I purchased this for my son and I. It is very entertaining. It does take a lot of practice to do. It has a lot of awesome songs. The drums are great.

After having Guitar Hero 1 and 2, Rock Band follows in the same vein. Guitar is great as usual, it's nice being able to play bass guitar parts. Drums are hard, need more practice.
My only complaint is the microphone. In a word, it sucks. The delay between the in game singing and a players singing is terrible. It's unusable. Also, there are no controls on the mike. To use it you actually have to take a regular controller and get it set up. The guitar user can't set it up, and the drummer can't set it up, so you can't just jump in.
Be satisfied with the songs that are included because if you want to add extra songs it's going to be a minimum of $1.99 per song although grouped songs may be slightly less per song. You could drop some serious cash if you want all the additional songs that are coming out weekly. It's a plus that they are supporting additional songs but it is a cash cow.
Love Rock Band...But we need more controllers

I love Rock Band. We all play it and have fun with 4 players. Perfect for anyone over 7. The drums make it by the way.
Now...a few things that must be said...
1. Guitar Hero Guitar does NOT work with it for PS3 (it does on Xbox 360)
2. They need to get the guitars out for sale very soon. I had to buy 2 sets and sell the rest of the other set on ebay becsuse I am not patient enough to wait for 4/1/08.
Over look thoose few things and it is awesome!!!

The game is great...I mean really great, but there is one MAJOR flaw....
The drum set pedal broke....just now...snapped...
At the base there is this little dot...and smack dab through it I now have a huge crack...''It is no longer usable....at all...
I now have to either figure out how to rig it, or send it in for a replacement...this is cheap plastic molding and will not hold any serous drumming...
I don't really play the guitar much, but I suspect it has the smae weakness...they just feel...cheap...
If not for this the game would have gotten 4 stars....no Hendrix.....extra songs are extremely expensive, and they don't count toward your global ranking at all.....lame...PLUS you cant play them with anyone else unless THEY buy them too! LAME!
Edit: Just an update, there are kits out there to repair the pedal or replacement guitars that are much sturdier. I would definitely suggest investing in those things at the same time as buying this game, or you will spend a long time doing the broken item return tango with the company.
Amazing fun, good social event. However.

The Product is fantastic for entertaining and those who wish they could play instruments. The drum set has got to be the sell point on the package. It is challenging and offers true incorporation into the song. My only pet peeve is the song title list. I wish the addon packages offered more recent songs of different bands because we're not in the 70's anymore and its catering to a younger generation.
Great, except for lag

I bought this game and a PS3 to go along with my Sony HDTV. I had been playing a friend's copy on PS2 and thought I would get my own. Ever since I started playing the game I have noticed, and everyone coming over has as well, a lag in the drum fills sections of every song and also about a half second delay with the microphone. Since I bought the game about a month and a half ago I have had my drums and microphone replaced, but it still didn't fix it. I'm awaiting a new game disc, which EA has said will be shipped to me. This seems to be an issue with the game and HD televisions. I would be careful before buying.

Rock Band is a great game. I never really liked Guitar Hero, especially from a party standpoint because you have to keep taking turns to play.
Not so with Rock Band ... With Rock Band you have the ability to play guitar, bass (if you get an extra guitar), drums, or sing. All are fun to do and challenging in different ways.
I would recommend this game to anyone that loves music and wants to rock out to some of their favorite rock songs and maybe even find a few new favorites along the way.
Fun, but many many problems.

While being a lot of fun this game causes much frustration setting up. Half the time we can't get the microphone to register properly with a controller. The guitar is unbelievably poor compared to guitar hero. Unlike the guitar hero version, it has an on/off switch that if on the back of the guitar. If you forget to turn this off your batteries will be dead overnight. When the guitar goes dead I can't even start a game with the vocals and drummer because I can't seem to find a way to get the guitar out of the band. This game is also a lot less forgiving than guitar hero on timing. I tend to hit notes early a lot more often and miss them from being too early. Overall guitar hero is 100x better than this due to all the shortcomings.
Fun for all

This is fun for all ages and a great way to get the family having fun together. We had kids five to 50 years old singing, dancing, playing and laughing for hours. My only negative comment is that I thought it would have a Bass Guitar in the box, but it only comes with one Guitar. We want to get a second Guitar as soon as Guitar Hero comes out for PS3. Up to three people can play at one time, plus you can have lots of people singing together. You can solo on the drums, bass, guitar, or singing if you don't have any friends over.
Excellent Game

A great game. The guitar that comes with the bundle is very nice. When you're playing the drums it actually feels like you're playing the real drums. The online function is really nice. You can play any of the instruments with anybody online.
