Game Rocks

Playing an (electronic) instrument by yourself is a lot of fun, but getting a group of three or four others to pick up the other instruments takes it to a whole new level. You can feel the comradery of a jam session without knowing anything about playing an instrument. The drums seem the most fun, but the mic similates karaokee.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old grandson. He, his 2 sisters and best bud began using the game right out of the box. It didn't take long for them to start having a really good time with it. It's brought out the theatrics and creativity in all of them. Future "Rock Stars"? Maybe not, but they are sure having a lot of fun in the meantime.

Great fun

Purchased this game for Christmas for the whole family. Everyone loves it, and 3 friends that played here have already purchased their own game. It's a great game!

Great Party Game

I bought this game for my husband's Christmas present and we've had a ton of fun with it. The guitar controller is admittedly a little cheap and yes, the solo buttons are small. BUT the button design is better and for my girl friends with small hands the tiny solo buttons are perfect for normal play. The drums are amazing and if you're playing on expert you are really playing drums. The singing is fun and the song choices are great. I do wish the pack came with a second guitar so we could play bass and lead guitar at the same time, but I suppose we'll just have to buy that separately.

The game has a lot to offer for everyone and I think that is what makes it a winner. I enjoyed playing the solo tour and winning fun outfits, tattooing my character and giving her rocking hair styles. But my husband could care less about all that and really just likes playing some awesome rock songs with friends. There is a bit of a storyline so with one group of friends we are trying to complete a band world tour. But with others we just have a good laugh using the game like a karaoke machine or simply playing around and taking turns on different instruments. This means that even once all the songs are unlocked and the world tour completed the game still has something to offer.

RockBand...ROCKS!!!

RockBand is an amazing game. It far exceeded my expectations. Having played all of the Guitar Hero games and also the SingStar line, I was expecting some kind of hybrid between the two. RockBand is that and more. The extra buttons on the guitar make it new and different, and makes you feel like a rock star when ripping out those killer solos. The drums are alot harder than I thought they would be, but despite that, everyone fights to be the drummer. Singing is fun, I like that the mic can be used to give MORE COWBELL! The song selection is great, and if you get tired of it, there are more songs to download for it online (at least for PS3)

The only drawback I can possibly see is that you do wind up playing some of the songs over and over. However, it does make you better at them, and with many setlists you can create yourself, you will never be bored. GREAT party game. 5 stars PLUS all the way...BUY IT NOW!!!

A few Kinks, and not the Band either

This is one of the games I'd been waiting for since I'd first heard about it at E3. Not only was it Guitar Hero, but it was the entire band all in one.
I first had a few questions;
- What if you want to fly solo?
- Will the songs be the originals or some band covering them?
- Will this live up to everything that Guitar Hero is?

Well, you're in luck, not only can you play alone, but you can play with others via the online, LAN, or "split screen" though you share the same screen, no splitting to it.

Multiplayer:
Ok so I've started a band, be it online, or otherwise. What do I do now?
Well you set up a gig and get your band noticed so you can go play more complex songs. The better you get, the harder your songs get.
But what if I want to play guitar, and my bandmate does also? Good, you've now got yourself a Bassist and Lead Guitarist, now go find your drummer and singer.
We've started our band, and played a few songs, but one of our members is having trouble getting the rythm to ______ song, what do we do?
if it's the drummer or the singer slacking, tilt the guitar to save your bandie from causing a total failure song! Keep in mind you can only save your bandmates 3 times before the crowd goes insane and kicks you off the stage. Drummers and singers can also save bandmates by performing perfect notes or special circumstance notes.

Flying Solo:
You can unlock songs for single play here by touring on your own. You can also try to better yourself on your intrument before joining a band, try to outdo your scores to impress the leaderboards as well.

Problems:
Uh oh, there's a few issues!
When I got my copy of the game I was dismayed to find that the Microphone was not responding at all. I had two options, send it back in free of charge and replace it (they want the faulty mic back once you get your new one, so you re-use the box they gave you). Or you can use your Karaoke Revolution Microphone. Keep in mind the Rock Band Mic looks better ;)

Another issue I came across was that after a few weeks of playing Rockband the Guitar wouldn't respond properly, (which can be fixed on your own or returned as covered by it's warranty) If any of your instruments do not work right out of the box, or stop working, send them back and get your replacement. That is the only issue the game has, and it's a pretty big issue causing it to lose it's perfect score.

I reccomend the game, but be warned you may get faulty equipment.

I bought two of these rock bands for my grown kids for Christmas and since they were on vacation the whole week that's all they played...day and night. They had set one up here at my house and we had a blast with it. I'd recommend it to everyone!

This has to be one of the best group video games ever. I got it for Christmas and was not disappointed. The dynamic once all the people get to know what is going on and how to play is amazing.

I am an actual drummer, myself, and I will say that the drum parts for the songs are spot on. You truly will be playing the drums if you do Expert. I was a little rusty so I couldn't even play all the songs on Expert in the beginning.

Great game!

Blows Guitar Hero out of the water..

If you have liked the Guitar Hero 1 and 2 games you will love Rock Band. The graphics are designed better and not quite as cartoonish. You can still compete with two guitars or you can mix it up with drums and a microphone as well. Fun game all around, I can't think of ANY reason why a fan of Guitar Hero would not like it. Personally I like the guitar better the Guitar Hero's and though the drums can be hard I like them too. The only thing that I have trouble with is singing, that's touch.

No issues with Rock Band on PS3

Other than being addicting, no problems or issues with Rock Band on the
PS3. That includes the guitar controller which worked great out of the box (2 months and counting), so the early problems seem to have been addressed. Waiting to receive
the second guitar controller. Wireless capability of the PS3 is greatly appreciated and facilitates downloading new songs from the Playstation store.
