Worth every penny!

I was hesitant to buy Rock Band, because my son and daughter had not really played much with the Guitar Hero system I purchased for them. But I took the plunge anyway when I saw how much my niece and nephew enjoyed their Rock Band system. My son now plays with it almost constantly, and all of his friends play with it when they come over, too. He now wants to learn how to play guitar! This game was worth every penny!

Evil, eeeeeeeeeeevil!

This evil game is addictive! Bought this from Amazon back in May when they had a great price on it, and just stopped playing long enough here at the end of July to warn you all away from buying this game! Don't do it, you won't want to go outside, or to work or school, for months! Between me downloading additional songs one after the other, my wife changing outfits on her character every few minutes, and my son insisting on completing 'world tours' with his guitar character... and bass character... and drummer... and singer... on every level of difficulty, we're not even sure what day of the week it is! Please, save yourself this pain, buy Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire for PS3 instead, you'll play for 2 minutes and never look at it again -- think of all the current events you'll know about instead!

My 2 sons purchased this game for a playstation 3. They have had a blast and even my youngest son has taken the microphone to sing. It will keep them entertained for hours and really stretches their imaginations. They become so engrossed in "rocking out" that they almost look like zombies!

I ordered RockBand,I personally thought it was awesome:It comes with hard core drums,a detailed and cordless RockBand guitar, and a "mic".You get to customize and create musicians and have your own crazy BAND!It comes with a variety of songs such as:Sabotage,When You Were Young, and many more!Plus, you can buy and then download songs from "The Shop",instead of only having a limited amount of songs. One more thing you get to tour the world!Well all i have to say now is that if you do not agree with me,read other reviews.

The product has an hand fun of problems. I received this product and found a broken foot pedal, like i wouldn't notice. the guitar is glitched. The only item that worked just fine was the mic, but it isn't really good to begin with. If you decide to purchase this game i say go some place like walmart or a gamestop/crazy and get the warranty. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY/GAL!!!!!!!

Way fun!

I bought this for my 17-year-old son for his birthday. It took him and his friends about 20 minutes to get it connected, and it works perfectly. He has had a blast playing it with his friends, and our family has requested that we bring it to the beach for vacation. Our one criticism is the cables. We sure wish that the instruments were wireless...but it didn't ruin the fun. Again, Amazon had the best price around.

This would be a great game, but we found so many flaws in just the first few hours playing it, they overwhelmed any fun we had. First, the instructions are so poorly written they are useless, and we spent the first few hours just trying to figure out how to navigate the menus. As others note, the guitar controller is horrendous, so I won't belabor that point. The microphone sent with the game did not function at all and we will have to replace it. After reading several of the posted online comments at the game's website, malfunctioning (or nonfunctioning) controllers are not an uncommon problem, sad to say. We don't own Guitar Hero, so I can't make any comparisons.

On the positive side, when the game functions, it is a blast! The easy settings are very easy, making it fun to learn the instruments. The tutorials are good, the only exception being that when you want to repeat them, you have to listen to the aren't-I-cooler-than-you intro over again. That gets annoying if you're having to repeat a section several times (eh hem, some of us had trouble learning the drums.) Spouse and I did have fun playing together, and liked that we could have different difficulty settings. Would I buy it again? I'm on the fence. I wish the manufacturer would read the postings at its own website and fix some of the more major issues it has. You might check out that website and decide for yourself based on user complaints.

Fun, but many many problems.

While being a lot of fun this game causes much frustration setting up. Half the time we can't get the microphone to register properly with a controller. The guitar is unbelievably poor compared to guitar hero. Unlike the guitar hero version, it has an on/off switch that if on the back of the guitar. If you forget to turn this off your batteries will be dead overnight. When the guitar goes dead I can't even start a game with the vocals and drummer because I can't seem to find a way to get the guitar out of the band. This game is also a lot less forgiving than guitar hero on timing. I tend to hit notes early a lot more often and miss them from being too early. Overall guitar hero is 100x better than this due to all the shortcomings.

Great Game!

Love it! Great game! Either by yourself, or with a group of friends, you can spend countless hours enjoying this game. The fun never ends. Also, check out the downloadable songs, pick your favorites, and it's that much better!

Who is to blame? Activision or Harmonix

Let me first say this, I played this game a few times at my friends house on his Xbox 360 and it was great. I have Guitar Hero III for my Playstation 3 and I have 2 Les Paul wireless controllers, So I decided to buy this game for my PS3 and sell the Rock Band guitar...BAD IDEA, I bought the product on amazon so I had 2 days to wait for my game to come in the mail. I purchased the songs I wanted ahead of time and I received my Rock Band and i'm hyped up and ready to play...then BAM I find out the Les Paul Guitar Hero wireless guitars are not compatible with Rock Band because Activision and Harmonix are both greedy and both want money. This pisses me off because I have to shell out another $50+ to get another guitar for Rock Band if I want to enjoy a full band. So if I keep Rock Band I will have to have 4 guitars in total. One for GH3 and one for RB. I like the GH3 guitars much better but it all comes down to money.

If you own GH3 and plan to buy this game, be prepared to shell out more money for an extra guitar. This game is really fun but this incompatibility issue drops the overall rating for this game. Get the Xbox 360 version if you have a 360.
