Wears Thin.......

Being a big fan of the original The sims game and it's expansions and the sims 2 i think i can honestly give the reader a good idea of how this expansion pack is. One thing you should know before you read any further is that this expansion pack itself isnt as good as it may seem, but in the end any sims fan or owner of the original game should buy this ep even though it gets boring after a while.

Basically this ep allows you to send your teen sims to college where they grow up to be young adults and go in persuit of higher education to unlock new exclusive careers available only through college. They can do assignments and term papers to raise there college performance bar which determines there grade at the end of each semester. Each student has to go through eight semesters in total before gradution. Along the way you can call a taxi and visit other locations in your college town including gyms, lounges libraries etc.

While all of this seems good the game wears pretty thin. there's not too much to do once you play through college with a few of your sims as your basically skill building and doing assignments to pump there study meter for good grades, beyond that there is not much to do. Going to other locations in your college town outside of dorms is tedious as you have to sit through loading times like you do wen u visit a community lot in your normal neighbourhoods. There is not much to do or no real incentive to visit locations across your college town either.

The game locations arnt designed well either, coffee shops dont really look like coffee shops and it's all just the same wallpaper and florr tiles and carpets you saw in the original game. Dorms are similar and dont really look like real college dorms would look. All in all the game doesnt really deliver a real authentic college experience.

The games saving graces however come by the numbers. Some of the new objects are awsome. you can buy guitars, bass and drums(and while the developers have said you can start a band, it's not true you simply play for tips). There are other furniture and items that add to the game. There are also new social reactions, but arn't really that impressive. Plus the new influnce and life time aspiration system adds to the game.

It may seem like i'm being too critical but The sims 2:university ep left me wanting more after just a couple weeks of playing and really isnt the best expansion pack u'll see for this game(more are sure to come out). but any sims fan can buy this game for the new items, furnitures and social reactions since they add to the game, making this a ep worth buying. Dont expect too much of it though or it might end up dissapointing you

ITS WORTH IT!

This gane is worth your time and money. If you live in Brooklyn, this game might be a little togh to find.So order i from here.I just got it yesterday. Its great.New items such as pool tables, guitars, furniture, bass, and drums. All new young adult age group. You must be careful though not to fail 1 semester twice or else you get kicked out of college and into the real world where you sim transforms into an adult. The time in University is different form in the Sims 2 Original.Time goes by semesters instead of days.Finishing college takes alot of patience.

-THE DOWN SIDE

-Never save the game while your sim is on te cell phone. When you return to the game they will talk evry minute.Forever.Until they die.

-The commuity Lot takes long to load.

-Only two universities offer fraternities and colleges.

-You have to claim a dorm by clicking on the door of the dorm you want.If someone else claims it first then just click on their face on the left side of the screen. Click on their door and choose "Unclaim Room". If you do not control that Sim, then delete the door. However the cheat

boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true

must be typed into the cheat window fist. The cheat window is activated by pressing Ctrl,Shift, and C a the sme time.

-There are only three universities. However this can be changed by going to [...]

HAVE FUN!

A "Must-Buy"

If you enjoyed the sims2, then trust me when I state that you wouldn't want to not buy this game for the world! The sims2 Uni offers a brand new array of new objects and NPC's, from the evil mascot to new lounge chairs. It also offers a new age, the "young adult" age, which can only be obtained when your teen sim attends college. They also have added a variety of new career reward objects, starting from the cow plant, all the way to Dr. Vu's Home Plastic Surgery Kit. And, if that's not enough they've also thrown in a new little contraption called "Influence", which can also help your sims out on the road of life. The only thing I would would change if I could, would be to make campus life a tad bit shorter. Well, I hope that you found my review helpful, and I strongly urge you to buy the sims2 Uni, because I know that you'll enjoy it, as much as I do.

Very Fun even though it slowed my computer down.....

I, like many others, have been waiting for this expansion pack for The Sims 2 for a long time. When I got it this afternoon when I arrived home from school, I was VERY dissapointed. The gameplay is horrible, and worst of all, BORING. The load times are UNBEARABLE. And there are next to NO new objects unlike the original The Sims +150 every expansion pack. It feels like Maxis just threw this one together at the last minute and said "Okay, we're done! Time to work on the next sucky sequal to an okay game."

In short, don't buy this game if you can avoid it. I almost returned it, but I wasn't able to because I didn't want to uninstall it and take it back because I'd loose all my files. Being the stupid girl that I am, I thought "Well, it's the Sims! It's gonna be great!" Well, that was rather foolish of me.

I give it... a two... out of five.

Great, but still has some crash probs

I love Sims, but because my laptop doesn't have the high enough graphic card, it crashes pretty easily, and since my laptop is custom made, there is no way I can get to the graphic card to replace it(even though my laptop is only 1 year old, and pretty fast even AFTER I installed The Sims U.) well all in all, even with the crash problem I'm still living, but I think they should have a patch out soon, since of the countless complaints of bugs and glitches of people getting stuck in odd places.

Not bad

I'm a big fan of Sims. This expansion pack was great but it didn't amaze me like some others. The main idea of having the university is a great change to help you develop your Sims' skills, from Cooking, Cleaning, Logic and so on. It also ads a new phase or age into your Sims lives. Instead of moving from teenagers to adults, you'll have a young adult before the adulthood. but that happens only when you move them into college/university. There is one thing that I don't understand in it yet. You can join a "Greek House" at university. However, all I found during "trying" to join it was 4 mad people wearing Greek costumes. It was very annoying trying to follow them around and talking to them to impress them so they can accept me into their club. It was very dumb. Any how, I'd suggest another expantion pack rather than this one. Probably "Pets"

This is the Best!

This is the coolest game ever! If you like the Sims 2, then you have to have this - it totally makes everything more fun! There's a lot of new furniture to make your dorm or house "groovy" or like a castle and I LOVE IT!!! Everybody should have this game and i can't explain how cool it is!

More reviews...because of stupid forgetfullyness.

Though, as I said, it's an awesome game, you need one heck of a video card and computer to run it. I have an nVidia Magic FX5200 video card (REALLY powerful), 120 gigs memory, and 512 megabytes RAM- and sometimes the images flicker and the images run slowly. But other than that, it's worth 40 pictures of George Washington.

Sims Go to College and Get even Sillier!!

I love the Sims2. UNI is an OK expansion pack but it certainly wouldn't be much of a game on it's own.Sims have to study alot and that certainly isn't as much fun as the crazy stuff they will get up to in NIGHTLIFE.
UNI is cool, don;t get me wrong, but if I had my time again ,I would wait for NIGHTLIFE and leave UNI on the department store shelf. The best thing about it is new items like guitars, and some new interactions.Oh, plus a lifetime aspiration.
I also like the ability to move Sims into other Sims' homes, whenever you like.
The reason I would not buy it if I had my time again is that it causes some glitches.ALthough they are only small ones.
My suggestion is to forget about UNI and wait for NIGHTLIFE, especially if you have doubts about the strength of your computer system.
