciting place to be. There were so many people playing. Indeed, each house serves mostly as a chat forum. As any longtime chat forum devotee knows, a chat forum is only as good as the people in it. Well, when the final version came out, EA started charging a monthly fee. Many of the users left. Then each month, more left, quicker than the number of people joining. Many houses died with fewer to replace them. That meant fewer people playing. Less excitement. Those of us who were addicts in the early days can only be depressed now. I just canceled my account. I've only logged in a handful of times the past three months. This game is a mere shell of its former self. The "game" gets old pretty quickly. There just aren't enough playing anymore to keep it interesting.

Huge Waste of Time

This game is a chat room with a little extra. You spend most of your time doing the most mundane things in life; using the bathroom, eating, sleeping, and bathing. When you're not doing that, you watch as your character talks to a mirror while he practices a speech. If that doesn't sound exciting enough, watch as your character makes a pizza. If you are expecting just a chat room, you'll be annoyed with having to do all of the daily stuff we do in real life. Download the demo for free and try it out for 14 days, if you don't believe me.
Even that's not worth it.

The Sims Online- Overrated and Confusing

When I originally bought The Sims I was amazed at how excellent the game was- good graphics, addictive, and exilirating. After purchasing this awful computer game I felt embarrassed for The Sims creators, that obviosly spent all of their time counting their millions, instead of making fun computer games. The deterioration of this game was even worse after I wrecklessly tried to create an account and actually start using TSO. This game is a complete ripoff considering you pay $.. to buy it, plus you must pay the "cheap" cost of $10.00 a month after the 30 first days. My advice to anyone thinking of buying this game: DON'T!

Ratings: (of 5 stars)

Graphics- 4 stars (Reasonable, like the standard Sims)
Ease of use- 0 stars (Close to immpossible to make an account)
Concepts- 2 stars (Been here, done that)
Price- 1 star (Eats your money)

THIS GAME REALLY DISAPOINTED ME

It is not worth the money to spend on it even for the 1st free month of useage. You do not have all the stuff you have in your regular sim games. If you want an object, you must work to earn money and I am not talking one job..you must stay and watch your sim fill out a chalk board for 5 min at a time. If you walk away. Maxis bumps you for being idle after 5 min.

This game is not even 100% fully functional. Heaven forbid you try to get on at 7 or 8..you can't! MJaxis won't let you on! Oh there is also skill degrade..so you can work on your skills and they go down as soon as you do something else! There is not much chatting going on either! People are always either Away from the keyboard (AFK) or are busy making money.

Please don't waste your money. I bought it to satisfy my curiosity. I feel like a schmuck now. I wish i hadn't.

This game is deffinately NOT for teens. I am 25 and if I had a 13yr old, I would NOT let her play it. It has inappropiate themes and while there is a filter, it hardly works..Lots of filthy sims and lots of filty reactions like sex in a vibrating love bed and what looks and sounds like oral sex in a heart shaped hot tub. This should be rated 18+!!!

The game I must warn you is NON CHRISTIAN. It has all jewish and eastern related themes. While I am not bashing maxis for this, it would have been nice for a christian object.

They have mosque building materials which is a post 9-11 NO NO
They have the star of david pinata..and the menorah..
Is there a crucifix for the wall that gives you 2 room points..I think not!

End note..this is a beta game that is not worth buying stick to your single player or buy it for ps2...STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!

Best for im junkies

I am I die hard Sims fan and have all the Sims off line games. Whether
or not The Sims is fun and worth purchasing is up to you and your
personality. If you like the original Sims and enjoy online chat you
will probably like the game. If you are not into on-line chat, you
probably won't. Right now it is mostly a glorified version of an IM
messenger like ICQ. There are few other fun things like building a
nice house and playing some of the money games, but I think they get
old quick. For the average person, making money is tedious and boring,
as is skill building. I liked the idea of having a thriving business
within the game but, even though I have time, I am not willing to
spend at least 8 hours a day (some people spend a lot more) tied
to my computer. There is no way to really make running a business
profitable anyway and in most cases it actually costs money.

No matter how bad the reviews were here, I still would have bought it.
I just had to know for myself. I was very obsessed with it at first
and for a few weeks I was on 3-4 hours a day on average. I decided
both my husband and I needed to get subscriptions ($20 total) because
I couldn't make the house I wanted without him. You are limited on how
many objects you can own (a serious problem) and can only earn 2-3
skills which are needed to play games. Money is also hard to make
unless you have another person helping you. Through the whole time I
can't say I really enjoyed the game the much except for building the
house, playing with the "moves" my sim could make and playing pizza
(one of the games within the game) on occasion. I just wanted to like
it and felt I needed to because I spent so much money on it.

The game is very buggy. Some of the bugs are more than just a
nuisance, they actually make some people unable play the game as
touted. For instance, the search engines currently don't find many of
the places so you can't build a thriving business. This has been going
on for over a month now, effecting hundreds of people with no comment
for EA. EA tech support is not at all helpful in most cases. It is
really in beta stages as far as I'm concerned now.

Overall, I'm sorry I bought it. I feel stuck, because I do think it
will get better. I just think that is going to take 3 to 9 months.
However, if I cancel my subscription I will loose my character, money
and house forever and it represents over 100 hours of work.

An Amazing Game

TSO (as referred to in the actual game) is one of the best games ever.

You might've heard rumors about mafias and other people who aren't nice in the game, but through my experience, that isn't true. If you are just beginning the game and want to meet nice people, start out in Jolly Pines. Everyone helped me when I was new, and all of them became my good friends.

Just try this out. I think they are still offering your first month free, and you will quickly know if you like it or not. So give it a try, and see how you like it.

I sure did.

From the Sims to The Sims Online - Two leaps backward for mankind

I was always a fan of the original Sims games as well as all the expansion packs. In fact, I was one of those people who used to think it was more fun to stay in on a Friday night and play the Sims than go out partying with my friends. I've also always loved MMO games. So I decided to take a spin on the Sims Online. I was severely disappointed.

The first thing that hit me was how unfriendly the game was to beginners. You'd start off in the middle of a huge city with just enough money to buy a small lot, some walls (unpainted), and maybe a bed and a toilet. You don't even get a floor and if the roof had cost money, you wouldn't get one of those either unless you wanted to go without either the bed or the toilet. Making money in the beginning was a slow and boring process. You could go to group money making houses and sit around for hours staring at your sim making preserves or carving gnomes out of wood. You'd make probably 400 simoleans an hour. Great flow of income. After maybe a week you could actually afford to put in a floor. Plain and simply put -- boring.

The game itself was nothing too spectacular. The engine is essentially just a large multiplayer version of the original Sims - guess EA hasn't gotten enough money to use the Sims 2 engine. And you don't even get very many object to play around with. After creating the Sims, the plethora of expansion packs, the Sims 2 and it's plethora of expansion packs, you would think that EA would have enough models and information to give you at least a few hundred thousand objects. Nope.

I found the game to be choppy and laggy at times - well, actually, all the time. Even when I was in my own house with nobody else around, still found lag. With a 3.5mbps connection to the internet and a 3500mHz processor, I don't think lag should be an issue.

To be honest, the Sims Online has taken away my confidence and my love of the entire Sims series. It was depressing to see EA take such a huge jump backwards when they created the Sims Online. All in all, I do not think the game is worth the money, or it's $10 a month price tag. It would be more worthwhile to purchase a rotten egg for $10 each month.
